The Nokia N8 powers off very often and when you go to the nokia care centre they will re install the software and say that the software has a problem.
Its very cumbersome every time u go to the care centre when ever its not powering up ..........................

I had bought Nokia N8 phone 1 day after its launch on 13/10/10 from Nokia Priority Partner Store at Inorbit Mall, Malad Mumbai. It was a grey color handset. On 14/11/10 when I tried to charge the battery of the phone charging did not happen and the charging indicator light also did not glow to indicate that charging is taking place. Worried I consulted the handset manual which mentioned that if the battery has been completely discharged then it may take several minutes before indicator may show charging taking place. But even after 2 hours of plugging in the charger neither battery got charged nor did indicator show that charging is taking place.
On morning of 15/11/10 I took my handset to the aforementioned Nokia Priority Partner Store from where I had purchased it and told them about the problem. They checked the handset and after half an hour told me that it needs to be sent to Nokia's Delhi facility for the rectification. I was also told that it would take maximum 8 working days for the problem to be rectified and handset to be handed back to me. Today We are sitting on 20/12/10 and I am yet to receive my handset back. Thus, my handset has been with Nokia care for 36 days. In the meantime, when I inquired from the concerned people at the Nokia Priority Store I was told that my handset should have been replaced but it was sent back from Delhi facility by making repairs. Hence, the store management has shipped it back to Delhi insisting on a replacement of the handset as per company policy as it was a manufacturing defect. This was on 7/12/10.
The store manager even offered me a standby handset as well which I declined as I wanted to enjoy the experience of using my N8 only. This being the reason I bought it the very next day of launch ignoring the advice of my friends to wait for some days and buy it from Croma at a lower price. In fact, by October end, I saw the same handset being offered at around Rs.2000 less at Croma.
After that, on 14/12/10, I got a call from Nokia Care office in Goregaon (E) informing me that my handset would reach Mumbai by 22/12/10. Then, on 16/12/10 I again received a call from the same Nokia Care office that replacement handset for me has arrived but its IMEI no. label has slightly come off but the set is perfect so I have the option of either collecting it in that condition or I can refuse to collect it in that condition. In this case they would then again call for a new handset from Delhi facility and hand it over to me by 25th or 26th December 2010.
Even after, writing to the customer care @ Nokia and calling them up several times there has been no proper response from the company.
Hence, would request all those who are considering buying Nokia N8 to consider this and stay away from this Handset.

I am a telecom Engin... moreYou are absolutely correct, but I don't think E7 is gonna make a big deference cox it will also pack the same quick office. The version of quick office is just the app for symbian^1, as you can see it still has the double trap annoyance, but its just a better of time, I'm sure office with multi touch and better UI will be absolve soon, and for your information most android devices ships with the same quick office product, but when you see the usability of them you can be quite sure that there will be a better app soon available. Quick office debuted in symbian and they simply can't avoid it. The fact that quick office is not functional at the moment doesn't man that N8 is bad our crap.

I don't know why people do like Nokia N8 so much. My wife recently had a gift of Samsung S8500 Wave. I discovered this phone having super AMOLED display technically much superior as compared to Nokia N8 having AMOLED display. The HD video shot with this samsung phone is a lot more crisp, stable, well lit than Nokia N8. In complete darkness, I shot very crisp, beautifully balanced color videos with this Samsung phone as it has a video light option as well, disappointingly no video light option is there in Nokia N8. The frame rate is almost exactly 30 in the said samsung phone as compared with slightly less than 25 for Nokia N8. I analyzed a lot of videos of Nokia N8 and always got disappointed to see blurry videos. In low light with no video light, the videos are even more disappointing. The processor speed of this Samsung phone is 1GHz, as compered with slower 680MHz processor.
And comparing the price, Samsung S8500 Wave is available in Pakistan for $345 and Nokia N8 price is $560, a huge difference. I think Nokia company has hired some professional people, probaly from the fields of showbiz, film, photography, to project their Nokia N8 so that people attract to buy this rubbish phone instead going for a lot lot better Samsung phones.

I bought this piece of crap at $ 525. I am a telecom Engineer and work for Nokia sister company in charge of networks(Nokia- Siemens)I travel alot and use my phones heavily. Office is very poor and always frustrates me when i get work related doc. I wish i had purchased a different type of phone. Its good for multi-media purposes but lags behind on bussiness issues.
If you are a college student with money to spare buy it, but a serious guy wait for E7. Hope it will sort us out. For all those spending good time writting how great the phone over other models, first its great as far as your usage is concerned. Remember apart from the basic phone functions other features are added to suit different people. A radio and fm transmitter may be great for you but absolutely irrelevant to me as i may never use them.

OthaB, 20 Dec 2010Annon, what I meant with the FM Transmitter is that when I ... moreSorry for not being clear enough, what I tried to say was I have no experience about that issue since I never got a chance to test it. Radio waves can be subjected to interference and what you say may be a limitation of the hardware, I found several other user complaining the same about fm transmitter. I hope my comments about usb on the go was useful to you at least.

Ooh, and the car's signal is so strong that I can use my phone from 10-12m away and it would still work
