I would like to install the App Stop (re: MdN) though, if it results in the battery lasting longer between charges.

Carol, 11 Jul 2013:)). I called mine Trash before, now it's Rubble. @Stupi... moreI like "trash", so I now have a new trash folder. 3 buttons method? Don't even start explaining, puleease! That will make my eyes roll madly in their sockets! They are already rolling with the threads about hacking.

@MdM - you're right. It IS folder and as well, it is widgets, not icon :-) Seems I'll be quite occupied for a while! By the time I go through all those widgets, my trash will get fuller and my apps menu screen will look rather sparse. I'll put on the App Stop as soon as I figure out which of the 3 options to use to sign into Nokia. Sigh! I don't know why they had to make life hard. Also, I'm going to look for a decent app for news and weather.

@Stupid Me. You cannot delete pre-installed weather app only if you get an update... install it then uninstall the whole app. An update i haven't seen for years now:). There is another way to get read off all C: pre-installed apps. But i won't recommend that to anybody:). Formatting with 3 buttons method...

Stupid me, 10 Jul 2013Oh dear! You really think the N8 looks masculine???!!! Well... moreFrom a certain angle and at a certain light it does look like something from Star Wars or Star Trek, haha. But hey, there's a pink version too. :-)
You mean "move to folder" right? You can create folders in your menu (long press on an empty space) and many people make one called "Rarely Used" and put all the unneeded apps inside. I guess it's the Nokia weather widget you got with your phone so it can't be uninstalled. You can just put it in a folder where it doesn't bother you.
Maybe you should get "App Stop" from Nokia Store (it's free) and see if "weather" is still running. When you boot your phone it starts with the phone but you don't see it in the task manager, I just kill it because I'm not using it. The only real problem I ever had with the N8 was from installing some stupid weather widget that wasn't fully compatible or something.

Well, I'll have to get some sparklers and pretty junk to decorate mine! There is a weather app (green cloud and sun)on my phone that I would like to get rid of because it does not work here. When I press and hold, only "move to file" comes up. What file are they talking about? Why am I not getting an option to uninstall? I went to applications manager and got the uninstall option which I pressed. It disappeared from there BUT the icon remains on the apps menu to annoy me.

Xplore is here too, the other day I found how to delete the crash reports.
