Symbian does not need all the extra processing power to be fast. The n8 does not need 1 ghz and 512mb ram. It would be more like a bonus.

Didn't know they sold mobile phones outside the US. Good to know you trash countries are coming around with this trash phone.

Anonymous, 01 Jan 2011really. i cant think of any fone to classify under N8. mayb... moreAnd don't think one can talk about some first enthustiasm in my case any more. I've had it since the last day of september. It doesn't lag, hang or crash. Physical build is totally flawless, it looks frigging stunning, works like a beast, has the best reception I've ever seen on any device that has a frigging antenna.

I wouldn't trade my N8 for 3x of any phone out there. Or maybe I would, I'd sell the 3x phones given and buy 4 new N8s in different colours ;)

Anonymous, 01 Jan 2011really. i cant think of any fone to classify under N8. mayb... moreAre you just hugging spec sheets or speaking of experience? N8 doesn't really leave short in benchmarks even with it's lower processor, that's due to it's GPU that beats most SoC GPUs other phones have.

Weak resolution is something I guess is abit personal. Personally I could not hope for any sharper/higher res screen when I look at my N8, maybe if u put it next to some phone with higher resolution you can tell some difference, but I have nothing to complain about N8s screen or resolution. Higher resolution reduces battery life, and I personally value battery life over some bigger resolution in numbers that my eyes won't even notice.

I guess the OS is a personal thing too. Personally you would have to pay me ALOT for me to use Android or iOS or Bada instead. They have their sides, but fancy transitions animations or 1000 fart applications in an app store will not satisfy me, I rather have my actual features of Symbian^3. You can't really make any assumptions about Symbian^3 based on earlier Symbians, since it's so, SO much better than earlier Symbians. The looks are pretty much the same, but personally the Midnight theme has spiced it up very nicely for me. Not a single thing I wanted to do with my phone has been left undone just cos I've used a Symbian. It aint the prettiest or smoothest, but it has so many features and it's reliable that I can't honestly complain.

I hope you have actually some in-depth experience instead of just talking by looking at the spec sheet and judging from earlier Symbians. Cos then your very, very wrong.

Wheez, 31 Dec 2010That's for the future, it'll still be a while until N8 will... morereally. i cant think of any fone to classify under N8. maybe iphone can go lower, coz of the restrictions it imposes on the users. But hardware and OS wise there is nothing under N8. Low res, extra weak processor, bad OS, how can anything possible be under it? And all those weak components come at a high price. Guess you can sell a Lada for 100,000 euro and it will still be a crappy car.

Compare an N82 to its contemporaries, its a very good fone. Compare N8 to todays competitions and it fails on as good as all accounts, and the xenon flash loses to the oldie N82. N8 is competing with its contemporaries and cant even outperform N82, how in H is dat a high end unit?

I advice everyone who have the chance to test an N82 to compare the flash filling to N8. N82 was constructed when nokia had a Finland mentality, a strive for quality and no flaws. N8 is constructed with what Nokia has leqarned from samsung. And what has Nokia learned from samsung? They learned that most users are too ignorant to mind flaws, samsung has always made flawed fones and still sold well, they learned that onli the engineers and enthusiasts will mind the flaws, the masses don care, throw in a few high specs as a consolation price (N8 cam) to get the attention away from the bad sides. It works, ppl are buying it and praising it as a good fone, but in a year we can come back here and most ppl will agree that N8 was a bad fone. Just like N97, the enthusiasm will cool off and we will see it for the cr@p it really is.

Anonymous, 31 Dec 2010i got a chance of using an N8 borrowed from a friend. i'... moreCould figure it depends abit on what programs do you have in the background. It could be that if it's some abit more random application that it can have a memory leak. I've had the N8 since first day it was available to customers in the world and I've never had it say that the memory is full. Then again I don't do totally senseless multitasking, but I never close the browser or well, anything from the background. I usually have some 7 things running on the background always.

I reset my phone every few weeks as a default, at least the restart clears memoryleaks if present and fixes other possible slowness or anything else. Think about a computer in active use that never gets rebooted or shut down, it'll slow down and stack useless stuff in the background.

i got a chance of using an N8 borrowed from a friend.

i'm using the same multi-tasking things i usually do on my devices, but as i open my seventh app together with 6 already running on the background, i got a "Memory full! Close some applications and try again"

is there anyone with this kinda problem? or is this NORMAL as N8 is also a Symbian device? thanks

bhow, 31 Dec 2010so how can i change it from 9mp to 12 mp? where will i go??If you want to change your camera mode from 9mp to 12mp, just pinch your camera screen inward (it'll go from full screen to smaller view). You can again pinch outward to make it 9mp. You can also do this from option. Similarly, if you want to change your video mode from hd to normal, just pinch inward, to go back to hd again just pinch outward. You can also do that from option. Hope this little shortcut trick helps you all.
Keep N8-ing. Wish you a very Happy New Year.

mogul khan, 31 Dec 2010n8 users/lovers, just want to ask if the battery of our n8 ... more@Mogul Khan.

I suspected myself that if the battery runs completely flat, then you wouldn't be able to turn the phone back on again. This is only my opinion based on reports I've read about dead Nokia N8's, which Nokia has acknowledged and agreed to repair or replace defective units with out question. However, they said it was down to a manufacturing defect and would say no more.

To be on the safe side though, I never let my battery drain completely and charge it when it gets down to it's last bar.

                                    Hope that helps.
