And finally, there are hacked Nokia Maps 2.0 came out recently, which allowed you to use navigation free. I'd understand paying $250 for the phone and pay to use navigation, but when it's ~$450 for the phone + $ for so-so Navi... Nokia, give me a break. Even though it's v2.x of Nokia Maps s/w - it's still using inferior algorythms to calculate routs, alot less precise them standalone N/S (I'd say +/-30 meters in worst cases), aquires sattellite signal unbelievably long (you're REALLY lucky if it takes 1 minute). And to pay for it?... No, thanx Nokia. :)

Thanx jake. The only problem is that namibia is a third world country and there is only one shop in the hole country that knows about the n78 and that sells it. And i cant wait to buy this phone because i am waiting already a long 2 months, what can i do?

i wanna know about the N78 speaker volume, izit loud enough? As loud as N81? If the N78 speaker volume is loud, i will buy this phone, else i will buy N81.

My n78, I just bought it for P22,000.00(in the philippines) so equals to just only $500! and yes! n78 is a worth it phone! so grab one yours! and all people out there! get an n78! hehehe! you'll never regret it! thanks!^_^

Where i live in namibia the n78 costs N$ 5800, that is equal to U$725. This is way to expensive, can someone please give there coment or is this the real price of the n78.

Can someone please answer. I am interested in buying a phone that will replace my camera and GPS. Why do I have to pay for GPS on this phone when it is free on an ordinary TomTom? I would appreciate any sensible comment... asap tnx

I am interested in buying a phon... morei just bought the phone a few hours ago and i checked that it was free. almost every application in any nokia phone is free. i think that you should pay for the internet usage. but i am not sure but i know that you do not have to pay for the application. oh and by the way. its an amazing phone. haha.

... moreU can turn the "effect" to ON:
Menu -> Tools -> Settings -> General -> Personalisation -> Themes -> General -> Theme effects -> On
Its true that w/o the effect, the phone reacts much faster than before. As for the NAviwheel, just need some time to get use to the touching.
Its fine with me though.
But do have a little problem with the GPS, after the updates, it seem to take longer to get the fix. I had just redownload the map of Singapore & Malaysia, hope it works better. Will try it again tomorrow morning.

Just installed firmware 12.046, and I can't say I like it.
Some visible differences:
1) Cool effects of rotating when going to camera mode gone, which means it goes to camera mode more quickly
2) The naviwheel is now INSENSITIVE
Tell me your own experiences as I want to see whether you have the same issues.
I really hate the insensitive naviwheel, I have to circle a few times just for it to move one step to the next icon.

I have the uk o2 version of this phone but cant get it so work on wlan. The phone hangs every single time i try to connect and the only way to restart is to remove the battery. I tried other wlans as well and it does the same thing.
Anyone have a similiar experience??
