if i buy a touch phone that duznt hv proximity sensors in it, what wud b its effect..??wud it mean that during a call, the screen will get locked, and i wud need to manually unlock it b4 i can disconnect the call..??

kurt1, 02 Jan 2011can sumone plz tell me the disadvantages of not having prox... moreA proximity censor is a sensor track nearby objects by emitting radio waves. phones which has a capacitive touch screens are sensitive enough for a small touch by your face to put your call on hold or end it or do an of the on screen commands. So in these cell phones proximity sensor is used to track your face or ears when you are in a call and lock the screen automatically to avoid all possible interruptions to the call. it locks the phone only during a call and only when the sensor detects a nearby proximity. So your phone will automatically unlock itself when you take out the phone from closer to your face. The proximity sensor also can be used to lock your device automatically when you put it in your pocket (or hand bag) and unlock it when you take it out. there is an app in ovi store pocket lock/proxy lock to do it (it costs 6$)

people have such a short memory. I didn't know how i got rid of the n97 the greatest fiasco of all phones with a rate of unsatisfied customers close to a 100%. (the satisfied ones bought it as an epensive brick!). Wake up people, nokia is still surviving on old reputation and ads with no substance whatsoever. They claim a long list of features out of which only few work properly and use the customers as "paying" lab rats to test their products and to provide them with feedback to fix their never ending crashes and bugs!
I mean, what better arrangment could a company dream of than to sell unfinished products? Fool me once shame on u, fool me twice shame on me.

M also gonna buy dis mobile for same multimedia fe... moreMy "high profiled" Nokia N8 is undergoing 21+ days of "repairing and observation" in first month of purchase [2 Dec, 2010 to 2 Jan. 2011]! I have sent it for "care" @ Nokia Care 3 times during this time. It's still with them. I have contacted Nokia though their support page. Let's see what happens!!!

guys i am about to buy N8. but i have heard various problems of n8's hardware and software. it hav 12 m.p cam, HDMI out, amoled screen, 680 MHZ processor hence look more familiar for user like me . i lke multimidia watching movies hearing songsngs. playing games ? so should I go for it ? . please tell. Anonymous, 02 Jan 2011I got my N8 2 days ago and i just wanna know how long the b... moreN8 should easily last for 1.5 days with heavy use and 2 days with moderate use. Don't bother much, it will take at lest a week or two for the battery to become stable and give the rated performance. charge your phone using the charger provided in box (Avoid using old Nokia chargers came with other products) and allow at least four to five complete charging-discharging cycles (will take 1 to 2 weeks) before to worry about the battery performance. Not only for N8 its the case for any mobile phones.
