u know what,i thought nokia n79 is the best cell phone,,but now i think this phone is very poor very bad and i hate it :S

its fully function in symbian phone.deisgn look like normal but can give comfortable to all people.one special thing is the battery cover can change the themes colour.this is the one we never meet before.i be a salesman....... very recommend it.

In addition to my previous comment I wish to say that I have just updated my N79 (to new version 11.049) and I noticed that my N79 is now 2 times quicker in all operations., unbelivable!
It is a bit strange to read many of absolutely different opinions on same subject from people in this site., for example about camera! I am sure that on PC monitor both N82 and N79 are of the same quality., at least to my eyes:) The N82 display is better than on N79, this is true. In generl it seems that more than half of the N79 in our hands are the ones which were produced for certain market and then were "remade" to work in other world regions. This is why it is kind of lottery with N79. Otherwise there is no explanation why n my N79 camera works erfectly while the other users say the camera is rather poor.

Hei freinds! I had N82 and wanted to change for N79 becasue of FM transmitter (I use this option inmy car). So, I solled N82 and got N79., my first N79 I reteurnedbackto the shop because that N79 did not work properly (poor camera, slow, lots of other problems). O, I retuned it back and took another N79 whoch tomind mind works very nice. However, what was a bad surprice to me - when eading in internet the letters are not as goo readable as in Nokia 82. My opinin in general is so:
- if you like making pictures then N82 is a bit better in night time (N79 also makes realy good pictures in nght time, much better than myother mob phone SE C902 believe me!)
- if you like seving internet, then N82 is better becasue of better readable letters probably due to some phone screen specifics
- battery is better on N79 for sure
- FM transmiter is a very good thing but is rather "weak"; if you use seprate FM transmitter then it is much "stronger" and kees your music much cleaner than built-in VM transmittr in N79., still built-n is very convenient and about 90% of the time it works OK (10% of the time it is blocked by radio wave and you listen to some strange radio noise)
Very Important! I do not why but my previous N82 could not "attach" to one of public free wi-fi internet lines in a big Shopping centers ear my house; I checked and found he other owners of N82 ad same troubles. However, N79 does it easily to my great surprise:)
So, hope it will help someone to make his/her choice!

i m using this mobile for 5 months..everything is ok.
it has a good quality camera abviously.good sound quality, light weight, 16 m colors,sexy covers, no hangs, very fast, resale value, good gps, wifi rocks, sleek,slim,smart,sexy....
so what do u want ...jus go n buy...

i update to new version 11.049 and very fast than previous.i dont understand why u all got slow after update.and i very happy with this phone than diamond.i hate diamond i use it for 1 day and sold

ok lets end it here by complaining the new firmware issue.
I will make it as simple as possible to make you all understand.
Personally i am using this phone with the latest firmware. Some problem with the older version have been resolve in the previous firmware, but some are still remain.I will list it down to you all respectively.
Major problem that are not resolve:
-idle screen(the screen went blank after pressing keylock. no power saver appear which mean you cant see any date or time unless u press a key. Nokia had received over thousand of complain regarding to this issue and this have been classified as a major problem in most of the forum but i dont understand why nokia never do anything about this in the latest firmware.Nokia refuses this as a problem in their reply as to save much battery life.(lolz if this is the way then why inside the phone there is a power saver function which let users to select wat type of power saver screen they prefer eg date,time and text.)
-it actually perform slower then older version,in my case.
Minor problem that have been resolved:
-navigation key(selection key) light have been set to on with the keypad light.I dont know you all notice it or not. In short, previous version the navi key light will only light up as a breath light and it would not shown up after words,but with the latest version it lights up when u are using the phone.
-blank camera screen and rotation have been resolved.sometimes camera go hang and panic without reason.
-songs list,(you choose song A but it plays song B)have been resolve.
-same as text messages and call list.(resolved too)
-camera flash continue light up for no reason
This is some of the problem that I notice and others are very minor so i didnt list up here.
To be frank the phone is generally good,huge battery life (3~4 days for moderate usage),but the quality of captured images is far behind from any other 5megapixel camera. The sound is generally acceptable in above average level.
However,whether to choose this phone is depend on you,anyway the pricing is acceptable too.For me it is quite a fair deal.

this phone is way better than the HTC diamond for obvious reasons such as its battery lifespan and compared to diamond,it doesnt hangs as frequently as diamond.plus,its response and display is way better and it has all the diamond features with the price cut in half.duh

I am using this phone for the past 3 months, and i have updated to the latest build: 11.049.
Here are my comments:
1. The camera quality is very poor (not a 5 Meg Camera)
2. It hangs sometimes
3. Images taken just rotate when I try to view them (even when orientation is turned off)
4. Flash is poor
5. When playing the music & suddenlly i try to access someother menu then phone hangs.
Only looks are good.
I do not suggest any one to buy this phone.
I thought of buying HTC Diamond before buying this N79. I now feel HTC diamond would have been a better phone though its windows based.

not so impressd by this phn..using it frm last 3 weeks..had n73 b4 this 1..n73's cam was too mch bettr than n79's..audio quality thru earphns wid both n73 n n79 are d same..whereas audio in spekrphns frm n73 rocks..
i say n73 the best ever phn!!!!!!!
n79 way behind..
i jst wishd dat n73 had wifi too!!!!!

Howard, 11 Jan 2009Have you downloaded Nokia's latest firmware version 11.049 ... moreof course i have upgraded to newer version which was i think 11.049...but the problems remains problems...nothing change except the phone get a little more slower... what about the keypad problem??? can it be solved by firmware???? big problems can never be remove by software updates....they always remains problems....

Adil, 12 Jan 2009can any body can tell me dat the flash of n79 is equivalent... moreif you want a camera phone that dont change your N82 bcoz N79 has very bad camera..... it cannot match the result of N82....and in indoor use N79 has the worse camera.....the rating for camera phones of N-series are:
1-N82
2-N95
3-N95 8Gb
4-N85
5-79
6-N96
other N-series are not 5mp so i dont include them...

I've upgraded my fon to version 11.049 and it works slower than version 10 (the version before)!!!i was so dissapointed!!it takes ages to install stuff into the fon n opening n-gage takes much longer than before as well.
i hope they come out with newer version as soon as possible tat can improve my fon speed.
out of curiosity, i wonder if there is a way to downgrade my software version back,haha!!

type *#0000# n get what firmware ya have.ya wl get a option to upgrade firmware yourself in the phone.go 4 it n upgrade if ya have gprs/3g. Awesome now no need to go nokias shops.enjoy
