Hi Wheez,

I’ve been following your informative posts for quite a while now and I really appreciate your patience and efforts!

Can you please verify whether the N8 has a native SIP client (stack) built-in? If it supports VoIP natively you should be able to modify settings under “Settings” and then “admin. Settings” (well at least that was the way it was down with previous Nokia phones that supported VoIP).

Thanks and best regards,

Marvin

Wheez, 05 Oct 2010Well yeah, the N8 has nowhere near the amounts of transitio... morei agree ... i have the famous n82...since 2 n half years and it never ever disappointed me...i have waited for the perfect upgrade till now..coz all the phones that came up ill now missed one feature or the other..like xenon flash or carl zeiss lens or processor speed etc...however i need the perfect camera phone upgrade...so i guess theres no other choice than n8..and plz leave htc or samsung as the term camera can only be related to nokia...

the point is are there going to be any other new phones from nokia with respect to camera? if so then i will continue with n82..otherwise i have to get the n8..

also maybe since am using iphone for the past 1 year, maybe thats why i am feeling n8 to be slow...cant really decide..maybe i need to test the n8 again more patiently

phones fan, 05 Oct 2010after checking the latest n8 video on youtube ,i can tell t... moreThis is where different values come in. Techradar did not even mention USB OnTheGo. A feature that alone earns 5 stars, a feature is now so necessary for me that I wouldn't even consider buying a device without it.

Techradar has been criticized cos it was a very biased review. They were solely reviewing it iPhone in mind. Instead of giving it a fair chance and reviewing the device as it is, they compared everything to the iPhone.

Also, the guy was very clueless as techradar. He said this "We know that people will say that there's a desire for such organisation, but it should be more like the iPhone: choosing to make folders than having to wade through clicks and swipes just to find where the email client is"

Really? All it takes me to get to the email client is to unlock the phone and I see two first messages status there. One tap on the widget and I got the whole client open. Not quite as he described.

Also, read what GSMArena thinks of these biased unfair reviews (Techradar, CNET, Gizmodo, Engadget, Mobile-review comes to mind):

satan, 05 Oct 2010hey wheez.... its nice to know that that irritating vibr... moreWell yeah, the N8 has nowhere near the amounts of transition effects than the iPhone. That's one of the reasons it feels so smooth and fast cos you don't feel like waiting so long when you see stuff happening.

I'd personally turn them off even if the N8 had them, just a waste of battery for me.

As for adding widgets being harder. Abit depending on what you are adding, but if you call one press & hold and 2 taps hard, then I don't know if Symbian phones will ever be suitable for you :D

Symbian certainly is abit "harder" to use than the others, but there's a reason for that. It also has like double the features and functionality at this point. It doesn't get more simple to do stuff than it is on iPhone at the moment, but you also have to realize that it also has several times less features to offer as well.

Either way, your points are valid and that is why I've often suggested other phones than the N8 to people asking here, like for you example, the iPhone may be more suitable for you. They are good at different things, the N8s biggest strength is not in smooth transactions and easyness of use.

But the easy usability too depends. I havn't had any other Symbian touch screen phones, I havn't opened the manual yet, but I've found everything I've wanted to very easily and from logical places so far. I don't really even understand how could it be any more simple without sacrificing the ability to let the user decide anything.

Wheez, 05 Oct 2010It's definitely worth every cent. I've heard some questiona... moreafter checking the latest n8 video on youtube ,i can tell that the phone is worth 3.5 stars but no more, and might reach 3 stars if gsmarena review matched with techradar review.

may be because i like the faster and more eye candy performance of andriod,iOS,and bada

but for nokia only users and camera lovers the phone is worth 4.5 stars

Wheez, 05 Oct 2010Thought I'll comment on some of these things u mentioned: ... morehey wheez....

its nice to know that that irritating vibration can be offed...

the homescreens are a bit slow..and i have closed all the applications while i was using teh phone

in the gallery when viewing a picture, the pinch zoom is not the same as in the iphone :( am actually disappointed with that...

also there was a lag here and there and i repeat that all the applications were closed and i was just the 2nd customer to see the phone and operate it

i dont mean to be rude but its not the same as the easy transition effects of the iphone ... theres some type of slowness or the feeling that the phone is lagging while operating it...plz dont get me wrong but i have been waiting for half year to buy this....

even adding new widgets is a slow process while comparing to htc or samsung....

the only factors i liked were the camera and video recording...and yes also the music

It plays those video formats natively.

There is no LED flash, it's Xenon ;) I've taken a few shots with the flash and don't have anything like that to complain about, at least.

satan, 05 Oct 2010bookings have started in nokia hyderabad...i have played wi... moreThought I'll comment on some of these things u mentioned:

1)the 3 home screens dont mov along with our finger..after swiping on the screen,it takes about a second or two to respond..(its built that way)

Second or two is abit exaggeration, but as you said, it's not about the phone being slow, it's designed that way, probably to avoid moving the screen cos some widgets use sideway scrolling. If you don't want to wait, tapping the home screen change button is easier and faster then swiping anyways.

2)the vibration for each touch is irritating

I love having the feedback, this can be turned off though, it has 4 levels. Level 1-3 (meaning less vibration-more vibration) and then completely off.

3)phone is laggy some some times

I havn't really experienced this apart from very hectic usage that isn't normal anyways. Any phone can be made lagging with hectic enough usestyle. Could also be cos its a public test phone and there was all kinds of shit already done on the phone etc.

                          4)only 3x zoom

It's digital zoom anyway, it's not worth using anyway. It's pretty much better to take nonzoomed picture and then zoom into it using a computer. The effect is exactly the same.

5)multi touch is a little slow...not the same as iphone...

I've found the pinch to zoom to work perfectly when you hold the phone in your hand, having it on the table for example will cause grounding issues (been told that happens with every phone if not held, though). If you mean different kind of multitouching then yea, I too can press buttons faster/simultaneously and the phone can't register them all, but it keeps up easily with typing, etc :)

nadia , 05 Oct 2010 hello wheeze n8 is worth to buy or not? my current phon... moreIt's definitely worth every cent. I've heard some questionable stuff about the N8, but from what you're saying, I think the N8 would fit you very well. The phone is also "old enough" to be worth the change already. Like if you had some week old Galaxy S it might not be clever :D

If we're giving 5 stars, I'd give 4½ stars for the sake of nothing is perfect ;) And many people agree with me: http://hintaseuranta.fi/tuote.aspx/424577?tabi=arvostelut

You won't understand what they say but u'll see the stars. Those few people who gave like half a star have obviously never used the device cos they are complaining about small CPU and RAM, which don't give you any real problems while actually using the phone. So they are just useless spec huggers. Also, "Suosittelen" means "recommended".

There was still 50 "reviews" yesterday on that site, wonder where the heck did 30 of them disappear.

Either way, so far people have been very happy about this device :)
