This forum is annoying me due to some guys asking stupid question which I had already answered.
And for the information android 2.1 is also just a bugfix-ment of android 1.6 with some improve usability. Same thing Nokia also do with their firmware update. They bring some new services and fix the bugs..
There are also many people who even dont know what open source mean.. Since Symbian^3 is open source so you will also see new features on N8 via firmware upgrade..
And also I finally want to mention that N8 will costs about 400 euro but its picture quality and video quality is even better then most of compact digital cameras priced at 250 euro. I'm not saying this, expert are saying. And its also Nokia so we will also get all the new upgrades time to time unlike SE Or Samsung who even dont give any kind of support.. I can assure people they will recieve support from Nokia for atleast 3 years..!
If anyone dont like my comment dont reply me, I will not answer any nonsense. If you like you can give feedback.

Finally the Symbian phone has smileys in the sms. You pick them from a menu showing the yellow smileys...geuss what...they are shown as characters in the sms. Fail!! And they are not standard compliant either (See wiki) another fail. And not the same as they used to have in their cheap phones. What are they doing ???

Rajesh, 31 May 2010You will have to wait about 6 to 8 months to know what I am... moreHi Rajesh,
I appreciate your enthousiasm, I really do, but you cannot compare those things. I understand that older processors will disappear, and then newer processors will come, like multi core arm processors, which S^3 supports.
I also agree with you that large video card with a pentium 2 cpu is not a match made in heaven, because neither Windows, OSX or Linux are suitable for such configurations. Tech does not work the same way everywhere.
Again, I can understand you think the ARM 11 is old tech for a new device, in itself it is. But, as part of this package, with this OS and this GPU it makes PERFECT sense to do it. I would like to ask you to follow your own advice, wait and see, how this terribly slow CPU will make the N8 fly.
Not flaming here, but just look at the facts. My point is proven more or less by the fact that the N8 beats the 8910 by a mile in all benchmarks, even though the 8910 has a much newer processor.
The key point here is, you can only make sensible comparisons ceteris paribus. Which you are not doing when making an analogy to desktop architecture, or having the OS and the Processor as variables at the same time. Logic does not work like that.
Anyway, the only thing that really matters, is if the phone is responsive and quick and the battery life is good. The rest is just a black box from the perspective of a consumer, as opposed to aficionados like us. Agree?

Mark, 31 May 2010Again Rajesh, on 4G, which let us assume will be LTE, your ... moreYou will have to wait about 6 to 8 months to know what I am talking. I know I have quoted the facts. Its a matter of time. 600 or 680 processor will be history or will appear on sub 200$ handsets. Graphics hardware has a lot to improve and already graphic giants like nVidia and ATI are hard at work developing their chips for mobile computing and that too to be able to perform at its best will need a support of high speed processor. Lets talk on concrete terms...Lets say in case of desktop if I ask you to use a modern graphic chip with 1 Giga or higher video ram of with 2 year old pentium processor it wont work at its best. So you see, Processor and graphic chip and audio chip all work hand in hand and complement each other which gives you best performance of the computer and this also counts in terms of internet browsing with modern day flash and java applications. You use a old processor and you will notice that your internet browser will be teasing you in terms of tough time you will have. SAME HOLDS TRUE IN CASE OF MOBILE PHONES as after all logic that revolves around technology is same.

Rajesh, 31 May 2010Thats it...Now you read my comments...I never spoke about S... moreAgain Rajesh, on 4G, which let us assume will be LTE, your claims are wrong. You see, in a mobile device, especially in the case of this here N8, there are seperate chips for seperate functions. There is an audio chip in there, so the main CPU does not have to perform that task. LTE, as implemented by Nokia, will use a similar set up. Now, I think the LTE equipped phones will have higher specs than the N8, but it would be fully possible to have LTE on a device like the N8.

Rajesh, 31 May 2010Thats it...Now you read my comments...I never spoke about S... moreRajesh, CPU only is irrelevant. Experience counts. If you say the device is slow, you cannot leave the OS out of the equation. If the OS uses the GPU, then you cannot leave that out as well. If you do, nothing you say about the device, its specs, or how it will perform will make sense anymore. I agree that the ARM11 is not the fastest processor out there. But it does not matter. As long as the OS maxes out all of the benchmarks, the GPU can push all the screen real estate quickly, it is a good thing NOT to have a faster processor. Surely you must agree that it is the user experience that counts? Or would you rather have a slow V12 engine car, than a fast V6?

I have gone through GSMArena interview with Damian and did not see or come across any question on Nokia's ever trailing with technology ito CPU speed and RAM. Look at their so called N97 its always ever crashing, halting when on call, simply because there is 8 gig of picture and or music data which is quarter of its storage. Please GSMA when you get this slow (clock speed, RAM) handset from Nokia do test with half the of the 16 gig and tell us how its performing.

Mark, 31 May 2010Correct, but also, S^3 is even more efficient than previous... moreThats it...Now you read my comments...I never spoke about S3 or S4 or S5...I never said N8 is supposed to run S3 only...what I said was specs are age old and supposed to be released last year...I specifically mentioned about 4G and future...do you think I give a damn if Nokia uses S3 now or later??? Reading people giving so much importance to N8 that too when in 6 months it will be a new technology altogether I mentioned what I had to mention.
Again I will call you Grand Pa because without reading or undertanding you came up with an attitude about GPU and linking it with S3. I never gave a damn about S3.
Future...was my point and 4G will use 1 Ghz up to 1,5 Ghz GPU with video graphich to download loads of data and then playing it flawlessly.
You are only drowned into the world of 600 or 680 GPU with S3 to decorate your thought. So Grand Pa...grow up and if you want to comment on anything just try to understand what the person want to say. You said your english is good...is this what you call a knowledge of good english...

Do you want to know the theoretical maximum speed for S^3 on current HW or do you need to know what the highest end hw is that S^3 supports. For the latter, full support for dual core A9 chips is present ( which is another step forward from A8).

And Rajesh, you haven't had a hands-on on the N8 right? You only saw the proto type on videos. Mind you - with two months left before the market release, I am sure that Nokia can fix any issues associated with it. And oh, do not compare a 680Mhz on Symbian with a 1Ghz on Android or WinMo - that is illogical. It is like comparing a worm found on your closet versus the worm that you eaten unconciously on your apple. Hehehe
