I also have the light spill at the bottom of my home key,it looks like a big white dot.I don't know if it is a manufacturing fault or maybe it is meant to be like that.
I love the phone though.

Today I went to store eagerly to get my pre-booked E 72. But I was highly disappointed by the build quality of E72. The Keys were not firm as E 71 and metallic cover was poor, lacked the luster. Opti-Navi key was not appealing. Volume buttons were kinda chrome plated and looked cheap.
Then my heart fell back to my all time fav E 71 and got one :)
E72 would have been a killer, if they had the same build quality of E 71 and crafted the mobile in a better way. Moreover Black E 63 looks like E 72.
Hope Nokia brings out the E72x with better look and feel.

I just bought a grey Nokia E72. Here is what I found out:
1. There is a light spill on the bottom of the home one touch key. It looks like a big dot of light.
2. The optical pad is a little bit loose and you can move it around a little bit. There were a few times (around 5x, after 3 days of use) where the D pad kind of got stuck on the optical pad while pressing it. For example, I was pressing left a lot of times and when I pressed right, it made a scratching sound because the D pad kinda got stuck on the optical pad. Is the optical pad really a little bit loose?
Can anyone tell me if this is "normal?" Normal in the sense that this is Nokia's factory's fault and we can't do anything about it? Or can I have it changed for a better one from the store I bought it from? I bought it in Mall of Asia, Philippines.
Also, I've been trying to set up a mailbox. On the selection menu (Ovi, Ymail, Gmail, Windows live messenger, Lotus notes, Others) Everytime I select one and input the required details, it just says "Saving Settings" then "Detecting Email Settings" and goes back to the Selection Menu. I do it again or select a new one, but the same thing happens. For Ovi selection, it brings me to the Ovi login page. And after signing in, it says setting up email, but still it brings me to the selection screen again. I am connected to a wifi and my internet is working.

Friends, the question here is
What does E72 have which makes it sell USD 200 higher than E71.
Reply : Nothing but A grudge which the buyers have for E72 due to a very long waiting time . Also Nokia have a practice to always sell first lot at higher price.
Yes, its only a part time eagerness to own a most awaited E72.
E72 has a 5 mpx camera which is also available on USD 160 Sony Ericsson G900. I found the pics quality match hand in hand. SE G900 uses Samsung made camera.
E72 has a 3.5mm Headphone jack and a torch which is definitely missing on E71.
E72 has a S60 V3 feature pack 2, which gives the phone a very good user interface and a good web browser. HOW MANY OF YOU THINK E71 CAN PERFORM AS GOOD AS E72 IF GIVEN A UPGRADE OF FEATURE PACK 2.
Yes, E71 will look and perform exactly on par with E72 in terms of software. BUT NOKIA WILL NEVER RELEASE FEATURE PACK 2 FOR E71 AS THIS WILL KILL E72 WITHOUT ANY DOUBT. I BET.
TILL DATE I HAVE NOT FOUND THAT STYLE AND CRAFTSMANSHIP OF E71 ON ANY OTHER MOBILE ON PLANET EARTH.
Many of you have tried to convince others that E72 is made of more plastic material to cut down the weight of the mobile. Friends, my question is why the plastic material used on E72 is inferior than plastic material used on E71. E71 has a much better plastic quality and it feels solid in hands. Please run a check and please let me know about your findings.
I would have been most happy person if Nokia would have manufactured E72 in a E71 shell. They could have made a bit of changes but should have kept the same materials.

Mojeeb, 01 Dec 2009Does the hard plastic used by nokia looks bad or gives the ... morewell...u tend to loose the luster of the glass surface ...but yet once the screen is switched on u wont notice any difference. the shine is only when the phone is switched off. this is ok as the e72 would have been more heavy had they used a glass screen.

one thing bugging me is that select connection menu always popping out every 5 minutes or so...how to disable it....i hv set to wlan off already...but to no avail....

i have been using the E72 for a week now none stop... it is running smoothly without any freezes. the phone is fast and responsive. very user friendly the touch d-pad is very good, camera is excellent for a 5mpx for e-series. till not i am not facing any issues. sound is gr8...
this phone is awsome. gr8 for emails and office applications. the noise cancellation is very good. material is excellent.
the gallery is very good and fast.
all in all this is an excellent phone.

my wishlist when the first firmware upgrade is released::::
camera with geo-tagging and face recognition.
loudspeaker audio enhanced.
video at 30 fps.
more free ram.
camera features improved.
navi key fine tuned.
the rest ...all u guys keep on adding.

the display is hard plastic...no glass unlike e71. the scree of the 72 in terms of size and resolution is a big big disappointment. dunno wat were nokia thinking when they stuck wit 320 240 resolution. the clarity of the screen is good...no complaints as the fp2 icons are just awesome.
the video playback is also cool enough. i experienced a bit lag while playing games. i blame it for the earliest batch...hopefully the upcoming firmware upgrade will solve it.
