VIC, 03 Dec 2012You had to ask? A phone without Corning glass = FAIL.Yes its a FAIL!
Becoz the feature phone like asha 311 having protection from Corning Glass, why this phone not getting the best protection too. This is a high end device if you campare it with asha's series. Thats Why i call it a FAIL!

Lumia 820 cheap glass with external oleophobic coating in place of super quality Gorilla glass !

The Nokia Lumia 820 HAS scratch-resistant GLASS that is NOT made by Corning.
It has a glass that has a diffirent brand and definitely NOT by Corning.

....the Old gs2 is still One generation ahead in features quality.

Yes....i've confirmed from nokia itself abt gorilla glass. It has gorilla glass but gorilla glass 1 or 2....i'm not sure.

My ideal secondary phone would be a wp8 Nokia with 3.2'' screen, 800mhz processor, 400mb ram, 10mm thickness, 1500mah battery, 3.2mp camera, no storage but microsd card slot. Wouldn't it make sense for up to $200 sim free?

I have had the Nokia Lumia 820 for about a month now and think it is GREAT! Love the windows 8, spreadsheet, the expansion SD 32G slot and all the different apps. It is fast and just the right size and weight.

At first I really liked this phone and decided to buy it without any research. I've been a Nokia person for years but the constant lack of keeping up with the competition made me wanna switch to Android. Then this phone came out about 20 days ago and I decided to give it one last shot. Boy was I wrong!
This phone looks good, Windows 8 runs great but several issues, one of biggest being (in my case) lousy reception. I mean, people CAN NOT HEAR properly what I am saying and neither can I. Phones I used several years ago had better reception than this. No settings at all to fix this, so I have to repair a brand new phone (and pay for a repair).
Battery life sucks, you have to recharge it every night! Not too many apps, the same ones keep poping out. All of that would be somehow managable if it wasn't for the reception problem, that's inexusable and it's gonna make me having to sale this for whatever it's worth and switch to Android once it for all!

I purchased this phone a week ago with high hopes, but now I realise what a pile of cack it is!
1) Why isn't there a percentage reading on the battery? Every other phone I have had (Android and Apple), shows the percentage left on the notification bar, but not this phone. Do I have 3/4 left or 2/3? Who knows.
2) Why can't I add my own ringtones to this phone. I have looked it up on the internet (because you don't even get a user's manual with the 820) and a lot of other users are complaining about it. Let's face it, the ones on the phone really suck!
3) Why does the volume keep lowering itself on it's own? I have missed plenty of calls because I haven't heard it.
4) The alarm is awful; it only went off once in three attempts, and even then it was so quiet I hardly heard it.
Windows phone - never again!

Lumia 820 doesn't have Corning gorilla glass for sure.
But it has Scratch resistant glass. Pixel density is very less, display isn't good compared to lumia 800 and 900. GPU lacks in this phone.
Nokia could have built an amazing phone by increasing the mentioned points.
