I read a LOT of your post. And in every one you ta... moreYes I agree that the graphics and game play looks similar to other top end phones (but with a lower res screen) but only when it eventually loads. I am not a big gamer though so this was not my issue
Yes the browser did freeze and no it never happened on my N95 8gb either (although the N8's browser is better than the N95 when it works)
The image gallery is fast when just flicking through the pics however if you want to use the multi touch zoom then you have to wait a couple of seconds on each picture. I did not transfer any pictures onto the phone to fill the memory, I noticed this on the pics that I took from the phone.
The spec of this phone 'on paper' sounds good but it just does not deliver in reality
'Video PostProcesing: 10 seconds to process 30 mins videos.' you say? ...No way it took me 10 mins to upload a 50second video to youtube on it using broadband wifi connection
Yes this is a good camera and feature phone but the overall experince using it lets it down. Great build quality lousy and buggy UI which must be down to the processor and RAM.
I cannot tell you what phone to get but am just saying that this one is much better 'on paper' than in the hand

Anonymous, 27 Oct 2010He advised you to wait.. coz he wanted you to take it from ... morethat did cross my mind once i stepped out of the shop, however as a matter of coincidence, there is a nokia priority store just next to alfa and i went in to see the blue colored one and people who had purchased the n8 were coming back with some or the other issues. then it did make sense.
i won't mind waiting another 10 days if i have to if the issues are resolved by then.
btw i stay a bit far from alfa and i buy my fones from a shop closer to my house, however since he did not have it in stock thats y i went to alfa, and the price here is 24k.

I thought Mumbaikars were a little smarter than this..
In Bangalore it cost only 23k..

Reporting from Mumbai India.
Walked in to alfa vile parle today to buy the N8. currently out of stock. Price at alfa 24500.
He advised me to wait till 1st week of November as new stock of N8 are being shipped. The current stock in mumbai are having a huge amount of freezing and firmware issues. The new stock are coming with updated firmware resolving those issues.
FYI- People staying in or around mulund -w can get n8 for 23,500. Google mahesh telecom and contatc manish khatri.

I also now use n8 as bedside clock,if you choose clock as screen saver it stays on all the time.So i get a 1 inch digital clock in white by my bed all the time and just below the day and date..If you go to clock settings and choose analogue clock thats wat you get on front screen instead of digital..
To be honest this smartfone is getting better all the time now and still nowhere near finished exploring it or downloaded any apps yet or tested fully the camera and video.I will say it and maybe not for the last time but that switch on the side to activate/deactivate screen is genius.Just done a few fone calls to activate stuff and tonal quality is superb and breathing light is their on menu/home button which i loved on the n-series.
My package come with in ear earbuds which i will try out and report on plus hdmi adapters.The menu/help guide is built in which is new to me or not seen it before so you pick your help section and it brings up a sort of onscreen FAQ and you choose what you want and its all explained..It is really different to series 60 third edtion in its thinking but still as 5th edition overall.Thats it for now..
Oh i got mine 329.99GBP at tesco and if you buy it before 31st october you get free 20GBP top up making the n8 309GBP and its got some triple your money option which ive activated but dont understand,,in comparison my nokia 6630 in 2004 cost 399.99GBP ..

for all those who r facing problem of poor colors and resolution with n8 camera...
1.remove d protectivescreen
2.if u hv not used camera for some time than it goes into power saving mode,so press d camera key for some time before taking pics
hv a nice experience with d camera:)

guys, its not the perfect phone...has some problems, but trust me, its worth to buy... best of nokia to day

i have the n8 for 3 days, here are my first impressions
1. build quality, call quality and battery... super!
2. menus, icons look outdated
3. slower than android( i had a xperia mini)
4. browser, needs an update .fast!
5. the feeling to have it in your hands, undescribable
i am happy with my purchase, recomended to everyone...feel free to ask any questions..
