Wheez, 23 Sep 2010Well, that's not exactly true. You can have multiple things... moreThat what I meant, no real multitasking on iphone and if there's frozen tasks it won't be any better than other phones as other solutions can do better in that regard.

[deleted post]"I've used XT720 which has 720MHz with latest sw and still slow in performance."

Blame it on inefficient heavyweight OS.

Peter, 23 Sep 2010Remember, you can't Multitask on iphone.Well, that's not exactly true. You can have multiple things open at once but it's not true multitasking when compared to Nokias for example. The different however isn't that big.

iPhone only has a handful of applications it actually allows to RUN on the background, for example the music player. Most applications it freezes, so if for example you were playing a game and then multitask away, the game would freeze, however on the N8 the game would keep running (and also take more resources).

Many of the things you'll end up multitasking on the N8 wont actually be running on the background either, like say the browser (unless theres flash), writing SMS, the maps (unless you keep moving also and thus it actually needs to do something too), etc.

So while the difference isn't huge in reality, but it's still yet another restriction that might backlash back at you some day, I rather have real multitasking anyways than have it the iPhone 4 way, but the difference really isn't big.

Anonymous, 23 Sep 2010I just checked the glbenchmark website and did the comparis... moreIt says that there's 3 pretty even devices with strenghts in slightly different areas, the xperia falls short in quite abit too many compared to the others, though. It's not about the ability to win benchmarks either. At least around here the Galaxy S is more expensive than the N8. It's not that Nokia wouldnt be able to put in super monster specs, but especially still these days, it's off especially from battery life. Nokia usually makes balanced devices and the N8 is no different. Competetive specs for a good price with more features than the others.

Some of you are getting this all wrong, you think I'm trying to prove the N8 is the best, I don't. It's the best option for me but what is best for who depends on the person. I'm trying to show that against common misconception, the N8 isnt "omg so slow only 680mhz" cos of the GPU. Sure, you can see that it does worse in some aspects due to the lower CPU, but on the contrary it's stronger in others. Personally I don't care about benchmarks, I'm buying the N8 for it's features and looks I can't get from other phones out there.

But I don't know what you are trying to prove here anyway. This is the N8 site, if we wanna discuss the iPhone 4, we'd head to the iPhone 4 page.

It's a great device, nobody with brains denies that. It just offers very little to nothing for me. I'm buying the N8 for it's features, most of which the iPhone lacks. I personally think the iPhone is pretty ugly which is already one reason I won't even consider it.

It's perfectly ok to like a phone, but you don't have to come here to yell it, we don't really care around here. As said, if we wanna discuss the iPhone 4, we'll come to the iPhone 4 page.

N8 will be epic fail when every high end phone are 1Ghz 512 ram and mid ranges are 680MHz and 256ram. Nokia charge high end price for mid range phone with just because of 12mp camera

I have seen original demo N8 in Soundtech in Cyprus. Come on Nokia, start shipping, please. The amazing is that they have in stock various original accessories. Once the N8 start selling, all those colorful original cases will be selling like hot potatoes.

It's a shame cos it looks pretty nice and all, but personally I'm not that sad about it, I understood CBD works better sunlight, but other than that I'm personally very happy with the current AMOLED too.

Apple (and pretty much every other manufacturer) is just free riding on the research and development Nokia has done during the last 40 years or so.

Also, Nokia had real videocalling like 5 years ago, iPhone got it like what, this year and it requires wifi to work, unlike Nokias videocalling 5 years ago that worked on normal telephone connections? I dunno about the software, but Nokia has done the whole videocalling thing before and better.

iPhone can actually use it's GPU to rendering the UI though, Android cant, so thumbs up for iPhone on that :D Or more like thumbs down for Android on that, it seems like an obvious feature.
