Mojeeb, 01 Dec 2009Sherrif i'm an indian and want to ask u one thing.. i don't... moreif u dont own an e71...than blindly jump for e72 as i did....the 2.5 mm jack and sick icon set put me off from buying e71....so the e72 is the best bet for you. u will never be disappointed.

I for one dont need and optical navi pad, and i dont need a 5mp camera...So an E71 was a good choice for me because it has all other features, costs much less, and the OS has matured and became stable.

I just bought E71 instead a week ago,once i hold it and look at E72 i just dont want to go to E72, i can live without the navi pad and the FP2 effect if it means saving hundreds of dollars and getting a better build.

I've read from news that the China made version come in Topaz Brown which create a lot of problems in terms of software and hardware. Is it true??Also heard that the 600mhz processor speed is not up to expectations too. I am not sure about Silver but I have a Silver set E72-1 says to be an UK version. I've try to test the phone with Taskspy to see the 600 processor performance. Unfortunately the programme TaskSpy is not supported in E72. However, so far my E72 works fine. Talking about internet surfing, the download speed is fantastic, very smooth. I can watch youtube with the page full load within 10sec. Email client was doing fine with me. Batery is excellent. The problems I've face is that when I plug in my USB cable with PC, the OVI music player softtware somehow will hang. I cant close the programe until I unplug the USB cable. As for the sound quality I like the sound but too bad the text-to-speech sound pack is rather blur and unclear. Hope Nokia wil improve this. Overall i give 8.5 to this phone.

Just got back from the Marquee Mall here in Pampanga Philippines, managed to secure the phone (topaz brown) for P19,500 (approx $415) good price for a good phone. 1yr warranty parts & labour. Early Xmas pressie for the gf.

the loudspeaker volume will be enhance with a firmware upgrade. i am sure of it.

The phone is slow, when compared with e71. To test that I started acrobat in both. e71 took barely a second, while it took 6 seconds for e72. it may be a faster processor, as far as the specs go, but seems that the os/applications are overloading the phone, and making it considerably slower. if you have an e71, or have used one, you will not like the e72. The e71 looks better, with a much much better built quality.

You keep reporting odd issues, that background-cursor effect is once again something I haven't seen on the E72 after 4 days of heavy usage (heven after HelloOx and lots of fishy installs). Something is wrong so I suggest you perform a full reset and also reformat your memory card. My firmware version is 021.024, custom version 021.024.C00.01 17-Oct-2009 but I think that is the only version available.

The cheapest I have found the E72 here in the Philippines is P19,400 (approx US$412) from Nokia dealer in Marquee mall, Pampanga, going to buy one today for my girlfriend.

Is the difference significant?
My major concern is whether the ringing volume can be heard in noisy environment.

@Spifo - You may think I am dumb and have not read the manual or something. But I have been using E61i and then later on E63 for my mails, for the past two and a half years. You may be right the unit might be messed up.
I bought this phone only for sake of a better e-mail client over my E63.
One more new thing. When I compose a mail then press options, the options open up. But I cant move the cursor on the different options. Instead the cursor moves in the background in the message body and the receipts. I cant send mails. It doesn't allow to press send. I tried with the D pad and optical navi function both.

I see dumb people. Who can't type. Or read; Especially instruction manuals.

I like the E71's build quality but people have to get over it and admit that the E72 is a step forward. I don't know about chassis build quality but other than that everything is better on the E72, there are many, many advantages. Worth upgrading and paying a lot? Probably not. Worth buying by someone who does not have a 71? You bet.
