Anonymous, 04 Dec 2010You're damn right! The N8 doesn't need Snapdragon or 512 MB... moreIs not about how old the OS is, is about how efficient the OS is.

BTW, is already gonna be 2011 and people are still using windows XP.

Sails, 03 Dec 2010The main point is it isn't few faulty components or somethi... moreIf the gps was faulty from the beginning, you should have returned the the phone either for a full refund (if you not happy with the phone that is and want some other phone instead of this one again). The gps works fine on mine and a couple of other guys N8's i tried works fine too. I know it's a hassle but your phonerg gps is definitely faulty. I get a lock in a matter of seconds in offline mode and indoors too! No issues whatsoever but mind you i am advising you what you should have done as i have done the same. My first one worked perfectly. When i tested every aspect of the phone, it all just worked perfectly. The only aspect left was left to test the gps and this was on the 6th day. I took it back on the 7th day as the gps although working fine even in offline mode and indoors, began freezing and causing the phone to shutdown. I got a new one in less than a week and no hassles with returning the phone. In fact i was urged by the sp to do so. Use the replacemeot unit for like a day and found that one to be faulty but this time with just the phone itself. This time the phone was just shutting down on every occasion and eventually it reached a point were the phone didnt want to come on even though it was charged. Everything still worked but it just shutdown in the middle of something and only would come on after a few hours. I took it back the next day. Mind you i was very disappointed. I couldnt believe my luck and considering that i convinced friend to get one and he getr the good phone with no issues. I was considering some other mobile but i loved this phone. The sp took my phone and played with it and was trully amazed with it and told me that i have to try one more time. This time he'd talk to nokia. He did and i received my new phone within 2 days. My friend also also brought me back to sanity stating that after using this phone i'd never be happy with any other. He was dead right. I got the phone and behold. It is fabulous. No freezing, hanging, lagging etc whatsoever. Everything just works. Something felt different in this unit though from the other 2. It just works better from the time i put it on. Hints and tips, nokia sms's and just over-all smoothness is just better from start. I am glad i had not gone with some other phone. I to tell you the truth, after my friends talk and my sp remarks and support, i would have changed it again until i got a good unit. The last thing i want to say that nokia seem to know now about which batch is the faulty units from. My sp was confident when he handed the phone to me that this one is THE ONE. The batch number is also very close my friends. Probably from the same production day. Lastly, if anyone excepts the flaws of their mobile, then you have to live with it. Gps is not something that can always be fixed with an update. Like in your link, after knowing that the feature doesnt work, that is when you'd really miss the feature, not when you never knew about it in the 1st place. I wanted a phone that worked perfectly out of the box and i got one. Maybe 3rd time lucky but hey, thats just my bad luck. Using this unit now for 3 weeks now! Not 1 issue! Nothing! Not even 1 hint of freezing or me having to restart it. Just a piece of advice guys, test your phone properly for the 7 days. Test every feature. You not happy with the smallest feature not working, return it. I am a heavy user too so i play around with this phone alot. Anyone has any questions, feel free to ask me.

i love my n8 in black :), soooo cool, symbian 3 is probably the only symbian software that responds but i think it should have came with the iphone 3gs, then the apple fans would have had some competition from nokia, but now they don't cause ios4 is better than s^3, all the rest are like sleepy, i wud love to see more apps on it. almost as good as iphone, but sometimes doesnt respond :( you have to admit apple's touch, but still nice AMOLED touch

The OS is so old that it doesn't need it. Like Windows 98 doesn't need 4 GB of ram and dual core. And like Windows 98, the N8 is good too. I highly recommend; Windows 98 and Nokia N8!

                    Oh yeah, I forgot it's almost 2011.

[deleted post]For Symbian low processor and less RAM is enough than high hardware requirements of other operatings system.

Dont look at the processor and RAM. Look into features and performance.

Got one today & I have to say well done to Nokia superb device love it & it's quality. If people do not like Symbian then go away there is plenty people that still do. If you don't find it user friendly then that's your problem. Anyone with a brain can work out the Symbian system

They are just trying to tell themselves that the device they spent all their money on must be better than others.

Normally they should be doing that on the comments for their favorite phone, but since it won't be nearly as popular as N8 (I mean come on, N8 gets almost twice the interest than most interesting non-Nokia phone) they get lonely and come here.

We shouldn't be mean to them, everyone chooses a wrong phone every now and then ;)

I own one of these devices, don't understand everyone's beef with it. its a very high quality device, the software has been great to me, definitely not as user unfriendly as people make it seem. i also cross shopped android (galaxy s) and i prefer this to it (which is obviously why i bought it)

not as many apps as apple but thats about it.

if you guys want more details feel free to reply and leave a msg.

Part of that is fixed by updates, but even then performance is far from something like N8. How does the money back help?

Anonymous, 03 Dec 2010N8 Browser is not as good compare to Galaxy S. True. But w... moreI've used the Opera Mini browser when I used an N97. It is actually a good replacement for the N97 browser. However, compared to the stock browser on the Desire Z, the stock browser is much better than Opera Mini. I have seen the Galaxy browser and it appears to be similar to the Desire Z browser in functionality and usablilty.

Opera Mini has some useful features, but overall, the Android browser is much better. I do have Opera Mini on my Desire Z, but 95% of the time, I will use the Android browser.

The browser update for the N8 is supposed to be very good. However, it is still a few months away according to the latest reports.
