The Meego platform is also based on QT. The Symbian ^4 version would......be...QT. Errr....works across all platforms nicely. Easily changeable if they need to as QT is soooo much easier to work with.
There is a competition going on in the US that Nokia are running for developers of QT based apps. They don't say for which OS but that is because the software would work on both....including Symbian ^4.

Google Symbian 4 , its realising early next year. And then Nokia as usual will forget Symbian 3 users to earn from Symbian 4. And N8's ancient CPU wont run Symbian 4 !!

If you consider S60 v5 as Vista, then they have improved things a "little" bit and renamed "Improved version of s60 v5 as Symbian 3".
What can i expect from Symbian 3?
Expect S60 v5 OS in its tweak and littlebit speedier form.

So i better wait for Symbian 4 phone which will be in production for next 2-3years. Shortage of good apps might affect Symbian 3 as its shelf life will be only 6-7 months.

Why pay such a high amount for N8 with Symbian^3 when Symbian^4 which is built from scratch is releasing by April 2011. Investing in Symbian^3 device with life of few months is waste of money. Better invest in Symbian^4 device as Symbian^5 has not even in Alpha stage. And Symbian has confirmed N8 cant be upgraded to Symbian^4 as CPU is weak in N8.

I want n8 so bad, i live in malaysia, i know that sysmbian is not that ggod os, but i dont care. i just want a phone with simple usage and no compication sh2t. i just want to have fun with my hone. thats all.

So I no, we, the owners, will have 3 INDEPENDANT magazines tell me no, us, what we already know. its gonna score high, very high now who you gonna believe.

hello. N8 I saw but do not understand why this is and narrow symbian. only three screens, why not 5? And if you can add on screen, all kinds of windows, why has not anyone thought that maybe we want it smaller and some larger ones, like Motorola, MOTOBLUR. I understand that is a new revolution but seems to urnesc hard guys. I have great respect for Nokia (I have an E50 - great phone), but expect more. anyway congratulations for the new models, and waiting for more news in 2011, I know they will come.
