U R talking exactly the same thing but in other words.
No one expects/believes/think that they can replace their dedicated camcorder or Camera with a mobile device.
What we expect is an option of clicking a photo or shooting a video clip in the best quality an Mobile device can offer.
So I agree with you that Mobile device cannot replace dedicated devices but then here we are comparing Mobile devices and I just want to make a point.
N8 is the best a mobile device in terms of Camera. offer. Again somewhat made a point about Samsung with true optical zoom but thats not released everywhere and I don't have access to it.

Secondly. Tell me why i should buy a Nokia N8 over a Sony Ericsson Vivaz or XPERIA X10?.
I can't find ANY reasons at all to buy a N8 over the 2 SE phones. The SE phones takes pretty good pictures already.
So i rather have a phone with way way better specs and with a good camera already than this Nokia phone.
So until someone gives me some VERY good reasons to buy this phone over other phones with better specs and that, then i wont buy this phone.

I have seen the Symbian^3 demos. It is not a game changer like Meego...nor is it intended to compete head to head with Apple OS4 or Android 2.2, like Symbian^4. HOWEVER, it does address key problems in the Synmbian^1 UI and will likely appeal to a much larger audience as a result. Given its marriage to the N8 hardware, I think we will all be pleasantly surprised by the new user experience. For sure, it will not compete on eye candy and yes, it's screen resolution is not for a flagship...but then again...it is NOT meant to be Nokia's next flagship. Actually, at its price point, I am sure the competitors are worried about their flagship sales. The N8 is a game changer...nothing compares in terms of total VALUE in this market and for the next 12, maybe 18, months. Nokia's scale is demonstrating benefit to the consumer.

excellent phone have best features device to have ever,majorly 12mp hd,sym 3 ,nokia qt,&java aap,web tv,fm transmitter and many more at very magical price could have been more better with 4" display,slow motion video rec ,tv tuner with tv recording but still very much capable of being any ones desire phone

The only good thing i can find with this phone is the camera and the HD recording. And that's basicly all that's good with this phone.
The rest is just outdated. Poor resolution. Kinda poor CPU. The screen is meh, because AMOLED sucks outside in sun, so i rather have a TFT screen.
And the OS on the phone is just fail.
So anyone who buys this phone buys it for the camera and HD recording, and nothing else.

bcoz BL-4D is used in N97 mini & all N97 mini users saying its battery life sucks... N8 hv 3.5 screen bigger thn N97 mini thn hw its possible????

With the good price and good specand brand new symbian version
what more can you ask for?
Add 4" screen? Larger res? 1ghz processor?
Then you must pay nokia euro 100+50 more
50 is for nokia to charge you for making limited editon, so total is eoro 520 ; it is still a good price for those people who are difficulty to please

Quite good specifications, superb camera, only thing i'm disappointed about is the symbian ^3 (hopefully it won't be a disappointment) and the 3.5" screen with a relatively low resolution. Come on, a larger screen and a higher resolution could have been implemented in this phone...

I find it interesting that a lot of commentary about the N8 usually results in comparing it to flagship phones from competitors. Flagship phones usually priced at 30% to 50% about the N8's suggested retail offering. I suppose the consumer is going to decide if an N8 at EURO 370 / USD 499 is delivering value relative to the rest of the field. I personally do not think Symbian ^3 is a game changer relative to Apple OS4 or Android 2.2...but with its significant improvements and its marriage to well spec'd hardware...I do believe the consumer will notice a BIG difference and that attitudes will turn very positive on Nokia's ability to deliver a fantastic platform at such a competitive price point. I will go for the N8...it's offering too much value to ignore.
