Rassall, 25 Jun 2010What a marketing strategy from Nokia. Everybody is waiting ... more" Now Who will buy this Nokia N8 which is already in Nokia dustbin????"
Certainly those who don't really know what they are talking about but like to shoot their mouths off anyway. Hint: its you dude.
Please google QT supported OS and read up on how apps made for the QT platform is compatible with Symbian^3, MeeGo and even Windows.
This is the last N Series that uses Symbian^3 but that does not mean Symbian^ series is dead. N Series have outgrown Symbian^ OSes and need higher end platform to deliver their true potential. Symbian^ will now be used for midrange smartphones.

kevinaux, 25 Jun 2010How did Eldar's reviews became so revered by the industry i... moreAlso see this
In first preview he says N8 is even slow compare to Vivaz and Now he is saying N8 is fastest symbian device and only little slow compare to Wave and other Android devices.
In first preview he also give harsh comment that the Amoled used on N8 is same as Nexus one and blame nokia to use cheap display on N8. And Now he is saying the Amoled on N8 is better than Nexus one.
Sorry but Eldar is not behaving like a professional journalist and making himself a joke..

kevinaux, 25 Jun 2010How did Eldar's reviews became so revered by the industry i... moreJust to add, he thinks N8's video editor idea was borrowed from Samsung i8910 that came out in 2009. My N95 had a decent video editor that I do use frequently and that came out in 2007.
Suppose if you are too full of yourself, you start to to purge out things from your mind that does not agree with your logic.

How did Eldar's reviews became so revered by the industry is a mystery to me. He just posted his second "unofficial personal impression" on the N8 and also separately on Symbian^3. Reading through his comments one gets more than a little dash of this dude's arrogance and sense of self importance. His whole non-review reeks of smartphoneracism directed at anything Nokia.
He states "It is functionally inferior to iOS 4 (e.g. in terms of games, social services, interface, e-mail functionality, amount of third-party software), Android (e.g. in terms of interface, extra phonebook and calendar features), Bada (e.g. in terms of interface, Social Hub functionality, etc.). ".
* Is he really comparing one Symbian^3 with the collective plus points of 3 different OSs?
..few minor features added (e.g. an updated player, single tap, pinch-to-zoom, HDMI output, several widget desktops).
* HDMI support is a minor thing now is it?
I am not going to summarize all that he said because that would be pointless but do give it a read and tell me if I am wrong. I was under the impression when you review a product, you test its functionality and usability in an impartial manner. Well thats one way of doing it, the other way is the Eldar way I suppose.

At this point, Nokia and their waiting game has worn thin. I have decided to turn my attention to some of the other high end phones that will arrive on time. Nokia won't be gettin my $500.

Is not a big deal without LED video light to me.
I will still get N8 when its launch.
I was just wondering why Nokia Official website spec sheet is not in sync with what Mr. Damian said.
Anyway, i will get an email reply from Nokia very soon regarding this issue.
Of course i am not that free to take any legal action on them.

Personally i think this is the best phone Nokia have ever produced, and the reason for delay in the release of this spectular device is simple:
1. Nokia want to generate hype with the phone among enthusiasts simply because they can hike the price when the phone is released,i.e if websites say the phone is going to cost 23,000 INR then in reality it would be 30+ when released (they are obviously aware that the people love this phone)so the longer the wait then the higher the price.
2.Other high end symbian phones like the N97 etc, will have their prices slashed big time when this phone is released, which would be a loss to Nokia.
3.Other Symbian devices MAY not sell that are currently in the market like the N86 etc when this phone is released.
Nokia definitely know what the release of this phone will do to their other phones in stock so they are being cautious, its all business with Nokia.
The price of this phone will definitely be higher than whats speculated.

Anonymous, 24 Jun 2010The reason why this phone has not shipped is because Nokia ... morei'm not that impressed by looks of phones or how good the os looks. Symbian is a usefull os which can do it all and if the functions of meego are just as good in a few years i will take a meego phone. I prefer a working os over a goodlooking one

The reason why this phone has not shipped is because Nokia are still testing Meego, their brand new OS, on the device.
Symbian is officially dead for the N series. Thankfully - and of much relief to Nokia who will say the very same thing - this will be the last N-series to ship with the dated and ugly Symbian. All future Nokia smartphones will have Meego as their OS.
By the time the N8 is released, an official version of Meego should be ready for download, meaning this phone might "ship" with Symbian pre-loaded, but if you want to see why Nokia might start grabbing back the crown from iPhone and Android, then you'll want to upgrade the OS to Meego...
Things are certainly looking exciting with iPhone, Android, Meego and WinMob 7 all vying for a bigger slice of the market.
I'm still not sold by the iPhone and don't really like any of the Android devices. While I love Win 7, I'm not taken by their mobile OS's. If Nokia can shove some beautiful glass onto one of their future N-series phones and if Meego is intuitive and beautiful, I'm sold...
