All Nokia E72 owners should be happy because Nokia has just released a new software update to fix bugs and glitches found in the actual firmware and to update ROM applications.
The new firmware is meant to provide further performance improvements, new functionalities, so-called bug-fixes and number of updates to preinstalled applications including Nokia Maps, Share on OVI and Ovi Store.
New software is at the moment only available through Nokia Software Updater for most of the generic product codes from EMEA and APAC region and is expected to be available for the rest of the world as well as for NAM and branded devices shortly.
Unfortunately, firmware is not available as FOTA update which is by the way the best, simplest and the fastest possible way of delivering software updates and the only reason could be the number of update ROM application which significantly increase the size and makes the update not suitable for delivering over the air.
Nokia E72 is UDP enabled but it is anyway highly suggestible to back up your phone memory before performing a firmware update just as precaution measure in case something goes wrong!
Anyway, if you are still in doubt to update it or not here is teh full chnage log:

As with all software releases, note that your mobile service provider, operator, or carrier may not have approved this release. Nokia produces many different variants of each product (for different countries and languages) and not all variants have the latest Nokia device firmware. It is our priority to update all variants as quickly as possible.

i honestly believe dat if u want da perfect phone nd 2 avoid disappiontment rather google or research about da phone dat u want .dat will save u tym nd money not 4getting disappionment.there will be less complaints

it is such disappointment the speaker quality is so bed that it is impossible to use the hands free speaker,the memory is straggling whit the real player clips,hanging and stopping the moves,the 5 mpix has less clarity than the 3.1 mpix from n95,the menu stays the same like 5 years ago, really not worthy the money

With the new firmware, contact lookup is much faster now. Hope these problems get resolved in next update:
1. mark sms unread (to remind me to deal with the sms later)
2. all buttons should be programmable as speed dial buttons, not just limited to number buttons.
3. threaded sms?
4. when meeting event alarm is activated, i want to be able to re-schedule it, not just snooze it!
5. meeting event is silent when it should not (seems to happen randomly)
Also, some fine dust is able to get below the display glass. The back cover opens up too easily.

e72 is a great phone, upgraded from e71. recently, i found that whenever i wanna open facebook log in page on nokia web browser, my phone will turn off automatically and reboot again. then i tried on opera browser, it did happen the same. Kind of frustrated, finally, it only works on skyfire browser. anyone here could help? I like using nokia web browser.

Its surf you trou... moreWhile your phone is locked, press and hold a direction button for a couple of seconds and you will get a large screen showing you the time and date. This is better than pressing the left selection key then wait until "Unlock keypad?" goes away to see the time.
What I can't figure out is how to use the accelerometer for autorotate, is that only for silencing calls and snoozing alarms? But if these two features use the accelerometer then surely there are other uses for it, right?
