Nokia could have done a better job by providing numeric key board, as in E 72, instead of having the numbers on top row of the keypad. It is very difficult to type numbers through the top row. Even the new lap tops hav given separate numerci key board now

I see that this phone's kinda thin though. Was thinking like would it snap or whatsoever if we slide up the keyboard like too many times, stuffs like that. Well anyway, was a great Nokia supporter few years back when I started using my first Nokia phone when I was just 9 years old. Kinda forgot the model, but it was fascinating to me back then. If you were to give me the same model to use right now, I wouldn't even want it for free :/ Can really see that Nokia is trying their best to match up to the other powerful brands like HTC, Blackberry, Apple, Sony Ericsson, LG and Samsung. Guess these few brands are the brands that we are most familiar with. I am working for LG, but to me, I find that LG phones are still lack of something. Which I recently just found out: Customer's trust and confidence towards the brand. Whereas for Nokia, many customers still thinks that it is good as it was really reliable in the past. Like no matter how many times you drop it, it still would remain the same. Wouldn't get damaged or whatsoever. But I guess times have changed. Many phone brands in the world are slowly climbing up and apart from improving on their specs, I guess they ought to improve on their OS too. The OS is a very big problem for Nokia as Android and IOS is leading the market right now. Goodluck Nokia!!

IwantANe63, 19 Jan 2011omfg! Why doesn't it have a card slot? Are people from Noki... moreIt doesn't need a card slot! hello! it has 8gb so that is more than enough! what do you want to store in it anyway?
                The CIA database? LOL
a phone memory is not a permanent definitive storage. Only a temp so it is enough. Normal people download their photos and video to store it in a hard drive or dvd or something like that. The rest is more than plenty for apps, photos of contacts, emails and music to listen.
I have all sorts of garbage on my phone, I bought a 4GB card some years ago and went for the 4gb as a precautionary measure just to be sure that in future i would have enough space and eve today I don't use more than half of the storage space on that card.
Please think on real needs and not on numbers on a sheet of paper.

Anonymous, 20 Jan 2011"looks amazing, and the Specs look even better" ... morePersonally I don't like Nokias...
But guess what? this one seems to have nice specs indeed.
The storage is more than enough.I have a N97 32gb and don't use a fourth of its capacity (maybe not even an eighth... so make the maths).
The lack of card slot is no real problem because there is enough space, they said the same about my SE W980 and how it was bad not having a sd card slot and guess what? I never did miss it!
About the processor... it depends a lot on the system, ram, graphics cards etc etc...I always thought that my friends 5800 xpressmusic where sluggish but my n97 with almost the same sepcs is responsive (lots of defects but rapid enough)
this reminds me on all the nonsense talk about X10 minis and how android wouldn't work on a small screen and the 600mhz processor was to slow... let me say this once more... guess what? it works wonderfully!
The screen... You really don't need big resolution figures don't you? Get real... and talk after you experienced the phone.

Anonymous, 20 Jan 2011xenon is not better than dual led because xenon does not pr... moreWhat the hell are you talking about? A Flash has a purpose and purpose only: light the scene when you want to take a picture. And that's it. If it happens to be able to be used as a torchlight that is nice, but that is it.
If you want to have a silly discussion about if dual led is better than Xenon (don't make me laugh) you should at least know have you used both and than you should know that dual led can not compare to the vast superiority of xenon when it comes to light a photography and that is what it needs to do.
I have a nokia N97 dual led (and nokia does make some fine led flashes) and a xenon SonyEricsson K810i and let me say to you it is not even a fair fight...Xenon whipes the floor with a much weaker led flash.
Anyone who has taken a photo knows that.

Anonymous, 20 Jan 2011"looks amazing, and the Specs look even better" ... moreFor a business phone this is awesome. Not that I need a business phone. I am actually a LG fan rather than Nokia. The specs on this is far better than other business phone such as Black Berry.
As Far as the memory goes I don't think people need more than 8GB, unless this phone is your laptop replacement, and that would be a silly thing to do. The missing card slot is compensated by the USB port. After my sd cards crashed twice I have stopped relying on them so heavily. I make backups of everything on the card at least once a year just because of the fear of card crash.
As far as the Keyboard is concerned neither you nor I know the mechanism of it, since neither of us have used this exact phone. I gifted my gf a N97 and I love the keyboard on that. So, I would like to assume that the keyboard on this device would be on par or even better. I have not used a Symbian^3 device either so, I hope that is a better explanation for the device having an "antique" processor. If not that part is beyond me.

Anonymous, 18 Jan 2011what are talking about? Xenon is better than dual led! What... morexenon is not better than dual led because xenon does not provide the torch function + video light. So for me having a led (preferably dual led) is a must feature. having both led+xenon would be of course even better.

jatin, 19 Jan 2011i heard arm11 processor was launched late 2002. device with... morei also heard the ARM11 design is from 2002, but it didnt go into production that early. Arm11 was never a revolutionary design, and it was power hungry for its performance level. Remember N96, Nokia actually went back Arm9 because Arm11 drained the battery without much performance advantage. N96 had a smaller battery (only 950mAh) than N95 and yet the battery lasted much longer. N96 has been said to be slow and underpowered but N95-8GB wasnt much faster, i had them both and i hated N95-8GB for its battery life.

Stuntman, 19 Jan 2011The price of this device just blew me away. 600 euro = $80... morewell, the canada price will not be the Euro equivalent, it will probably cost less than 700 there.

The Desire Z sells for much more than $500 cad in europe. Closer to €500 i think. Mine was around NOK 4100 minus 10%, and NOK4100 is €520 or CAD 700.

What specs are you talking about? The low screen resoulution? Or the antique processor? The small RAM? The missing cardslot? The old and bad keyboard mechanism? Or half the internal storage of much older Nokia units? (older units with 32GB which still had cardslot)

You have to be totally Nokia fanboi in your head if you see any good specs here. Those specs are really bad.

People that are calling out this phone should really go else where. Nokia is not putting a loaded gun up to your head and telling you that you must buy this product. If you don't like this phone then don't buy it, it's as simple as that. And plus it is a E class business class phone so, if you're looking for a sophisticated looking iCandy that does half the thing the company claims to do, and are looking for millions of useless iCraps, you might want to divert your attention towards iPhone.
This phone looks amazing, and the Specs look even better, the only thing I would change is probably the OS to an MeeGo. This phone is far superior than any iPhone. It might be on par or even above most androids out there. And since it is Nokia I know for sure the quality will be far better than most other brands out there. Yes, I would rather buy an expensive phone that will last me for a long time than a cheap Chinese quality phone that needs to be replaced in a year or less.

I paid $500 CDN for the Desire Z back in November. The E7 will probably not be available until spring. I was actually interested in the E7 when it was first announced. At a cost of 60% more than the Desire Z (and probably 6 months later), I just could not really see it being worth $300 more than a Desire Z to me.
