To maximus,
get an N79 if you want life, but if you want ONLY CAMERA for stilll image shots in both daylight and night then go for the ages ol' N82.

Anonymous, 01 Jan 1970I would choose the N79 over the N82, even if there is no practical difference between them for the average user of the phones functions, the two phones have almost similiar specs for most of their functions.
But the ergonomics of the N79 is better than the N82, with keypad that is easier and faster to use for those to do a lot of SMSing and texting.
The N82 keypad have narrow keys that are a little egdy, not so well designed keys for fast texting.
N79 have Internet radio, A-GPS and Flight Mode. N82 has GPS, not A-GPS. A-GPS finds the signals from the GPS-satellites faster, and is faster in use.
Max Memory Card Size 8GB for N79,4GB for N82.
The N79 has GSM Standby Time 372 hours,N82 225hours.
WCDMA Standby Time 406 hours for the N79, 210 hours for the N82.
The N79 is upgraded when it comes to software, and is refined compared to N82 on many points.
Here in Europe the N79 and N82 have almost the same price, so with the N79 you get better specs for the same price of a N82, and 2 GB more flashmemory.
The N79 is the better, newer and offer more for the same price as the N82, it would be my choice.

Thanx zaheed,,N79 reminds me about n73 whics as far as i know best seller,maybe next major firmware update will makes n79 to be gr8 device n most valuable nseries with gr8 capability,affordable price but on the other hand my n82 almost 1 year old,and need gr8 successor,maybe n79/n85/n96 can replace n82/n95 coz we know samsung become stronger with g810,innov8,pilot (also s60),pixon,omnia..as handset user,i hope there will be gr8 competition n fairplay between these giant vendor (no1 & 2 market share),,both of them also team up n bring s60 platform to the next level!!

I just play with n79 test phone @ nokia gallery,1st impression:
Slimmer n pocketable,xpresOn cover,funky n younger design,than my n82
1200mA battery,it's more compromising
Brighter display but sharpness comparable with n82
Loudspeaker a little bit louder but crisp
Keypad just good
FP2 ui more eyecandy,faster overall ui performance but laggy in gallery,ngage,n gameloft java games especially when sound turned on compared my n82
Videos rec still behind n82 but not too far,i think vga @ 25fps
Images still behind n82,but oudoor result gr8 too
Music thru headphn so amazing kick my n82,but still behind my mom i450
4gb package microsd so instresting
Better build quality
OK this my opinion,peace for all,,maybe someone will write full review..
Conclusion : gr8 nseries n all round performer,more fun n joy with n79,but n82 still imaging n vids flagship from nokia although it's 1 year older than n79

For all of u who has N79 already,
please check it out, for asian market, where did the phone manufactured? China or europe(Finland/Germany).
i do own N78 chinese made, and think that the quality cant beat my n-gage classic finland made.

Like my friends say, it is now November 30, a whole one year after the N82 released. So if I were to choose between N82 and N79, I would definitely go for N79 simply because the newer, the better
in music
in photos
in stability.
(Altho when I bought that phone The N82 was never playin around in my mind lolz xD).

Aris, 29 Nov 2008I wanna sell my gr8 black n82..i wanna try n79 but it's too... morebuddy i think u go for n79!bcoz samsung g810 is 1 yr old!and buddy dont worry about scratches!
all pastic body doesn't get scratches that much!and the plastic is relly gr8!
and u acn even use a cover!
and another thing even the guys at nokia shop complained about build quality of n82!but even they love n79!
and another thing i have been dwindling to by n82 for a long time but the speaker issue',scratches,looks,and keypad was the main thing that restrained me from buying it!it almost pushed me to buy lg viewty!
thanx God n79 was here!
buy it without any doubt!
g810 has gr8 cam wid optical zoom!but the video is not good!i think 20fps!and its samsung!lots of bug!

Zaheed right buddy,,although n82 utilize powerful omap platform,but n79 is brand new tech,,perfect imaging device go for n82,all rounder go for n79..i heard n82 omap platform utilize powervr mbx 3d acclerator so it can run quake 3 (open gl 1.1 compliant game,gr8 3d grapics gameplay) but n79 freescale can't run it,,u can see 3d capabiliy at www.jbenchmark.com

I wanna sell my gr8 black n82..i wanna try n79 but it's too expensive n i'm afraid it will scratches easily like n82..samsung g810 just launched in my country indonesia..i love it coz luxury design,metal body n also featured s60 fp1,5mp af,xenon,gps,wifi,n 2.6 inch,,price about 350 usd,well give me advice about this handset pliz..maybe compare with n79/n82

here it goes!(i have done a lot of research on this two phones as i was also in dilemma like u!)
camera:
n82 and n79 has the same module of camera(as mobile-review suggests!)
but gsm arena suggests that n82 has better camera!
i go with mobile-review!
bcoz i have compared both day light pictures of the two!
flash:
xenon of 82 is the best for still photography!but cant be used for video!
but dual led of 79 can shoot videos in the dark!and also very bright!so u can nearlky take good photos in dark!
speed:
nothing beats 85 and 79 in speed!(u can check ne review sites!)
hang and glitches:
i hav this set for almost 3 weeks!not a single time has it ever hanged or sowed down!
both has smae amount of free ram! but 9.3 fp 2 helps 79 alot!
looks!
the n79 looks the best among nseries if not among the whole nokia!and also get 5 color choice including two front colors!(alot of new 1's r also coming!)it is also the slimmest!
keypad!
every one had an issue with d keypad of 82 but n79's is really soft and smooth to type!(i type alot atleast 25 sms a day!huge ones!)
battery:
n79 has much beter talk time and standby time than 82!it also goes for movies,browsing,and video,gps!
weight:
79 is really light!
music quality:
this is one of the best sounding phone both in ear and in speakerphone from nokia(admitted by most of the review sites!)music is clear and crisp and loud!
82 had issues with d loud speakers!
browsing:
is better than 82 because of symbian 9.3!
graphiocs accelerator!
n79 lacks one but 82 has it!
but u woint notice that much difference in a 2.4 inch screen!
fm transmitter:
n79 has one but 82 don't
and finally!
n79 is brand new technology!whereas n82 is an year old!
so it's upto u buddy which to buy!
