velu, 05 Oct 2010@Wheez i find that N8 has the different design at the ed... moreI personally think that's only a good thing. Nokia now has a phone that can actually compete at being a trendy phone. The N8 with its materials, design and colours look REALLY good and eyecatching.

The N900 and like 5800 are all very, very good phones, but just look at them. They arn't even trying to look good. Naturally there's personal preference, but I think this is Nokias attempt to wake up that its 2010 now designwise too and they've really succeeded there.

For someone else asking, I have a blue N8 ;)

i find that N8 has the different design at the edges than any other Nokia phones.
do you have any idea why N8 is designed such that
its not curved at the edges ??

    ie N900, 5800 is curved like iPhone4.
x6 has square finish at the edges

Everything works like a thought. I was just writing a university essay on my netbook and realized i needed the internet. I just connected my phone to the netbook for the first time and selected use as modem from the phone. It quickly installed the necessary software from the phone and took existing settings from the phone and everything worked like a dream. All this while on the train

I played with it for 15mins in Bangalore.

Camera is awesome and touch sensitivity is comparable to iPhones.
Media player interface is almost similar to iTunes ;).

                  I already pre-ordered.
But only thing that i worry slightly is that its appearance.
No curvy finishing at the edges unlike other Nokia phones.
But the dealer told me that its specifically designed so that people can hold it better.

Joe, 05 Oct 2010Ohh really dats cool, then wheez please put a brief summary... moreIt has been available from Nokia (for preorderers and new customers) since last thursday and I've been posting my feelings here ever sicne that thursday.

I've been extremely satisfied and I don't really have any negative things to say about this device. Just about the only negative thing I can come up with is the speaker positioning, which is in the camera "bulge", meaning that if its on the table screen up, it will partially mute the sound. Apart from that, the photo/video editor and OVI store work abit slowly compared to the rest of the device, bad optimization or something. However all 3 get the job done just perfectly. Other than those the phone is very swift and theres not much waiting to be done.

I wouldn't change my N8 for any other smartphone currently out there, even if you gave me 3 of them.

If you want to see the camera quality, search for "veijojarvi" here in the GSMArenas N8s pages comment search and you'll find some pics taken by me. I'm a crappy photographer and all the settings are on default, so someone else can certainly take better pics, but those are pretty good seeing all that

680 Mhz CPU wouldnt suffice, they'd have to add it up to 1ghz that would eat the battery to such extents that they couldnt physically and/or battery lifes sake be able to run the current GPU. Also Android can't use the GPU to render UI at the moment so it would probably just be replaced with a crap integrated GPU. Then, just by changing to Android we would probably sacrifice 40% of the battery life, just cos we changed the OS. In return we would get some eyecandy and overall a good OS, but such that still has problems that need ironing out, moreso than the Symbian^3. It's getting better with each new version of Android, but theres still lots of work to be done to be where Symbian is.

Currently Android most likely can't support stuff like USB OTG, so that would have to be programmed in, which probably wont be made until the next bigger version (and 2.2 isnt even widely available really yet)

So no, it would not be better with Android. Iäm absolutely loving the Symbian^3, it's very good. It's not that pretty, but its good.
