steff, 22 Aug 2009this phone has a lot of bugs in the software and the phone ... moretransition effects (theme effects)can be turned off.
go setting>personlisation>themes>general>options>theme effects>off
it may solve hanging problem.

Siw, 21 Aug 2009Is it wise if I switch from Nokia E71 to Nokia N79? pls. re... morethis phone has a lot of bugs in the software and the phone often freezes(about 5-6 times/week)and I have to pull out the battery and start it again.
the UI interface of this version of symbian is slowing down the phone and the transition effects can't be canceled
the accelerometer works only when you rotate the phone to the left.
the touch d-pad doesn't work in all the windows of the menu.
when in standby mode, there is no clock on the screen(the screen is turned off); I have tried changing this from the menu and read a lot of reviews about this and...there simply isn't a solution to this problem.
i like about this phone that it has a very good camera (photo and video), an FM-transmitter(i can play songs from my phone to my radio in the car) and the battery life is relatively good for a Symbian phone- about 4 days of standby(unlike my other phone -Nokia N95)
I bought this phone for about 350 euro, so it's kind of expensive considering all it's problems
at this price i could have boutht a better Sony-Ericsson

hey guys...i have been using N79 for about a month now and i am not satsfied with the camera performance..i was using N82 before this set and i think the camera was the best in any handset,i am very confused how to improve the performance of the camera of N79..can anyone be kind enouhg to guide me..

I sort listed few models for my uses: e71, n79, 5130.
My requirement is mostly good music, no touch screen, good speaker (as i will be using music on speaker mostly) with good memory capacity, sometimes, net surfing as well.
Pls, suggest. You can also suggest any other model as well, may be of any other company as well.

This is something strange and weird since I have been using Nokia Phones for a long time and with airtel I get the best signal and clarity......Also I would like to mention some times back I did experience this thing in my Nokia 3250 but it got rectified on its own....in ur case if the sim works fine then its problem with phone only if others Sims also work the same way as airtel......

Hi,
I am form kerala and i have a problem with my nokia n79 network connection.I am using Airtel sim.
when i move to an out of coverage area then newtwork will not show(or no network is there) right.
The problem is when i travel form NO network coverage area(phone not shows n/w symbol that time ) to any area having network coverage,
then network is NOT selected AUTOMATICALLY.(my phone n/w selection is set to automatic).then if i try to make a call it shows "No n/w coverage"
Only way the phone to regain n/w is by getting an incoming call or Switch off and on the phone.
This Problem is only for airtel connection. for all other connections like bsnl,aircel etc it works fine.
Also its not my airtel sim problem because i checked with diffrent airtel sim but same result.
also i checked those sim in another nokia phone (N73) those aitel sim works fine.
I contacted Nokia care in cochin and they taken my N79 for servicing and gave me back after 2 weeks. but the problem still exist.
they are saying that its problem of airtel n/w. but those airtel sim works in other nokia phones...
Then i contacted airtel office. But they are saying that its problem of my phone since those sim works in another nokia phone.
Any one having same problem???? please reply.
Is this problem exist for all nokia N79 phones?
A way to check this problem with out going to out of n/w coverage area and coming back to a coverage area is by
select - settings- network settings-change from automatic to manual- now it search for n/w providers and show a list of providers
-now choose another provider rather than airtel(the phone is having AIRTEL sim) for eg. say cellone.
now you will not get access to the cellone n/w because the sim is AIRTEL- why i do is that now the N/w will get disconnected.n/w symbol not shows now.
now manually choose airtel it self or cancel manual search and make option back to Automatic n/w selection . it search for home network.. unfortunately my phone not selecting Home network, showing as
"No access" . if i restart the phone suddenly n/w shows up.

guys which one to buy n79 or 5530.i really like the bigscreen, new os,kinetic scrolling,cheaper than n79 but what puts me off is the poor camera of 5530,gps and 3g is not a concern.so which one should i get?
is wathing videos and surfing net on n79 is good and acceptable in 2.4" screen?

ahd, 19 Aug 2009hi buddy, u dont have to b so much worried about it bcause ... moreheyy thnks ahd. i hve nokia 6500 slide in my family d quality of its 3.2MP carl zeiss in bad light is way better dan mu N79,but in day light it can compete wid a digicam.
suggest any change in d setting dat will improve my cam in bad light.
wat is latest f/w update for d fone available in india?
mine now is 11.049.
