[deleted post]Have you installed some third party software that not published by Nokia at Ovi? Usually, it is the case of the problem, not a hardware issue.

Even though galaxy n ip4 has better os i prefer n8 than th0se.

I have read that the N8 has a Gorilla Glass display, meaning it is scratch resistant. Is it still practical to put a screen guard on it just to be sure? Does the screen guard affect the tactility of the phone? I wonder if I should still put one, since it is only "scratch resistant", not "scratch proof".

Any idea about the comparison between Samsung g... morek, let me highlight to you why i chose N8 over glaxy S..
-N8 got better camera
-N8 got better battery life
-N8 got more connectivity options, TV out, HD TV out, USB on the go for flash disks/mice/keyboards
-built quality, metallic body, gorilla glass screen
-N8 got better loudspeakers(as i remember)
-i travel across 3 countries every year, and ovi maps has free life time navigation in them, and a good one.. also the maps are preloaded on the phone, i dont need to my provider anything, so free all the way :), plus, i got gmaps for the "latitude" service they have :)
-symbian^3 is better than android in everything, just how windows XP beats Windows vista... vista looks better but meh :), symbian is more customizable, more hackable, more open source
-real/true multitasking, oh let me add that i never seen that "memory full" error, and i opened many tabs in opera, played angry birds, chatting from nimbuzz, and email client was open :)
-Xenon flash!
-also, i like the side screen slider, it rules :D, and the standby clock is the smartest thing nokia came up with :), its rrly rrly rrly handy!
-gaming in the N8 is better than andriod
why would i chose galaxy,
-4inch screen is nice..
-superamoled is better than 2nd generation amoled i guess
-stock applications, like email client, UI, browser, and so on are much better coded than the nokia ones... with less hiccups, its a matter of time tho ,
-3erd party apps are cooler "looking" than symbian at the momment..

so in short, the bad stuff in the N8 can be solved by software :)
but u cant solve the camera and the battery issues in the galaxy S :),and the cheap plastic looks, and no to mention it rrly looks like an iphone ripoff, and i HATE iphone :)

just bought a nokia n8, it's really amazing,
still cam is very good.
volume is very loud...
i also tried to plug in my usb flash drive through its usb port, and it really reads my files(like excel files, .flv videos from youtube)... amazing..
i also tried to plug my mouse thru usb port and it works...
I dont have a problem with the OS, anyway as long as it's working and have all the features that i need.. good that i rejected the iphone 4 offered to me by Globe network...
i'm presently owning an iphone 3g, but i think i like the N8 more.

Did you try and play a movie in divx, avi, mvk form... morei copied tons of movie types to a usb for u to test :D
like snonre said, nearlly all work
all avi files work.. HD and SD etc, and they are nearly laggless even when i play via usb.. from the device its smooth!
MKV movies work.. but more laggy from usb, they work fine from the device
however, some anime MKV dont work.. only sound, i suspect its because of the hard codded subtitles in them :(
for example, naruto and full metal alchemists "dont" work
but deathnote work XD(but because its English dub, with no sub)
so ya, the media player needs to improve its subtitles compatibility(and im sure it will improve :), 100% :D)
remember that Nokia announced that they wont leave symbian^3 without major updates from now on, :)
the screen looks a bit small for watching, but hte aspect ratio 16:9 is perfect..i watched the whole deathnote ep on it, and enjoyed it :)

I've been telling everyone for months before this phone came out that it would be total garbage. Nokia has their employees voting up the vids and attacking people who leave negative comments here on youtube to try and get people interested in this pile of shit, but this video again proves that it's crap like I said it would be. It has the looks, but nothing else. It's time to look at other phone companies, guys.

2 days with nokia N8, i'm agree with becool, nothing problem with this device, best phone i ever had. c'mon guys, don't be doubt to buy this wonderfull device, and you will be know the most valuable gadget from nokia.

Latest update is
swype for c7 but still work on n8
baidu input for chinese and wenglish typing
next firmware update will include portrait qwerty,but it is not that well laid out, we will see
when i typing on n8, i like to turn off the touch vibration, it is annoying
