What does
1.Accelerometer turning and
2.tapp... moreAccelerometer means the phone detects speed/position and you can use that for instance to make it silence calls when you turn it down or to auto-rotate the screen when you rotate the phone.
Tapping controls I'm not sure, probably controlling software features by tapping the phone (like, hit it with your finger twice to open a program). The accelerometer will also detect taps...

What is the most recent firmware?
Mine has 021.024, custom version 021.024.C00.01, dated 17-Oct-2009 (Bought in Portugal)

hopefully am getting mine soon, cause over the past 3 years i tried everything other than Nokia and wasnt satisfied at all.
tried windows mobile phone which was O2 and it sucked big time and the OS is sooo buggy.
then tried SE, bought 4 phones one's speaker got ruined after 3 months and 2 of them which were W705 got broken screens whithin 3 months by themselves.
finally i got Samsung Jet few months ago but didnt like it all, but i have to say that Samsung's quality is very high.
now i have decided to go back to Nokia, but people keeps telling me that those made in china phones arent as good as the old ones, thats why am trying to get as much opinions as i can before getting the phone.

i got the E72 today bronze, it is awsome gr8 upgrade from my previous E71..

Ok, here are the differences between E71 and E72, for all you picky ones...

Haha, yeah I see what you mean. I guess the reason is that most people who are posting here already owned the E71 and are not that satisfied with the upgrade. I'm pretty sure any non-E71 user who buys the E72 would think it's a totally awesome phone.
And that's not so different from what most of the review say...most of them say that it's not really worth it upgrading from E71 to E72, but for new users it's an amazing device.

its very strange that every single review on the net is praising this phone and putting it among the best phones made, while most of the people here are saying it sucks and has many faults.
don't know who to believe!

bought it just now...traded in my 2 years old N95..but still keep my E71...first impression...good,solid n well built...the track pad needs some getting used to...hehehe...i wish i can just tap on the middle of the pad to access the menus

Rajesh, 26 Nov 2009To all friends who have been happy with their E71...DO NOT ... morethank god i never bought an e71 ...or wise would have been pissed off with e72...but for a buyer like who is using e72 after e51...it will be a great change...as for the light leak its manageable i guess ...and as u said camera and software is good...i am at peace for that...and for the battery cover prob...its bugging me as i am rough user...anyway thanks for the post rajesh...keep them coming and tell about hows the gaming on e72 as it lacks graphics accelerator. and the main thing which from buying e71 was the 2.5 mm audio jack and the graphics which were gross.

To all friends who have been happy with their E71...DO NOT DITCH YOUR E71...I have been using E72 since 5 or 6 days. On this Saturday 28th November I am going to sell it off...I was never happy with the built quality of E72.
I have noticed that the optical trackpad have started behaving strangely and it is also getting tiny scratched which makes handsets look old. Yesterday I kept E63,E71 and E72 side by side. I realised that E72 is no way similar in looks to E71 and infact It looks 99% similar like E63. Except E72 has good a metalic touch and E63 is Plastic. But Take a closer look to the make of E72 and E71. Take a closer looks on sides where you find Volume and Memory card/usb slot.On E71 90% of the handset is Metal whereas on E72 its only 65%. On E72 the softkeys are brushed metal or it is Designed Hardplastic? Whatever it is, behind it there is a backlight leak which makes handset loose all its charm. Now the Volume keys on side of E72 and the power key ( are these made of metal or hard plastic with chrome finish ). The back cover on E72 dances and twists cha cha cha. Only the camera and software are the winner on E72. But on E71 forum, 90% users of E71 never complained about camera as they thought E71 was a business device and if someone needs a good camera should buy N series.
So happy E71 users, DONT DITCH YOUR E71 FOR E72...DONT DITCH YOUR E71 FOR E72......DONT DITCH YOUR E71 FOR E72.

I am not going to pay double for 3.5mm, an increase of 1.8MP in cam, and extra CPU...Not to mention when i buy the E71, i can update the software and get a very stable system.

After looking round at reports of e71 the cam/video are fine no different to 35mm film i used for years on holiday,,they only used 6 x 4 inch prints and what are people doing with 12 MP..What i mean is dependant on gsms review and price difference i may consider e71,BUT,the extra horsepower,3.5mm jack and better vid/cam keep me into e72..Anyhow its xmas in a month so getting something ...
