don't be deceived by people who are pretending they have this phone wherein they actually don't and what they do is discourage other people from buying this phone by posting negative comments based on lies! n78 is a lovely phone. it's a great multimedia phone in the midrange class. the good thing is its price is getting cheaper now. but i am more lucky because i bought this phone 3 weeks ago when its price slipped to 290 dollars, a great bargain deal! if this phone has build issues, well let me tell you that even high end and a lot more expensive phones have build issues also and some of them are even worse like n81!

Best NSeries ... moredon't even mention n81 as an nseries. you're ruining the entire portfolio! even you put 8gb next to its name, that phone is disgusting! the 3 year old n91 is even so much better than n81. the nseries with the worse build quality and cheapest materials - n81! n78 is the best nseries for its price. so what if n78 has software issues? well, that's just for now until new firmware comes out. while n81 is stuck in a miserable outdatedness! that phone should've been released 2 years ago if that phone has to claim its position in the market! n81 is a disgrace in the n96,n85,n78 family! some people have confusingly mistaken the n96 & n85 to a n81 which is a shame!

I cant think of a single n-series phone that is as bad as this one. Its a joke. I have never seen a phone with so many software issues or such bad construction. Yet, this thing has both. Id rather get the 6220 classic or 6210 navigator. At least they are better in so many ways.

Ive been a S60 Symbian user since the early 7650 days and even the Epoc Psion days, handling a s60 device is a piece of cake for me, i love this OS. But the N78 is such an insult to S60, its riddiled with buggy gimmicks, disappointingly poor build and terrible implementation of the Freescale CPU. This device shouldn't have appeard, or it just shouldn't have been a Nseries. The 6220c would have made for a better Nseries.
Its pretty obvious that Nokia realised that the N78 is a mistake by quickly announcing the N79.

My experiences with this phone for the past 2 months is great. I'm now using it as my main music player. It does the job excellently. Sound quality through the headset is great, much better than my iPOD Nano. User interface is a big jump from my previous 5700. It's now more visually appealing. The camera captures crystal clear pics and videos. FM Transmitter works well. The design of the phone is so beautiful and neat. I hardly notice the number keys until the lights turn on which is just so sexy for me. Wifi is very handy. I can browse the web anytime, anywhere for free. GPS is also a nice addition. Battery is not an issue for me. It gets me through a day of heavy usage. There are some software issues but that's excusable since this is just a new phone. I hope Nokia will release a new firmware update soon. But all in all, this phone is the bomb. I'll recommend it to anybody who wants a great all-round multimedia phone with a very reasonable price.

I felt like an id1ot when i used this poor device, im so happy i left it for a N82. Next time i will know that the 1st device of a new platform is always crap, and sucks. Im sticking with my N82 until NOKIA release another Graphics Processed OpenGL Nseries. N78- A Curse, A Joke and a big Mistake.

Jens, 30 Sep 2008this phone microSD can support up to how many GB? anyone kn... morethis phone can handle up to 8gb cards. i have a sandisk 8gb microsdhc installed in my n78. it works fine. great multimedia phone for a very low price! don't worry guys. new firmware will come out soon and it should fix known bugs we've encountered. this is the best for its price!

The fm transmitter on mine was useless, and my friend's one also doesn't work like a fm transmitter should, its just useless. The N78 doesnt have as many features as a N82 or N95. If you can get a 2nd hand N95-2 or N95-NAM OR N82 then get it avoid the N78, back cover rattled and moved, i can beleave people are actualy buying ths device. My old N80 could handle videos and mobitubia better than N78, my N81 handled videos better, and my old Sony FM transmitter for my old w800 did the job so much better. The fm transmitter in N78 is a cheap gimmick. Rather get a N82 like i did or wait for the N79 which will be 350Euro which is a good price.

The N82 indeed has far better tech than a N78. The N82 does video recording at VGA 30FPS.
Has TV-Out, Accelerometer, 5mp camera with an internal camera lense protector AND external, Xenon Flash, PowerVR MBX2 Graphics Processing Unit that makes the N82 able to handle Graphic Accelerated games like GlobalRace, QuakeII OpenGL, videos at above 30fps VGA. Etc. . . The N82, N95 and E90 make the N78 look like an old Atari.
