That's the more the apps one opens the more the RAM used & the bigger the RAM the more the apps one is likely to open. A major Xtic of the RAM is that it is volatile, That's the presence of data depends on the presence of power. N8's RAM is 256mb. When u boot the phone it automaticaly consumes 121mb of the 256 & whats left is 135, which can be used for apps and games. If u open a game it might take 20mb of the 135. 135-20=115. If u open other games and apps simultaneously, it wil finnish up the 115 left and it wil give u a 'Memory full error'. If u instal apps that consume part of the RAM prior to being opened then u wil be left with very little RAM. E.g antivirus programs. Sawa

Yea so it should be 512mb - 377mb = 135mb user memory rite?

          How and where is 256mb - 135mb = 121mb comes from?
          Thanks in advance.

But i am more confused now.

How did you come out with this formula of 256-135=121??

Afaik 256mb is referring to the RAM.
135mb is referring to the internal storage.
There is another internal mass storage of 16GB.

                  Why 256-135=121??

r0bz, 06 Jul 2010I'm asking this just out of curiousty that i know N8 doesn'... morePressing the power button does work for the N8. A long continuous press on the power button kills the phone.

Previous version of Symbian apps especially Symbian^1 apps should work fine but do wait for confirmation when proper a review comes out.

Just to add, the battery is removable (for replacement when dead) but just not easily user removable.

Anonymous, 06 Jul 2010Yea.. i also feel kinda weird when i read about his post. ... moreyes its true 256-135=121, thats means 121mb is reserved for symbian3 os to operate and 135mb reserved for user for playing games and multitaksing and etc etc etc was enough compared to older model n97 50mb (maximum) normally 40-45 mb thats why all model are slow due to lack of ram and do multitasking 3-4 at a time but n8 has almost triple. n8 can do 15 multitasking at a time smoothly seen and proved in video at youtube.

I'm asking this just out of curiousty that i know N8 doesn't allow removing of battery.

So, suppose if the phone hangs. I know this i guess is a very rare chance. Still if it hangs. Wat can a user do? As power button doesn't work when phone hangs!

And other question is will it support applications that were built for previous symbian OS?

                          Anyone with solution?

It sounded like he treated the 135mb internal storage the same as the 256mb RAM...

I am no expert in this area, but i do know that my Symbian devices has never give me any problem with low storage in the c: internal memory since i have large mass internal storage to use.

everytime i install apps and games in N81, it always give me an option where to install to sdcard or phone memory, isn't that a standard function symbian, right?

and it gives me also the option where to store the messaging files either the card or in the phone. well most of my installation and sms were located in the sdcard and it never give problem on that sort....

why did sum1 bring up on low memory for apps and games in N8 for about 138MB, it just don't matter I think as a symbian user we had already the option to install it in the sdcard while that option is just recently/officially introduced in the Froyo in android os.
