dRMick, 08 Jan 2009I have just received the E71, and it is my first experienc... moreI tried ZAGG myself, it was virtually impossible to get a smooth finish and hence reduced the quality finish the phone has. It also began to peel off at the edges as there is nothing to stop it doing that !
Just my opinion for what its worth, cheers

The browsing speed is really slow, even though with 3G connection using Opera Mini. Sometimes it just hangs and does nothing.
Does anybody else have an issue like this???
Will having more than 1000 SMSs in my inbox have an effect??
PLS HELP!!!

I have just received the E71, and it is my first experience with a smartphone. In the short time I have been using it I must say that I am very impressed with the features and capabilities of this device. The pictures of this phone do not do it justice. It really does have an outstanding build quality unlike any other phone at almost any price point. It feels solid and weighty in the hand, yet is very comfortable to use. It just feels like a quality piece of equipment.
I have only experienced the symbian OS in the lower range of Nokia "Dumb Phones" but my impressions of the S60 version are quite favourable. The phone does have a relatively intuitive feel to set up and navigation, though some of the features and applications are a little buried in sub menus and folders. Setting up email accounts is very easy if you use commercial webmail accounts like yahoo or gmail. There is a great range of customization to apply to the home screens and it is easy to set up a work/personal profile. This may be a little gimmicky to some users, however this can be switched off to return the phone to a much more basic "regular" phone state to keep things simple.
The multimedia features seem to work well, reading all of my music tracks off of my SD card was speedy and without issue. Web browsing was quick and accurate in rendering of web pages, using both Nokia browser and Opera Mini.
Connectivity options are excellent and work well. I have seamlessly paired my netbook with the E71 via USB and Bluetooth with no problems whatsoever. Installing and updating software is easy and quick.
The only cons I can think of with this device are really hardware based. The stainless steel casing is very attractive to me but really does give fingerprints an oily smudged look to the back case and top and bottom of the front. I hope to rectify this with a ZAGG invisible skin shortly, which will also offer increased scratch protection to the case and screen.
My last gripe is the inclusion of a 2.5mm headphone jack. This obviously makes it difficult to use a standard set of headphones and the idea of a 3.5mm to 2.5mm adaptor plug defeats the ease and overall styling of this phone. I can't justify the expense of bluetooth stereo headphones for occasional use.
Overall, an excellent piece of equipment. I will make no statements to the E71 being an "iPhone killer" or a "Blackberry contender" because these devices are suited to a particular user experience ie. multimedia or business power device. The E71 is a phone that can be used by everyone, and it does a great many things very well. It is a 'communicator' in the best sense of the word. If mobility, connectivity and "staying in touch" is important, then this device is worth serious consideration.

miss archi, 07 Jan 2009hiii every one .... now im very confused between 5800 and ... morei'm using e71 now and I saw my friend who use 5800. it depend on your needs. if you need better multimedia, 5800 definitely have better camera & sound quality. but if you need to type a lot, more stylist design and more reliable phone, go get e71.

OK, so updating the firmware is more tricky than I thought.
First, go to Nokia's website. Specify exactly the model number (on label under the battery bay) and find out if you have the latest firmware. If not, select your phone from a list and download the updater for your specific phone. This is a whopping 23Megs!
Now connect phone and start the updater. And what happens? It wants to connect to the internet again!!! What does it want to download that doesn't have room in 23Megs, for goodness sake? I don't have internet at home, and I can't do this whilst my boss is watching... So stupid!
