people who think nokia n8's processor is bad, well its not. it really is a great phone, it responds really quickly and symbiam have finally put up something worth buying.usually u will have to symbiam supported phones responding slow etc. but symbiam 3 is great i cant wait to check out the symbiam 4. Plus its auto-rotate sensor is so improved and the reaction time rreally is quick.

nokia has finally put up something worth the wait!
i think apple have been defeated this time by the nokia n8!!!!!!!!!

Niraj, 24 Jul 2010Hi Nuwan brother..! Great to see you too want N8 ;) this... moreDear brother Niraj,

It's good to see you too brother... I'm still using my same old beloved 5530... (Are you...?) I Didn't want to change it after I saw this wonderful N8... I wish the Music quality test results for N8 will be competitive with those of Apple i-phone..

Apple i-phone is a good looking but less featured phone but it always delivered high quality Music whether Nokie lovers (like me) would like to accept or not.. I never felt jealous about i-phone's look or it's sophisticated transition effects... But I always felt jealous about it's music...! Though the Music in 5530 was absolutely great still GSMarena test results showed the i-phone's results were superior...

This time dear Nokia... We all want N8 to be superior than i-phone 4G... (Feature wise it already is superior...!) But we want it to be superior Music Quality wise too...!

                    Dear friends,

I'm also in the waiting list of Nokia N8 and already have fallen in love with it after watching introduction videos and specifications... I always loved Symbian OS... (Specially S60 V5) so I will definitely love this new Symbian 3 OS and I hope there will be enough software applications for our needs when N8 releases to the market..

I wish to see Symbian 3 with following improvements...

                    1) More sophisticated transition effects
                    2) Highly efficient memory management
                    3) Disabled certificate check
                    4) Page file (virtual memory) support
                    5) Smileys in SMS (I know it's silly but it's a ridiculous mistake you can see in previous Symbian S60 versions...!)
                    6) Kinetic scrolling in SMS (Threaded view would have been better)
                    7) More customizations for advanced users

I don't know whether I'll be gifted above things with Nokia N8... I just hope they would be included...!

Hardware wise, I would have been happy if I see followings.

                    1) 512 MB RAM
                    2) at least 1 GB ROM
                    3) at least 1 GHz processor
                    4) Thinner design (say about 10 mm)
                    5) High capacity battery (at least 1500 mAh)

However as Symbian OS is optimized for low hardware profile, above 1, 2 & 3 will not be a big deal... and 4 and 5 matters have problems with each other...! (When we want a higher capacity battery that obviously increases the thickness of the mobile...)

However with so many features and a new look.. with a award wining OS... I think N8 will be a revolution for the mobile phone market... More than anything... It's from our trusted NOKIA...! So we will not regret for a moment... (I have been using Nokia since few years and I'm indeed a hard user... I always install so many applications and take the maximum work out put from the mobile up to its limits...! So I know Nokia is doing greatly...)

the N8 dosnt have a 680 processor only

                      it has TWO

the strong one, process the graphics, which in short, nearly all the heavy stuff mobile does, and that processor defeats nearly all others at the current market, when it comes to producing triangles :P

the second processor does the rest of the lame stuff, like 4*4=16, which an old calculate can do.. and 680mhz is more than enough(i know i over simplified, but lets face it, apart from audio processing, there aint much work left :P, )

add to that its a symbian OS, which aint resource hungry

so now it boils down to how Nokia optimizes the hardware with the software, which aint that easy, and i feel they can alwayz do a better job at it(they usually rush that phase in other mobs), and depending on that and only that, we will see how smooth the N8 can be,

i know there is RAM paging etc, but i rrly hoped they used 512rams, just to make everyone happy and end the argument, i find it stupid to be cheap when it comes to ram, and that is the main reason they failed with many devices(especially N97)..

                          N8 rocks beacause of:

                          -hdmi port
                          -dolby digital
                          -16gb memory
                          -12 mp with xenon flash
                          -720p HD vid recording
                          -symbian 3

Symbian dont need 1ghz! Motorola, samsung and thc are afraid of putting arm 11 like 434 mhz and 600 mhz because android os will not really carry it. 5800 works fine with ARM 11 434 MHZ. so this has 680 mhz and equippped with the powerful broadcom gpu!

                            ill still buy n8!

N8's ARM 11 680 MHZ is not alone. ive been posting this comment a long time ago. It is equipped with Broadcom GPU which even beat i9000 galaxy s arm a8 1ghz in producing more triangles!

Anonymous, 22 Jul 2010What do you mean "pretend to handle 12mp"? There... moreIMO, voting before a phone is released is simply misleading.

I have known this site looking for specs, reviews, users opinions and experiences. I wouldn't be too
happy to have bought a crap phone on its release on day one after seeing it got a 9 / 9 / 9 thanks to 70000 dreamers/thinkers/youtube viewers (maybe there are 1500 real beta testers) without knowing all of that, ever thought about that ?

There are really some nice comments here pointing out all kind of stuff, and sadly many childish ones too.

I just hope that as i said this phone will be performing well due to its late release with so low specs compared to what's currently already out. It seems that many ppl among comments never used many different phones to see how a good performer is and that's why ram and cpu DO really count whatever OS it is, especially when the phone starts to be loaded up with content, contacts, messages etc..

Samsung has been stupid enough this time to copy Apple while releasing near perfect phones with only 5MP cameras and even no flash for one of them.. That's really too bad. I'm pretty sure throwing at least a 8MP cameras at them would have made them to be so much more popular right now. I would have just already bought one of them if they had a 8MP+ camera.
Just compare what they had achieved before with simpler phones like S8300 Tocco Ultra, Pixon 8 & 12 and Omnia HD. sigh.

Maywell, 23 Jul 2010the processor is too slow... many better phones are out there...The processor is most probably not to slow. The Symbian OS needs less cpu power than the iphone os or android (maybe 2.2 is different but that i haven't tested yet). So important is how fast the aplications run and thats all about how the processor and the applications are optimized. You can't argue that one phone is better than another because it has more mhz in the processor - that reminds me of the good old times when intel had processors with more mhz than powerPC processors but the Mac computers where faster in the benchmarks (I don't like apple :-)
