dorry, 18 Jul 2009hey guys, can u help me?im thinking of buying e71 for me, b... moreE71 is a complete phone. The battery life is excellent.there are just two problems:
                    1.The camera is mediocre.
2.The video and audio sound is average.
But the signal reception is flawless and audio sound while speaking on the phone is good.

I recently upgraded software of my E71. My Camera 'one-touch' key then re-allocated itself to a webb access 'Vlive' key and there is no way that I can re-allocate it back. Menu - Tools- Personalisation - One Touch = does not even give me an option to allocate for Camera as the manual and online guide says it will. I think Nokia is losing control of their operating systems and software as per this comment from another site: (Unfortunately I cannot recall the posters name now.)

Good luck with fixing that problem... It has nothing to do with a reset or duplicate entries. There is a bug in the Nokia E series firmware that prevents the phones from picking up the caller ID of an incoming call from your contacts list. I'm having a huge fight with Nokia about this and they have admitted to me in writing that it is a bug in the firmware.

If you store a contact with the number only and no international prefix the caller id will show up on an incoming call but you'll find your incoming messages will only show the number.

If you store a contact with the international prefix (eg +679) the caller id will NOT show up on an incoming call but you will find that your incoming messages will correctly show the sender ID.

Not all E series phones suffer from the problem but most do. We have about 10 of them in our office (E51, E65, E66, E71) and ALL of them have the same problem. Our network operator, Vodafone, has confirmed the problem lies in the phones.

Nokia has created this problem themselves... there are over 220 versions of the E66, each one setup for a different network and operator. Nokia is no longer able to keep the many thousands of firmware versions that exist on their smart phones straight.

The problem is only going to get worse as they bring out more and more smart phones.

Contrast that with Apple's iPhone. One version of software for the whole world regardless of who the network operator is.

So if I don't get this sorted out with Nokia my E66 is going to be the last Nokia I own.

Because I have just discovered that Nokia just doesn't care.

                                    Hi,

Using E71 for almost last one year. The best phone I ever had! Only shortcoming is the camera.

And, has anyone upgraded the firmware to 300, the newest? Please let us know the result. Specially the camera performance, and the native browser performance!

                                    Thanks a lot in advance!
