I agree what you said, sometimes, all those negative comments are because of too far much expectations from users. Indeed, the phone's features are rich enough than we need it for.
I hv been using NOKIA phone for 5 yrs, i would say N73 is one of the great products among other nokia phones. i got this phone more than a week ago. I love it in all.

Hi all
I've been an avid Nokia fan since the time mobile phones were born. Starting from the brick-like 6110 to the slimmer 6310, then the smaller 6510 and finally the 8310. Would you believe that Ive been using the 8310 for the past 4 years now!
Needless to say, I simply love the phone, its small, light weight and it plays FM with superb audio quality. However, its not my love for the phone thats kept me from switching to a new one, its simply my inability to shortlist a good enough phone.
Not that I havent looked around or researched. I have spent many hours in stores around sydney and melbourne and on the net hoping to zero in on the right phone. And my frustration with not being able to come up with a viable Nokia alternative has many a times forced me to look at alternative brands....I have yet to make the switch.
Finally, after several years, I seem to like another phone. And thats the Nokia N73. Simple-looking, yet functionally rich, the N73 (on paper) seems to be the best choice. I am not one who expects the world and a half from his phone. I expect it to give me basic functionality, that of making calls and texting, with the throw-ins of listening to music and being able to click an odd picture every now and then. And all this without exhausting my battery within a day's time. And I do believe that the N73 will give me what Im seeking.
Ofcourse, I've been reading all soughts of reviews on the phone, some positive and others negative. However, I think the more negative reviews are from consumers who expect too much from their phone. Not that they are wrong, given the fact that the phone companies themselves claim their phones to be able to do all that and more. Yet, for me, with my conservative expectations, I think the N73 will be perfect.
The phone isnt available in Australia yet, but should be in the next couple of weeks. That's a good thing actually because it will allow me to read more about actual user experienes from all over the place. I hope this time, I'm not forced to defer my purchase ......... yet again.

this is the phone that is behind the idea of all-in-one. n93 is huge. n80 is weird. n90 is ok for the first month you have it. n70 is good.
I had n70, now I have n90. my next phone will be n73 (with better software).
or just buy a 3310 and a goo camera :P

After I've seen the compared pics of K800 and N73 from the link: http://www.mobile4arab.com/vb/showthread.php?t=473724 , I can speak louder: the photographic qualities of these gadgets are near IDENTICAL. But fot the smart-phone features, much bigger and better screen and better video recording, I will buy the N93 though.

I think there's no need to wait. If U like it, just buy it! Perfect phone is impossible 'cause Nokia won't sell other phones. Nseries will be very close to your dream but have never achieved this.
P.S. I think N73 is the best phone for me and I'll buy it soon!

~ELT~ said it best.... there's never a perfect time to buy a nokia. expect an n74/n81/n94 by the end of this year with all the n93 features in a compact slider form, but its gonna lack vibration/lens cover/flash or whatever so you have to wait again!

Such a true post, ELT. I could not agree with you more. I started with the idea to buy the N93. I said, whoa, it is the bomb diggity. Now, seeing the crappy pics, i will not pay 800 euros for 30 fps recording which is by far inferior from a real cam at a cheaper price. I am considering N73. Is it worth giving up wi-fi for a bit of improvement in pic quality? WTF, i'll buy the silver E70 and that is it.

Do you know what guys??
Who-ever want's to buy a Nokia, have to have a complete information about the product, czz when u buy it, the nexst day u'll have a dissappointment on it...
Look what happends with me...
Beofre 3 years 6600 has launched into shops, when i planed to buy it 7610 came , so i changed my mind, after all 6680 came with the 3G so i changed my mind too, later on... i heared the news about N-Series, The i was like OH MY GOD...i saw the N90 i was so inlove with it..one month later i saw the 2nd edition of N-Series it was N71 N80 and N92.so i changed ma mind again..when i planed to buy N80..N73 and N83 + N72 came...AND NOW WHAT?
this is not the prblem, the problem is when you are planing to buy one of two phones SOME STUFF ON THE 1ST PHIONE IS NOT FOUND ON THE OTHER PHONE...
Like N70 is simple..N90 no vibration..n71 SUCKS..n72 small keys...N73 POOR CAMERA...N80 bad battery..N91 heavy and small screen...N92..buying a TV is better...N93 A real camera is MUCH CHEAPER..
SO NOW..WHAT AM I GONNA BUY?
u know what? am thinking of buying a simple motorolla phone...and a 9.0 mgx camera + small Mp3 player...AND GET THE HEADACE BUZZ OF ME
THX AND YOU TAKE UR DISCUSSION...~!

like it's the first time nokia sets come with bugs included and s&&& design
how's the battery though? need an opinion from user, with medium usage.
and the cam is not that good compared to SE (well, it wasnt before either), but it's good still.
overall i think it's better with decent cam+decent video rec than good cam+bad video rec.

I think the bad photo quality of N73 is due to earlier firmware version. Nokia N80 had the same problems whet it's become to market.

i have to agree with the other unnsatisfied owners of this phone.... very poor build quality. the keypad is so crammed together and the joystick is a pain to use, its takes time to get used to texting with this.
camera is quite dissappointing too. the red coloring and the meshed edges come out much too often in indoor shots and night shots. the full potential can only be seen in bright outdoors.
very slow as usual for a smart phone and hanges every now and then. nokia didnt even put the new 300mhz processor for this. i thought they learned something after the n80.... but even the n80 is better than this phone.
