hayato, 16 Sep 2010So, when n8's GPU and CPU worked together, they can be as g... moreThe nokia n96 had good video and audio playback times cause it used dedicated proccessors to achieve this and not using main proccessor..The n8 will use an audio chip to get 50hrs playback not the 680MHz main proccessor,,hence why do these people need 1GHz..They will say for gaming or hd video,UNTRUE,in these circumstances a dedicated GPU will out perform AFAST PROCEESSOR IN MOST INSTANCES PLUS IF THE SOFTWARE DOES NOT CALL ON THE gpu IT WILL NOT KNOW TO USE IT.

Samsung u600 had 84 MHZ proccessor which could video record @15fps at cif resolution OR 30fps@qvga resolution so again why would you need 1 GHz except to flatten your battery???

the N8 has all the powers to be fluent fast and snappy... It's the programming for it that requires a lot of effort. Off course you can always do some lousy programming and put in a 5GHz processor to make it fast enough but where will this end??

What happen to the rating? Hopefully this will be the the new No.1 in rating on this website soon.

Samsung Wave have accelerated its rating at this stage, coming or just released.

              @Wheez

You know I'm gonna get this phone and love it but I would like to hear you thoughts on a few points.

This is a great phone with great features, but how many of the features will the average user actually use? Will you carry a cable with you to make use of the USB OTG or HDMI out? Do you need a 12mp camera over a 5mp -the average user who just looks at the pictures on the phone (won't that make sending pics vis mms harder as file will be too big?), Bluetooth 3 is only faster when connected to another bluetooth 3 device. FM transmitter, sat nav and obviously the good build quality I can see most people using regularly tho.

The longer I have to wait for this phone the more time I have to pick at it to make sure it stands up to the high credit I have given this phone

The Nokia N8, Nokia’s latest smartphone, intuitively connects to the people, places and services that matter most. With the Nokia N8, people can create compelling content, connect to their favorite social networks and enjoy on-demand Web TV programs and Ovi Store apps. Available in select markets during the third quarter of 2010, the estimated retail price of the Nokia N8 is EUR 370, before applicable taxes or subsidies.

The Nokia N8 introduces a 12 megapixel camera with Carl Zeiss optics, Xenon flash and a large sensor that rivals those found in compact digital cameras. Additionally, the Nokia N8 offers the ability to make HD-quality videos and edit them with an intuitive built-in editing suite. Doubling as a portable entertainment center, people can enjoy HD-quality video with Dolby Digital Plus surround sound by plugging into their home theatre system. The Nokia N8 enables access to Web TV services that deliver programs, news and entertainment from channels like CNN, E! Entertainment, Paramount and National Geographic. Additional local Web TV content is also available from the Ovi Store.

Social networking is second nature to the Nokia N8. People can update their status, share location and photos, and view live feeds from Facebook and Twitter in a single app directly on the home screen. Calendar events from social networks can also be transferred to the device calendar.

The Nokia N8 comes with free global Ovi Maps walk and drive navigation, guiding people to places and points of interest in more than 70 countries worldwide.

                    Symbian^3 in action
Powering the Nokia N8 is Symbian ^3, the latest edition of the world’s most used smartphone software, which introduces several major advances, including support for gestures such as multi touch, flick scrolling and pinch-zoom. The Nokia N8 also offers multiple, personalizable homescreens which can be loaded with apps and widgets. The new 2D and 3D graphics architecture in the platform takes full advantage of the Nokia N8′s hardware acceleration to deliver a faster and more responsive user interface. Symbian^3 also raises the bar in performance by delivering greater memory management allowing more applications to run in parallel for a faster multi-tasking experience.

                    Getting Qt for Developers
The Nokia N8 is Nokia’s first device to be integrated with Qt, a software development environment that simplifies the development and makes it possible to build applications once and deploy across Symbian and other software platforms. Nokia has also made the powerful and simple to use Nokia Qt SDK available, in its initial beta, to enable developers to start realizing the potential of Qt.

So, when n8's GPU and CPU worked together, they can be as good as a 1ghz processor.

But at times when graphics is not needed, the n8 will only perform reflecting it's clock speed.

What's the difference? If 1ghz phones use all of it's resources in graphics and computing. Does a phone really needs high 1ghz clockspeed to load alone? Isn't 680mhz not enough?

I already sayed, it depends what you do with the phone, and what it uses.

It might and might not just like wheez sayed and me

with OS it makes things go smoothly

If you need to do things which need loading, you dont do anything with the gpu there, its all about processor and memory, you can clearly see it if you do something with n8 like saving pics/saving edited video, loading times in games and things like that. what needs raw power
