phones are not for showing off, buy the one that suits u best, if you dont use much of the stuff in smartphones, just buy a feature phone....

i had this thing for over 2 years now, i gave it to ma aunt and she lost it, and u have no idea how sad that makes me every time i remember this epic gem :(

If you look for a Nokia because it offers free sat nav, try finding "Laan van Meerdervoord", "Hilton Hotel Luxembourg" , "Jean Engling":) on the free Ovi maps. Ovi maps is a farce. It does not find the first two places, and the third is listed on the map as JOHN ! Engling. I would like to dedicate to Nokia the song of Lily Allen, ...... , very very muuch!
Thank God Sony-Ericsson and Samsung dropped Symbian.

Arnab, 01 Oct 2010Oh please why dont u check out the comparison and then talk... more"We live in an era where we communicate by apps"?

Hmmm, I actually talk to people, occasionally phone or text them. For Facebook, checking it out once a day on my computer is enough, I'm not a stalker. And actually I'm one of those people who make the content that you read on the internet and the last thing I want to carry with me is more internet. But having a good camera to take photos of what's happening in my REAL LIFE is important. The rest (apps and stuff) is fun to have around, but not a deal breaker. I have better things to do.

The desire HD from HTC is being released at about the same time as the N8 (at least in my country)- even though annouced a lot later!! Now it might not have the camera, nor the battery lifetime nor the USB OTG and might be a bit more expensive, I still believe that it would be a wiser choice depending on your needs...

But I recommand you guys check it out before you regret buying the N8... Just an advice...

With symbian anything is possible. Back in 2002 I programmed for the 7650. Even back then we all knew symbian is a winner. We just did not know it will be such a hit. I shall get my N8 in a week time. And who knows, I might get back into symbian programming.

                          Hi all

Today morning I got my N8 on my hands. It came by DHL recorded delivery. It's fast and super screen quality is very nice.
Any one don't need to vary about screen resolution.
It's auto open and auto close screen cap is amazing. I couldn't believe my eyes.

I hope this will go 4m in very short time.

I wish you all enjoy your N8 in you hand.

                          Good luck.

Oh please why dont u check out the comparison and then talk about it!

                            http://www.gsmarena.com/compare.php3?idPhone1=3252&idPhone2=3275

The N8 is comparable to iPhone 3GS. Not even nearly remotely close to iPhone phone in terms of performance. Check out Techradar's review of N8. We live in an era where we communicate by apps, Ovi Store has none! Okay, maybe 1, or 2, or 10 good ones. Thats it. I still cant understand why Symbian-ites dont have an official twitter app! Or a tennis updates app! Like IBM Seer for Android and iPhone (the name's different for the iPhone).

Ovi needs to develop and it will take at least a couple of years to do so. By which time, apps will have become redundant and we would be looking at real like cloud computing straight from the mobile. Nokia needs to grow up and embrace android. There's no shame in admitting that its a more developed OS for touchscreens right now.

The N8 has a great camera and it has great connectivity. But thats about it. If u plan to check your twitter updates and facebook notifications once in a while (wait! the Facebook for Symbian app doesnt even support notifications! Damn!) and browse the odd web page while making that coffee, N8 is the perfect device.

If however you plan to do more, browsing a plethora of apps for comics to word processors, then stick to android or iphone.

The only users who will like this device are ardent Nokia fans, or people who wont be getting android or iphones in the near future because of various reasons.

Am I a Nokia user? Yes, been one for many years now. My final and worst buy ever was the N97 Mini. Nokia, please change. You are already losing marketshare, dont let it slide any further.

kane, 01 Oct 2010I'm trying to force you to like anything. I'm already using... moreIf it is a new ui you want then wait for it. It will be coming next year. It is ready but there is a reason for holding back on it. Simply put, with change there can be consequences. It can be a positive or negative one. The bulk of the users of nokias are happy with their phones. Nokia have realised that they have made a mess up by holding back with the launch of a newer, fresher os. They are not denying that either. They are trying to make ammends for that as you can see with the changes happening within the company.

The other aspect is that nokia being a large company would know that change cannot be bought. You would have to create the buy in from the people first. Now that wont be easy as alot of people that do purchase nokias reside in emerging countries. Change hence wouldn't be easy here most definetly. The changes would have to be small step changes (kaizen). The ui in symbian ^3 is huge. You just cant see it!! This is what strategy they are using. Getting people to accept the change to a vastly popular os without knowing and everything looks pretty familiar for those that have used symbian before. It is just that now they have some new additional features and then the step up to ^4 next year.

I think Nokia have also learnt from other huge companies ill decision and hence would not turn on the people that made then so great and bite the hand that feeds them. Nokia users would now feel comfortable that the changes coming would be easier to accept in future as this new os would hence be familiar to them, the older version forgotten and now the new step change would hence bridge that gap too wrt the other os's.

The new os is good, go take a look at some of the videos on the net, but then again you have been already using the new phone. If it is change you want then either wait for the newer version next year, meego or better yet, buy an android. Just make sure that it runs froyo though. The other older versions with the update have the slight improvements that enhance battery performance. Still no were close to the N8 though. As i said, Nokia have learnt from others mistakes too. They will get better. I will take that walk with them.

Great things come to those that wait. Can you?

Ovi Store continues to grow – now hitting 2.3 million downloads per day (and that’s without S^3 handsets yet)

sorry for my typing (I'm not a fanboy for no one), I'm typing a prototype that company is testing out (but still buggy) for sony. And I have to say, that the psp might just be obsolete. N8 is a great phone, but what other companies have coming out are "game" changers. nokia makes that best hardware but hardware will only only get you so far.

@kane Don't fool yourself, the 5800 is a great device ! If you hate Nokia so frieking much why do you come and post in here? Let me tell you why: because you envy the N8 :-) I have the Samsung Galaxy, the best android there is, yet I find myself using the old 5800 day after day. Why? Because it last a lot longer on a charge and has decent multi tasking which android suffers with. The N8 will be my next device. Never bothered with the restrictive iPHONE.
