How can you tell that Symbian^3 is not fast since you haven't experience it yourself?
To me, N8 is definitely better than Iphone 4.

Functionality, widgets, speed, +more! iPhone4 is pretty great but until it gets some widgets and some real multitasking then it lacks! For Symbian, its great and all but no apps and its such a boring OS, but the N8's hardware is so awesome! Hopefully the n8 will be able to get symbian^4 some how...

Nokia most definitely wouldn't upgrade the n8 to s^4. However, i'm 100% sure it would get the upgrade unofficially. Symbian is now open source so I wont be surprised if we see some n8s running android.

aero, 18 Jul 2010n8 aint gonna get much support from devs either.. its gonna... moreRegarding (unofficially) upgrading the N900 to Meego, is it advisable for non-tech savvy people to do this, or is the risk too great that you will only end up bricking your phone unless you know what you're doing? For some reason, I have it in my head that the N8 will be upgradeable to Symbian 4. Nokia haven't confirmed or denied this, but I'd like to think that if they won't officially support the upgrade, then they would say so (like they did with Meego and N900). That being said, they probably don't want to turn people off the N8 by announcing it won't be upgradeable to newer versions of Symbian even before it's been released. I guess we'll just have to wait and see.

Its high time they got back the high end mob market which was rightfully theirs from the beginning... Cheers Nokia.. :D

And its not a qn of hardware compatibility, its a qn of whether nokia will make it possible. And yea, i personally like to think that they would keep s4 for devices of the future since n8 is the 1st device with s3 and they wud need the 1st to stay there i guess..

You see meego is linux.. it was made and distributed by the devs for n900 on test basis.. the phone doesnt support the OS officially means it wud be as jailbreakin an iphone.
but symbian on the other hand is not like linux. No other phone is as customizable and upgradable as N900. unless n9 comes with meego in the future.. just coz its linux... So... n8 wudnt have much choices i am assuming.. But i am still with nokia... even if it doesnt get updated to s4, still it wud get incredible customer support.. I was rooting behind n8 for some time now mate.. But now i would like to wait for n9 coz i do love a qwerty on ma phone and n97 was a disaster in tat case.. :(

They are not giving meego officially on N900 but still Nokia is giving it to people on N900. So now users have choice between Meamo and Meego, what they want on their phone. I do think Nokia will do the same thing with N8 since its hardware is fully capable to run symbian^4.
