I used Nokia for over 15 years and after buying phones which had quality & Performance problem mainly with N Series but had better lock with E series even though my E66 had battery problem. Problems started with N76, and N85 , N96 , and then 5800. Kept each phone for less than one month.

Now can see how much all Nokia smart phones are so out dated. can list many things. Nokia does not even come close to such phones like HTC Desire, Samsung Galaxy S, iPhone 4, Blackberry and so on. Nokia OS is totally outdated regardless of any update.

Nokia OVI Application store behind and slow. you should care your money and not name Nokia. Nokia no care why would I care.

Nokia said goodbye to their CEO and looking to hire CEO from Apple. Good Luck.

Wave, 01 Aug 2010N8 Looks outdated when you compare it with Wave. Wave has a... morethe wave looks like a cheap piece of sammy crap, even though the specs are ok. I dont trust samsung, they have no support, the are no firmware updates and there are no apps for this new (but not advanced) os. crap.

N8 is a much better device.

kanagu, 01 Aug 2010to mk,nokia means hanging.just think past old n series mode... morealthough Baba o/s is fairly new and is a unexperienced compare to windows mobile are android o/s. The market/ app store, what ever you would like to call has not got a wide range off applications and updated user interface. Although it has strong potential due to its ARM cortex x8 hitting speeds of Ghz

no, the nokia n8 might be slower in terms of processing speeds compare to the iphone 4. although it makes up for it's surely outdated speed by having an enhanced 3D graphic accelerator. Another point that you should take into consideration before criticizing nokia. Is that they have bases in north america as well as in china.

Nokia should make a new version of n8, 1gz processor, 512 ram, graphics card, and super amoled multi touch display with motion based game support, a qwerty keypad and a nice 12mp cam with xenon flash and dual led light for video!!! And of course in a reasonable price. Lol

to mk,nokia means hanging.just think past old n series models, 5 minutes for opening gallery, hanging after photography, average music, cannot play high qlty mp4 videos,so nokia is still in 2008.u just see the performance of the wave and than speak.i am also die-hard fan of nokia from 2002 to 2008,but not now because of samsung wave.i promise nokia ends with n95 and samsung begins with bada wave.just wait for one year man.

[deleted post]What is your point exactly? Pre production software that tells you you are using too much ram? Is that a surprise to you? Did you not see the same thing happen to the new milestone, running Android, using 512 Mb of RAM?

Point is, S^3 with ram paging will get more out of 256 of RAM than ANY other OS will get from 512.

Don't lose any sleep over it, the N8 flies.

Every now and then my company gives me a new phone. When they gave me the iphone I gave it to my daughter after 2 days and got myself an N95 8gb. The iphone was just too slippery to hold (and I don't like cases)and I just could not figure out how to store a word document on the phone.
When they gave me the HTC Hero I used it for a week and then gave it to my daughter and got myself an N97. I loved the look and smooth operation of the android interface but it wasn't as userfriendly as the nokia and the camera was rubbish.
I don't multitask or use my phone for gaming so the N97 works ok for me but it is laggy and the loudspeaker function during calls is terrible. I am looking at the N8 now as it seems to have most of what I want in a smartphone.
Ovi maps is a must because I use the free voice navigation when I travel overseas and it does not require an internet access like google maps.
I tend to do short video clips rather than take photos and the HD capability of the N8 looks very promising (most other phones can't campare in this regard). The video editor featured in the N8 will obviously be very usefull to me because of this.
I don't normally use my phones for watching movies but I see on the specs that the N8 supports Xvid playback. I back up my movies to HDD using AutoGK in Xvid format so to look at a movie on the N8 (like if I'm standing in line somewhere) it will simply be a copy and paste job. Cool!!!
One thing I use my phone for a lot is to read ebooks. I use Mobireader on my N97 and it works very well. I don,t know how well ebook readers work on other brands but on Nokia I have no problems. I have read that the N8 is backwards compatible so I should be able to install Mobireader on it. I know that I will not be able to use it fullscreen because of the lack of a * button but this is not a problem for me.
Skype is also very important to me and Nokia and Skype seem to work well together.
I know that Symbian is not the most "eyecandied" of OS's but it appeals to me because of its functionality. Once a phone does what I want it to do I don't need any bells and whistles to go along with it. However to be fair to everyone a pleasing to the eye GUI will never hurt a phone company's chance of selling a phone.
All in all I look forward to the release of the N8 but I will not buy it until it has been thoroughly reviewed because of my experience with the N97.
