N73 tips

Go register an account at

http://www5.ownskin.com/index

to create personalised themes, or download readily available themes created by other people.

To get Youtube videos onto N73, download flv player from download.com, and super converter at

http://www.erightsoft.com/SUPER.html#Dnload.

then find your desired youtube video. After FULLY loading the video, copy paste the url on http://keepvid.com/, choose "youtube". Download link appears, right click, save as. use super converter to convert to 3gp format. BINGO! you are done.

In standby-mode, press and hold 0 to launch your wap home page.

While writing text press and hold "#" to switch between Alpha mode and Number mode. You can also press a key long to insert its number.

If you have your keylock activated just press the on/off button to turn on your backlight to look at the time when it's dark without having to unlock the keypad.

To check your current firmware version simply type *#0000# in standby screen.

To check your IMEI (International Mobile Equipment Identity) type *#06# in standby screen.

To check your Bluetooth device address type *#2820# in standby screen.

In standby-mode, press and hold # to toggle between general and silent profiles

In standby-mode, press and hold right soft key to launch music player.

At the top of the main-menu and every folder, the keys 1 to 9 are shortcuts to the icons 1-9

In Settings > Phone settings > General, edit your start up welcome note / image

In Settings > Phone settings > Standby, edit your left and right selection keys for faster access

In Settings > Phone settings > Active standby appz, edit your shortcuts that shows on the main screen.

To switch off blue blinking light, go to Settings > Phone settings > Display, turn off sleep mode.

To auto lock keypad, press and release the ON button of the handphone ONCE, and choose “Lock Keypad”

N73 cannot set full screen wallpapers or animated gif wallpapers, but you can adjust image sizes accordingly ( eg: 440 x 480, or 240 x 320 ) to fit screen as much as possible.

To select all items, such as when clearing / deleting all messages in sent items folder, go to “Mark/Unmark”, select “Mark all”.

Create new profile, rename it as anything you want, and it will appear on the top of the main screen.

After installation of any games / applications, go Tools > File Manager > Installed files, and clear away the items ( if any ).

If certain games / applications cannot be uninstalled, try removing them in Tools > Application Manager

Switch off Bluetooth when not in use to prevent “blue-jacking”, or hacking of mobiles.

I am very disappointed with the N73. 1 week after getting the phone, the joystick broke off. The phone was replaced. Then the phone kept dying on me in the middle of conversation, very slow etc. I called Nokia and was told it was a software issue. I downloaded the software from the website which allows u to update software only to then realise that I DID have the most updated software. I handed it in for repairs (2nd time). Phone returned saying software was upgraded (with what??!). Then 2 days later, something went wrong with the microphone (I can hear callers, but they can't hear me). Phone in for repairs again. My service provider says Nokia must say if phone can be replaced and just not repaired (a further delay of 6 weeks). Frustrated! Need my phone for work, losing credibility as I now have a reputation for being the person with constant phone problems. I am tied into an expensive contract so am stuck with the N73. Nokia don't want to know, saying the phone must go in for repairs. My service provider says its Nokia's problem. How many more repairs, how many more days without a phone. Sad thing is I have always been a huge Nokia fan (Have had about 8 Nokia phones). Now, I am extremely unhappy and only think they will catch a wake-up if they start losing business. Never another Nokia phone!

Hello friends,
now i m using 1GB kingston miniSD card which is made in taiwan.
Whenever i load music more than 500mb it frequently show CORRUPTED.whats the problem,i dont know.
Now i want to change this brand.which brand should i choose?
Help me.

Hi Zul,

Welcome to the N73 family. Hope you are having a great time with yr N73 ME. To yr posting, I would say it not correct. You just have to know the right place to find them.

The first thing for you to do is to hit the search button here and you will see all the sites has been mentioned before with regards to the free download.

Sorry i cannot advise u on the other versio nthat u intent to change to as I have not tried it myself. But if you are interested in converting to ME then hit the search button, there are quite a lot of posting on this. Or refer to a few days back for posting by Sea Breeze.

Been reading yr post with regards to yr problem. My N73 has no such problems and the volume is loud and quality good.

Have not heard of anyone activating the music player while answering a call. Usually, the music is mute when a call comes in and continued when the call ends. So, my suggestion to you is update yr firmware and it that doesn't help, bring yr set to Nokia and have it service. I too had a slight problem with volume and Nokia had rectify that problem for me. I don'tthink u will get much help from here.

which firmware are u using?please send the version.
At present,i m using a firmware of IE.In this every thing is good except the camera.after capturing 5+ pics it frequently hangs.then i had to restart the phone.now i want to upgrade it to ME.
So i want suggetions from u.please help me.

People I have good news for you!

Der is a New Music Edition firmware coming out for N73 RM-133. Dis music Edition firmware will have audio quality N91 via the Music Adapter & using N91 earphones :) cant wait.

Nokia sent me email saying everything has been taken in to consideration & you shall expect a new N73 Music Edition Firmware soon...

i tried n yes it did the same thing with me... but u know what still the sound volume is not bad n i don't think that i'll listen to music while makin a phone call.. so i guess it's not a big deal... at least for me:)

other than that this mob is just AMAZING... i recommend it to everyone. Trust me u'll love it!!!

Make a call to someone(use headset) when the call gets connected, open your MP3 player and play a song, You will realize, the volume/loudness will be so high, Simultaneously while listing to the song, just diconnect the call, then you will realize the loudness/volume will become very low. I belive this is sutpid error of this phone. I did check the same stuff with N70 ME
and N80, but these phones did not have this error. Can you give me a permanent solution on how to fix this error with N73 ME. OR please advise me what can we do further.

Just got my new N73-ME. Congrate to nokia for keeping the traditional way for it's product = easier and friendly to use. 1 things because it is a new generation and new OS version, there is not much software in market. Can somebaody give me a link to web / wap, for me to look over the software that compatible with nokia N73-ME = such as free downloable theme...etc..

hello everybody!!

now i changed my opinion about the camera quality..my problem was fixed n the pics are really good now,, may b i got used to it:)

Actually what i like best in this set is it's music... AWSOME!!!

I just need to know how to activate the antivirus n how to upgrade the firmware too...can nebody tell me plz???

I am planning to buy N73 music edition.
Can anyone tell me that is there are difference in sound quality and loudness between N73me and N73 ?
Secondly does N73me comes with a "U" type headphones? If yes , can we also use the type of headphones which comes with n73 normal edition?

if you want to increase your loudspeaker listening to mp3, you just have to turn on the stereo widening and loudness on, this option is for the N73 music edition.
