i am a proud owner of this amazing nokia n8 . I have been modding it from scratch and now it works like a charm! way to go symbian 3!
only 2 disappointments :
camera even though 12megapix.. the autofocus doesnt work well unlike my other sony ericsson camera which works way better . indoor pics would suck if one would use xenon flash.
other than that .. for the cheap price . i would recommend you to get it.
Also you would enjoy the FM transmitter function which allows you to play music from your N8 through your car's audio system.
thats all :)

I have had the N8 for about 2 weeks now and this morning the entire phone just shutdown by itself and it doesn't even response to the reboot function. Big disappointment for the N8. The Symbian 3 OS is very buggy and apps sometimes hang without any reason.

Jason, 28 Oct 2010Had the N8 for about 10 days. What I can conclude so far; ... moreThanks for that, very informative. One question though, what exactly is the problem with the photo/video browser! And i think typing should'nt be a problem because the keys are big enough on landscape mode. On portrait mode the keys will be very small, and hence a high chance that you'll make errors. What say you!

Anonymous, 28 Oct 2010nice unbias review, i wanted to get this phone but too many... moreYes the phone has a few. If you find a phone that doesn't however, let me know. I'll complain about N8's but can live with it. For what it can do, I can live with it. Until there is a new piece of technology that is essential for me to have, I will have this phone for a very good while.

Had the N8 for about 10 days. What I can conclude so far;
Symbian 3 is an improvement, none the less. Say what you want, but the OS is better than what it was before.
I'm really missing the call and end buttons. Doing a quick redail has proven a bit difficult. Hopefully, an important quick redail hasn't and won't need to happen soon until I can find a way around this.
YES! YOU CAN RECORD PHONE CONVERSATIONS! Both ends are heard and you can play back the recorded conversation while still on the phone! Last time I was able to do that was on this 2001 nokia texting phone (R.I.P.). I love this feature and is very useful.
Texting is...different, to say the least. It's still a bit frustrating, but there are a bit of improvements. it has spell checker and the layout has been updated, BUT, sadly, compared to the iphone, this thing is clumsy. On the iphone, I could type with a ridiculous amount of inaccuracy and it would still get what I was saying right. If only it was on the N8. It'll probably never be that good, but I HOPE, I HOPE, PORTRAIT QWERTY comes on the next firmware update. It's badly needed. I never tried SWPE so I'm curious to try that too, if it gets used.
Loving the email client. Nothing wrong with it at all. And satisfies my needs in email. Notifications are sent, I can respond add pics, mp3 its all good. Before, I had the OMNIA HD and I always had to be on the Opera and login to my accounts there. Not anymore. So good.
Music player is awesome. Very up to date. Only thing that doesn't make sense, at all, is why there isn't just an Artist Name section? Their Artist and Album section is alright, but I when I want to look at an Artist's album, I want to look through them in from one location! Not have them in separate folders all together. That may seem silly, but if I wanted to play all of an artists songs all at once, I wouldn't be able to. I'd have to go album to album. High hopes to that changing.
Opera likes to crash on this phone. Don't know why. The nokia standard browser is an improvement. Nothing much to say that others hasn't. It can only get better with a firmware.
glitches in the photo/video gallery for sure. Sometimes the video gallery will take a long time to exit. To the point where I think something is wrong. Photo editor could using some more polishing, implement multi touch more.
LOVING the homescreens I'm coming from a OMNIA HD and I've played around with iphones and androids. Its a good thing. Especially the google search widget
OVI maps!....hm....Coming from google maps, there's a bit of pros and cons. Free navigation, voice guidance, no more use for the internet connection is AWESOME! I do wish, however, that it could save previous searches automatically. Nothing is more a pain in the ass than repeatedly retyping the same address everytime you close out of a map location. Not too bothered by there being no multi touch.
CAMERA? PSH seriously, no contest. The best out there, of any phone. Period. End of story. Video? Ditto. Haven't had a complaint about the xeon flash but if it can be brighter and used in video mode, all the better.
One thing that bugs me, is that I set up on the settings for my phone to automatically use internet data when a program needs to do so. Yet, on Ovi maps and my geotagging feature on the camera STILL ask for me to pick an access point for internet data. hmmm...
Last, Battery. Mixed bag. Maybe because some days, it's struggling to find a signal of 3G in my area and sometimes it isn't. A few days, this thing needed charging before 7 or 8 pm.. Another day it was 10 hours and still had 100% battery! LOL. I don't but I can't wait to go to Paris and all I'll need to do is switch the SIM card.
Great phone. Too expensive, though considering nokia is putting high hopes on this device. They are just lucky my OMNIA was on it's last days and I just needed a new one. It still works if anyone wants it! Just the middle button is a bit wonky. Thanks for reading.
