I think Nokia Oy. need a harder time for the way they have managed their brand licensing and hands-off approach with HMD.

In any case, parent Nokia can always acquire HMD and start making phones in Europe again. See no problem there. The return of Nokia Corp. and new phones with new Nokia logo will give a huge boost to sales. Oh, and bring back Alcatel as well.

I think some of you are being too harsh.

Yes, I've had my own issues with HMD in the past, and I have yet to try or test the G42 to pass any judgment, however, I LOVE the fact that HMD are offering easily repairable devices with easily replaceable parts.

This is an excellent step in the right direction, giving consumers this type choice and freedom to repair/replace.

              Kudos to HMD.

I hope the successor to the G60 will also have this feature (along with a more updated processor). In the meantime, I'm also looking forward to the new fairphone 5.

              Exciting times!!!!

FIH are concerned they are not getting the return on investment in HMD due to the latter switching to a multi-ODM vendor model for smartphones in Q2 2019 (FIH were the sole ODM for Nokia-branded smartphones) and HMD also using other ODMs for feature phone models (in Q1 2022).

NokiaMob covered the report at the time: https://nokiamob.net/2022/09/21/fih-is-keeping-nokia-branded-featurephones-alive/

Who knows how HMD have fared in 2023 so far? Supposedly searches for 'Nokia flip phones' were up 243% in May this year and the 2660 sold out of the new Pink & Green colourways.

Hmd offer such bad quality phones like g42 its no surprise hmd will eventually go bust.
Only the die hard fan boys online try to boost hmd phones, but the low sales & hmd forums show true picture of how bad an low quality hmd phones are, due to all quality complaints

Looks like a fake article amateurishly written. It says HMD is cancelling feature phones yet look at the sheer number of brand new Nokia feature phones being released this year. There are already 8 new Nokia feature phones in 2023 and we are only in August. In fact, both the smartphones and feature phones that Nokia / HMD released lately are getting better and better.

Moto g42 is cheaper and better than this. Better chipset and 1080p AMOLED screen. Only thing you miss out is 90hz compared to the moto g42.

MakeNokiaGreatAgain, 08 Aug 2023Two new Nokia phones have arrived. https://www.nokia.com/p... more#News Group of companies investing in HMD Global are struggling to profit from HMD Global, and the risk of failing to repay HMD Global debt has increased dramatically.
Fundraising conducted by HMD Global was unsuccessful in 2022, and now the company closely monitors the level of debt of their businesses, and tries to evaluate whether they can still continue the sustainability of their business and especially the risk of overdue debts, now there is a risk of default payment regarding this thing.
By the fourth quarter of 2022, HMD Global businesses are restructured to achieve significant synergy and cost-efficiency. HMD Global Council decides to extend Series A2 funding cycle. At the end of 2022, the rounds are still open and HMD Global management continue to discuss closing the rounds in 2023.
HMD Global is now continuing to read and respond to markets carefully, especially market competition movements, to understand market stock status to determine how market conditions can recover from current turbulence.
For the invested group, the loss of the market and the impact of the Russia-Ukraine war caused HMD Global to reduce and even cancel the feature phone Nokia and now the Group faces the problem of the number of products ordered very little and the cost required is increasing.
The bottom line: HMD Global is currently surrounded by large amounts of debt, and is seeking a large profit to pay off the debt. There are many products that are cancelled or reduced in number, especially feature phone Nokia. There are many investors who are reluctant to invest, because they are not profitable. But investors who have already invested heavily are now demanding a refund of the cost that has been given.
So this is the reason why Nokia phone use ODM design, the processor is just that (Ehm SC9863A), not make Flagship, not use SD7 series and so on.
Anyway they are now facing bankruptcy.
