    Before buying this phone please keep one thing in mind that it's the cheapest windows phone available,so if you expect it to perform like 920 or 925,then you'll face problems.It perfectly does the job which a low mid range phone should do.It's a 4"dual core device with decent 233pixel density,good 5MP camera 720P video recording and a very good battery life,what else do you expect from a low end phone??

      AnonD-162568, 11 Jul 2013Interface may be same but in Android and IOS those apps wor... moreI agree but we hv to also remember that wp8 platform is new..
      development platform based on .net(c#) and HTML5... so its totaly new n critical platform for developers..
      in ios n android these apps are launch long time ago at that time these apps also has problems bt at these platforms apps r got ther final updates..
      bt in wp8 these apps still in beta stage.. u cant make anythng perfect in 1st time.. u need to work hard on it n app developers working hard on it.. platform is new n because of wp8 SDK limitations it takes time dude..

            Folks this is my review of this Lumia 520 phone after using it extensively for two months.
            I bought this phone because of the tag "Nokia" but no way Nokia let me down. I'm a regular follower of this lumia 520 thread in gsmarena.com. I hav read almost all the opinions. Generally many people are happy with this phone, some are unhappy for buying this phone, but not because of Nokia, because of windows phone 8.
            Let me first tell the cons of this phone
            *it has very less number of apps compared to the android and ios.
            *no complete file manager yet.
            *good games are paid in windows store.
            *Can't able to record the call.
            *Music app is there but not user friendly.
            *Heating problem.
            *some buggy problems like "phone hangs" "screen black out"
            *no support for .flv, .mkv
            *unable to download .mp3 files directly
            *less optimization option
            *ever growing others memory
            *No notification bar
            Now pros
            First i'll justify most of the above cons are not really a bad thing.
            *yes it has very less number of apps. But the fact is all the apps are certified by the Microsoft before it comes to the store. Apps in in windows store are in quality rather than quantity. Android store has huge number of apps. But as the world knows the apps there are not quality enough and most of them are Malware. But few apps in android are exceptional. i agree. On the other hand, ios apps are really great. they are similar to Microsoft, they certify the apps before they put up the app in their store. So the real competition is between iOS and Windows. In real time the fastest growing app store is Windows store. Daily around 300 new quality apps are coming up in Windows store. Rate of growth of other store like Android and iOS is really very very less.So less number of apps is not really a issue. soon this ecosystem will grow bigger than their competitor.
            *File manager is not necessary. Even the iPhone doesn't have file manager. But more than 300 million iPhone ppl all around the world are happy. Ppl who barely switched from android to windows feel this file manager is necessary. eventually even andriod users feel it is not necessary.
            *yup good games are paid in Windows store, but the real fact is only few like angry birds, fruit ninja, cut the rope are paid. But games like temple run are free. One important fact is that even paid apps can be tried for free with limitations. Even android doesn't provide any option to try the paid games. even the games cost around Rs.500 can be tried absolutely free. And one more thing there are many other free addictive games are available exclusively for windows store which doesn't even exist in android or iOS store(Eg-FIFA13). Another intersting fact is that there are lots of addictive games exclusively for Nokia Lumia user, were other windows phone users can't enjoy.
            *Music app is there but not user friendly. Listen friends Nokia music is one of the best music app currently available. They are giving regular updates to their apps. Try this Nokia music app, you will never regret. There is some bug report in that app currently. But Nokia assured giving regular updates to their apps. So music app is not really a big issue.
            *Phone gets heated near the camera. Lets sort out this problem. Try updating ur software. Listen guys What can you xpect frm a 10k phone, with dual core processor. Nothing is perfect in this world. Even iPhone 4s had the heating issue. But eventually they sort out heating issue in iPhone 5 which costs around 40k. So for this price you cannot expect all the best features of all better phones in this world.
            *No support for .flv .mkv files. please note this, there is an offical statement fom VLC player, that they are going to launch their VLC player very soon to Windows store.
            *to download .mp3 files pls download "MP3 downloader" app from the store which works completely fine for free of cost.
            *Less personal optimization. Ok. Here is another good news. Windows is going to launch the next update to their OS as windows phone 8.1, To know more just google this "Windows phone build 8.10.12112"In this hopefully you can have background picture for start screen.
            *Biggest of all isuue is that ever growing othes memory storage space. Easy way to handle this. Just go the internet explorer clear history. you will get more than 200MB of space for sure (*condition: the internet explorer should be used as default browser for all browsing activities. clear this every month once)
            *No notification bar. To me i don even consider this as an issue. because only to those lame Android users think notification bar is necessary. bt in live tiles you get more than a notification bar can give. you can read a text message in this live tile, You can get to know if there is any upadte to the app. You can get some additinal use of live tiles like instant weather report, football and cricket scores. Which is a impossible task in iPhone or android phone.

            Now lets see what is specially about Nokia Lumia 520 and Windows phone 8.

            * Price is 10k
            * Dual core 1 Ghz processer, where no other brand gives these many features (Please don't compare this phone with some cheap chinese brand android phones)
            * Integrated Microsoft Office 2013, where even iphone or high end android phone doesn't have access to the MS office.
            * Most innovative and interesting mobile os ever. Android and iPhone have 18th century interface (LOL :-P)
            * Most secure mobile OS ever.
            * 4" screen with 233 ppi
            * Most sold Lumia ever.
            * Xbox integration, Another exclusive feature only windows phone gets this. None of the android or ios gets Xbox integration.
            * people hub is the best place where you can integrate all the social network together at one place.
            * Most easiest OS to attach the files and send mails.
            * Fastest growing OS according to Forbes Inc.

            So at last My point is For Rs. 10,000 Lumia 520 is the best Smart phone. Don't have second thought. Go for it.
            I am happy to be a "LUMIAN

                              by last ms anouncment 'wp8 os support only remains 18 months till july 2014 n after than ms stops working on wp8 os means stop support on wp8 like wp7.5

                              but nw they change ther plan n they extends ther support period to 36 months i.e. july 2016 means they continue work on ths os till 2016 n they provide updates till that time

                                      I am fed up with this phone... I am a heavy Facebook user... But in this phone Facebook experience is worst... Even in S40 phones Have much more stable and feature rich Facebook application... Facebook Mobile version not displaying correctly and it leads to hang browser... UC is hanging and freezing often when ever i try to using Facebook and in IE the same happens... Facebook application for this phone is totally useless. It just application form of mobile web version. No live chat, share option uploading pictures via message and a lot of features missing... WhatsApp and WeChat also same less features and buggy... Notification system sucks... Don't buy this phone if you are intended to social networking...

                                        Good News: - Microsoft increases Windows Phone 8 support lifecycle to 36 months instead of previous 18.
                                        Words to worry about: - Official statement says "These updates will be incremental, with each update built on the update that preceded it. The mobileoperator or phone manufacturer may control the distribution of these incremental updates and update availability may also vary by country, region, and device hardware capabilities" - No mobile operator locked devices in India so that is out of the question, Phone manufacturer is Nokia, so its 99% chance we will get theupdates, the thing that has worried me the most is "device hardware capabilities", so lets say if certain update requires 1GB of RAM we are screwed. But then again WP8.1 is said to be coming to our devices. So hoping for the best.
