Used for a year, the camera is excellent, especially good shot and processed in raw. The camera though comes as a tradeoff, battery dies in half a day with medium usage, can last a day with careful use and power saver. Has games but the lack of practical apps or their outdated buggy versions are ridiculous compared with competition. No ftp, remote dslr controls, no decent stock apps, no decent multimedia apps. Basically old Symbian tale all over again with a better web browser. screen is sharp but color calibration sucks, has a green hue and so do jpegs. However what it does do it does well, os is smooth, nothing ever lags, it has been a limited but smooth experience, if it had android it would be one of the best smartphones in the world.

Terrible/ridiculous battery life. What's the point of having great 41mp camera if you can't use it half day through, because your batter is dead. 2000mAh is a joke

I have been using lumia 1020 for the last two years. After upgrading of windows from 8 to 8.1 i have not been able to connect my mob to pc via cable. I have tried many things but still nothing happened

Lastly got window 10 via developer mode..thanks to my friend..interface is so good..like scroll down to get notification..camera quality has good affected not much...only worst part is battery draining too fast...else window 10 is must

well the Windows 8.1 systems is pretty solid for an operating system, though it has some stability issues. An example of this is when you try to perform a certain action and the entire app you are using just shuts down and you lose saved progress. This is at least once per day and I'm feeling like all the current fixes and development lays within the new Windows 10 devices.
The camera in this phone is fantastic and the software for editing pictures is just as great, though the size of the images and videos is incredibly large, which makes sharing incredibly difficult.
Windows is great for reading adobe documents.
Battery life starts off strong, but eventually it struggles to stay alive for an entire day, even with no blutooth activated and low brightness. One of the big failures of Nokia.
If you are looking to buy a 1020 this late in the game, it's worth holding out for the Lumia 550, which is Microsoft branded and comes fully Windows 10 capable with all of the bells and whistles and much improved capabilities over the 1020.

nokia lumia 1020 is a high quality phone compared to another phones camera quality is fantastic

So you are asked to let whatsapp make the video shorter and smaller in size like 16 seconds for example. But when you use the camera to record a video directly in whatsapp then it can handle a longer video cause the quality is lower i.e. No HD but vga quality. The downside is that you have to record videos directly in whatsapp under attachments>open video and so you're not able to send a video at a later time.

i have lumia 1020 and samsung note 10. the size of videos or even pictures is bigger in lumia in relation to samsung. i even can't send a video 20 sec via what's up if i use the lumia for recording. can any one help

chettra, 11 Dec 2015WE cannot upgrade windows 8.1 to Windows 10. how to upgrade?Well the upgrade to Windows 10 is not yet released. Either way you can upgrade to Windows 10 with the insider preview, you have to register. Better is to simply wait till January when the official update will be released for a bunch of older Lumia's.
