But mine as soon as had mine at home. I charged the unit before updating.
After the updates, I have no problems at all.
WiFi? is great. GPS, I don't really use that GPS stuff. Video calling, fine also.
in short everything is fine with my unit.

your asking if you update your phone to the latest version. but before updating your phone you haven't updated it yet so technically u mean to ask if you will have all the updates of the phone the fact that u haven't updated your phone chronologically from earlier versions to the latest one.
ANSWER:
of course, it will include all the update to the earlier update. the latest will always have everything.
how i know this?
i called nokia last time to be sure about this. and they said it will all be included.

1)if i update my phone(brandnew... moreAm not sure what u really mean. Update firmware will overwrite everything - firmware & anything store in your cell. Nothing changes in your memory card.
Always do a backup for important data before performing the update. As for WIFI connection problems, it might be the router instead of the cell. Your router might block the cell MAC address for accessing it.
Mine is working fine when I connect via WIFI in Italy & Vietnam hotels.

can someone answer this:

2)if updates are good, then why are ppl having so many problems such as not being able to connect to wifi??? i dont know if i want to update mine now

good day to all. guyz, i buy my e71 yesterday but my problem is i cant use d wifi, everytime i connect it, dey say no gateway reply.i try d hostpost too, but still d same, plz ur healp is really appreciated, my e71 was made in finlad, i realy like dis phne but how can u use it if d wifi is not working plzz help me..i do all the best thing i can do to connect but still, NO GATEWAY REPLY.....ive been using nokia for more than 8 yrs..so i really lik nokia bec. it's friendly use.plzz helpme guyzzz.plzzz

Follow the instructions to see if your cell has a new firmware available for update. It depends on your version. Not all cell require update upon release of new firmware.

About your auto shutting down, u may wanna try to reinstall the latest firmware available in your country.

i never problems with regards of updating it.
but one time, with my sister's nokia n78, that's the first time i had problem.
The phone didn't reboot. But i just remove the battery and it says in the computer to connect it again and it work.
i feel so nervous that time that i might screwed up on her phone.

but i hv been facing this problem also. it gets hanged and then shuts down. it hapens once in 2 days. i use nimbuzz for internet calls. and it happens mainly that time. and the battery is not good. i hv to charge it once daily. otherwise the phone is gr8.
is there any way for a getting a better backup of battery or i hv to buy a new one
recommend to all.

I tried it with my Nokia E61i and finally my instrument went phut. Would not boot after that. So I took it to Nokia Care, who were kind enough to give me a new E63 in lieu as mine was still under warranty. But E63 was not new. It was a refurbished one, but looked new. Reason was that as per Nokia people,(I have it in writing from them) the sales and service departments are separate ones and dont have any connection. Sales have new and service people have refurbished ones. So, ultimately I was the looser. I loved my E61i but lost it due to NSU. Always give ur phone to Nokia Care for updation of firmware as they have the CD or whatever and dont take the risk of the internet which we do. (That E63 was taken away by my son and I had to purchase an E71. Thats how I am in this forum now.)

OMG, the phone is so great.
But i don't like the charger supplied with me.
that AC-5U, it took me exactly 3 hours with my phone turn on while charging but im not using it.
Can u please tell me what nokia charger is the best?

As i've told you guys, i just bought my phone 2 days ago.
And I will charge it because the battery is low. (1 bar with a notification of low battery)
I just want to know... mine was made in Korea... and the supplied charger is AC-5U.
How many hours does it take for the phone to full charge?
Because it's almost 3 hours and not yet done charging.
Please let me know.

I've been using my E71 for the last few weeks and while all features are great, nothing beats its looks and feel on the hand. Though the buttons are small, it still is easy to type fast and with practically no error!!!
Multitasking and organizing your addressbook and organizing the schedules are all too great.
But the freaking thing shuts down automatically at times. But I can re-start right away and get back in action in no time. Still, it sucks to have to do it every once or twice a week!!!
Also, opening contacts takes a while. I've got around 600 contacts in my addressbook!

I got this phone 3 weeks ago and I LOVEEE it. I wanted the iphone before this, but the e71 has a lot more flexability (to install, choose, and tweak programs), a qwerty, and is SO sexy.
