For all those having problems with calls cutting out, messages struggling to send/receive, can I suggest turning off 3G and selecting GSM instead. I had similar problems on another phone a while ago and this worked for me. I now own an N73 and have done the same and, so far, have had none of the problems reported

To SIDA-IND and MERZ
there should any error in your downloaded NSU t/f pls re-download and also take care that you should download NSU from N73 support site.
MERZ, firmware update is free of cost

I have bought this and the first one after 1 glorious day of me configuring everything to my liking died absolutely when I put my 1Gb MiniSD card in it. Screen went blank and it slowed the WHOLE thing down to like 3 mins to scroll and get into functions and when camera was opened it would reset itself. The 2nd one (this week) started resetting itself out of the box and after every 5th or 6th keystroke/function. Maybe its just me but 100% struck out with this. Getting a 6233 to see what its like now !! Anyone else face the same ???

i followed the steps and downloaded the updater (that took me abt 1nd half hour)
but that was not in 1 sittng and was done using DAP. then i installed the software and run it. but said there is no update for ur software.
also on the nokia page, i could not go ahead of that download step (step3) as i didnot downloaded in 1 sittig.

Hi to all. Does anyone know about the auto install thing? If i have not installed applications in my mmc the phone tries automatically to install them. Whow can i disable this feature? Many thanks.

To SA and all other user eager to update firmware of N73
Sorry for my late reply to you (SA) because I couldn’t visit Gsmarena during last 3 days.
Anyway, I would like to respond you abt your questions as below:
(1) PRODUCE OF UPDATING FIRMWARE as below:
(a) First pls make backup of ur phone memory & memory card on ur PC as User data (contacts, photos, messages and files) and add-on applications such as Java games or Symbian applications will be deleted during the PC update.
(b) Visit http://europe.nokia.com/A4176089?N73 and select option UPDATE VIA PC then NSU (Nokia Software Updater) will be started to download (according to the Nokia it will take about 4 to 5 minutes via broadband connection), however as I was used 58kbs modem thus it’s take 2 hour.
(c) Once NSU downloaded then start this application and follow the instruction. (please keep in mind that you should keep connect the charger with phone because incase if during updating phone out of charge then it can be hang and you have to go to Nokia service center and also please ensure that you internet connection should also un-interruptible because if connection disconnect during updating then same result like out of charge battery).
(d) According to the Nokia firmware update takes about 20 minutes via broad band connection but as I was used modem connection thus it toke 4 hours.
(e) Once firmware update then the message will be shown on your PC screen that update is completed and you will see that your phone will restart and once phone restart then disconnect the charger and data cable from your phone).
(f) Now check the firmware by typing *#0000# on your phone and it will be shown as (mine firmware shown) after firmware updating as below:

PS: during updating procedure Nokia PC will show that your phone disconnects and your phone screen will be blank/black so doesn’t worry about that as it is normal. please also read FAQ on http://europe.nokia.com/A4176094 before starting the updating procedure as it will be more helpful for you.
(2) After update firmware, now my phone with 1GB memory card is working like rocket, however previously it was working like turtle.
Incase if you required any further hesitate then don’t hesitate to ask.
