Sort of sadly though, I might've been amongst the first preorderers in the whole world to get their N8, cos I preordered it the same day it became available in Finland. Later on though I cancelled my preorder (14.9.2010) to reserve it from the flagship store cos the preorder wouldve come with home delivery at times I wouldve never been home while my school is 100m away from the flagship store, so with bad luck, I just put myself into the back of the queue and with bad luck it may make the difference of getting it next week or end of october :/

Dwane, 26 Sep 2010This phone and its delays are costing me so much mental pai... moreThanks for copy pasting the full email, I've been asking around whether any finnish customers would've recieved the same message, but at least this far no one has said such thing.
I wonder whether it's actually about tweaking it abit more or simply not having the capability to supply enough to meet the demand.
At least for Finland the latest official word is still that first preorderers should be getting it probably next week (would also be a positive thing for Nokia cos then they wouldn't have missed the Q3 delivery they originally promised). I'll naturally keep this place up to date to which I can (I know so much more as I still part time work at the factory but the NDA limits what I can tell here or anywhere else).
I hope you and the others stay strong, cos you certainly havn't been waiting this long in vain.

I pre-ordered my N8 on 16th Sept. And I got this email on 24th Sept. from Nokia.

The N97 was not slow due to having old standards, but simply insufficient resources to run the phone. They for some reason left out graphics acceleration as well as it had too little RAM after boot up combined with most stuff going on C:/ that had very little free space causing problems.
N8 has 1) faster CPU than the N97 2) A dedicated GPU 3) More optimized OS for touch screen devices 4) Better touch screen by miles 5) 3-4 times the free RAM after bootup
The benchmarks also show that the CPU + GPU combination of the N8 is very even with devices "that meet todays standards" according to you. Naturally having more emphasis on graphics related stuff and little less emphasis on pure CPU requiring stuff.

N8 has 12mp camera with xenon flash + face &smile detection + fm transmitter + card slot + cable for usb on the go + cable for HDMI + DivX player + less weight + anodized aluminium casing.
BUT E7 has QWERTY keyboard + 4 " display.
please advise me which one is better for buy.now i have N97.it is good but slow.please advise me...

The n8 has been available in the uk since 23 september! So stop tell lies kids, apps and game are also available to buy right now :-) but symbian^4 is out next year, so goodbye nokia, hello android :-)

In reply to all those saying this will still ship end of september , you are mistaken , i was one of the first to pre order and have been emailed by nokia to say i quote "For your maximum enjoyment of the N8, we had to move the delivery by a few weeks." that is fact not hearsay

There 2 main things I don't like about N8:
1. I understand that the N8's batt is non-removable type. The standby time specs indicate that it would be very difficult to make it last for 2 FULL days of moderate usage.
2. The call records have a lifetime of just 30 days. If the records get deleted after 30days even if there is space in the memory, then its bad :( I know this is very trivial. But, I use the call records as a temporary place to store some un-important numbers for a short duration.
