There isn't much else to use for now on the N8 but i'm sure we'd have some better alternatives soon and hopefully free too!

After the dissapointment of the N97 the N8 comes as a breath of fresh air. It is what the N97 should have been. The following are the things I love about the N8 (and Nokia).
I plug my N8 into my computer and I have full access to the 3 drives, phone memory, mass memory and micro sd card regardless if ovi suite is running or not. I can copy, paste, rename, delete, move stuff etc like I could with any external hard drive. The lack of this feature makes the iphone unusable for me.
The camera and video quality are superb, even use at night produces excellent quality photos and good quality video. The xenon flash is truly better. Iphone and HTC are not in the same league as the N8 and so will not cut it for me with regards to photo and video.
When I travel internationally I used my N95 8gb for navigation then my N97 and now I will use my N8. I can use Ovi Maps offline so no data rates, I get free maps for the Americas and Europe so I do not have to rent a GPS unit when I rent a car and I get free turn by turn voice navigation. I have used my nokia phones alongside dedicated GPS devices while driving internationally (USA and Canada) and the only significant advantage of the dedicated units is the faster lock time. Google maps on the Iphone and HTC is excellent and in some ways superior to Ovi Maps but data rates are no fun and in some places even if the data rates are not a problem you may not be able to get or maintain a clean internet connection while driving. This makes the iphone and HTC unsuitable for me.
The FM transmitter is a feature I use a lot. I have several vehicles but regardless of which I use my phone and my music are with me especially if I am travelling and using a rental. The quality of the sound reproduction through the radio with the N97 was good but not great. With the N8 it is much better and thoroughly enjoyable. The iphone does not have this feature and I don't think the HTC phones have either (not sure about the HTC's however).
The nature of my job means that I may have to wait several hours in remote places so I use my phone with ZX Reader and my favorite books. I always found placing movies on my phone a difficult issue because of the limited formats supported. Things have changed with the N8. This phone plays almost all formats that I have and it is just a matter of copy and paste. The phone autodetects the video and places it in a list that you can select from. Playback quality is fantastic and the size is equivalent to looking at a 27 inch tv at a distance of 14 feet ( with my reading glasses on lol ). You may have to pay for apps on the iphone to do what the N8 does for free.
I use Skype and for video calling I use Fring. I find it amazing that I can do voice calling over the internet using edge with my data sim considering how slow a connection this is. It works don't ask me how. Video calling with Fring over WiFi is a simple affair.
For internet browsing I use Opera Mobile in fullscreen with a 200% zoom and this works marvellously. For text input I use Swype and for those of you who don't you should give it a try. I use voice recorder to record my calls if I need to and this comes with the phone and is free. Nokia panorama works surprisingly well for those 360 degree photographs and is also free. Qtorch is fantastic and has gotten me out of a dark place a time or two. The video editor is all buisness and does what it is supposed to do.
I do not use Facebook or Twitter or those social networking things whatever they are nor do I use my phone for gaming as I have an XBox 360 for that.
Fortunately I have not had any issues with the N8 so far. The only thing I really dislike (detest mabe) is quickoffice. It is horrible to use for excel files. If anyone knows of an alternative please let me know via this forum, thanks.
Well that's it. I hope this post has been helpfull or entertaining.

Indian, 19 Dec 2010Im not a against Nokia N8 :-), Today I had an experience on... moreHey bro, if you happened use an android you will know this, when u save a phone number with country code and when you receive a call without the country code your phone will only display the number, not the name of your contact even when you have the contact added to your phone. People who buy Android don't think that its useless if i cant get the caller ID displayed when i get a call even after spending 30K. Its a basic thing, but still missing.
