and for those ... moreOverall the Symbian^3 is very good out of the box. No major flaws or bugs, the browser is pretty much the weakest link, so either deal with it or use opera mobile. A new browser written in Qt is coming later this year.
Overall it's smooth and fast, not much waiting to be done.
I'm very happy with my purchase and wouldn't trade if for any other smartphone out there, even if you gave me 3 of em (unless I was allowed to sell em and buy 3 more N8s :D)

Those who own N8, can they inform us about the smoothness of Symbian^3? The bugs-r they happen to be in ^3 ? the battery?

1.... moreYeah, I'm aware, but the loading time comparison was pretty fair and it's not surprising.
I'm just waiting that India and other big markets get this phone, when there's enough people who actually have the phone, I don't have to come here anymore.
While I'd love to discuss and help people, it's really wearing me down to battle these Samsung/HTC/iPhone fans that just have some need to spend their whole day bashing another phone. It feels more like a job to come here and have to fight em cos they derail the whole discussion.
It's really sad, but sadly it's the nature of GSMArena and the downside of anonymity

1. N8 was not release firmware.
2. Iphone 4 doesn't have real multitasking for heavy programs ie games which are always freezing in background unlike Symbian 3 that background tasks always run and use resources such as ram, cpu and gpu. Gaming is usually very heavy process and this is the way how Apple artificially made so-called multitasking that actually it is FAKE.

And I don't mind as long as the game works fine. Then again, I don't even play games, I'm long past the age where I'd feel like playing games like those on the move.
You seem to think that unless you're best in something, you are crap in it. N8 is like a swiss army knife. Does alot of things very nicely, but doesnt really master at anything (but camera). That's why I got the phone. I don't need the best web experience that iPhone (short from flash) would probably offer me. I rather have still a very good web experience with flash, while also having very nice handy tools such as free bluetooth, USB OTG, overall freedom of the OS, FM transmitter, etc.

hi rightnow i am using blackberry curve but nokia n8 is best compare to my phone because of camera i think this is nice phone i am really old customer of nokia my first nokia mobile is 3310 which i purchase about 2002 and second mobile is nokia 3200 which i was purchase 2004 feb that time this mobile phone prise is 12699 and u know right now it is still working so i have great phone from great company thank u

Wheez, 09 Oct 2010Personally I like Symbian^3 better than N900s Maemo.I have nothing against Symbian 3. FYI, I am a symbian veteran (you know, hacking, fiddling stuff)! For us the fiddlers, N9 is a better choice IMHO. But I really like the N8 for its design and camera. I'm thus waiting for nokia to announce the N9. If it's that advanced, I might skip N8. But if the camera is just average like the N900, there is always room for a second thought!

n8: 429pounds in uk not sure in dollar
iph4 also available unlock outside US like 499pounds in uk

Hi friends i am disopted by N8
i m 2 much awaited for this Mobile so booked it. Today the nokia priorty delr called me to first look the live demo of it,
presently i am using Samsung Wave 8500 and i compaired the two models.
1) Touch sencitvty of n8 is still like the other nokia mobile.
2) i found a pre loaded video of the song "Aaj Ke raat" i copied it to my smasung wave and ply on both ... Samsung Wave a way ahead of nokia.
3) Now abouut the sound i will give 4 out of 10 to Nokia N8 and 9 out of 10 to Samsuung Wave. Its sound from the main speaker is too low.
4) Now about the Camera ... Still the disoptment i put the both cell in auto mode and take a close up of my hand . the pictures from nokia is very dull then make a video of the night trafic but i dont understand why nokia takes too much time to responce of changing light.
The other + pts of nokia is well known to every one
