celladik, 13 May 2010You people are asking too much from nokia why dont you guyZ... moreApart from a slow looking processor and a decidedly average screen, it really does have the best hardware and features of any phone available.
It's just the OS, Im not sure I can live with the OS after having the N97. I want more than tiny fixed height widgets and the boring clock in the corner. I would hope they've done something with the messaging interface.
Good phone, shame about the OS.

I just got my hands on one of the pre-release prototype of the phone through my brother who's a technical co-ordinator of Nokia finnland. Here's what I saw:
The OS is still not completed but the phone is resonably fast but quite slow in the gallery with 12GB of memory filled up. My bro says 6-8GB won't be a problem. The screen looks really good but I guess the brightness and contrast could be better because my current samsung omnia HD's screen looks a little bit better (not much that u'll notice indoors) and the viewing angle could be better. All in all, the screen is better than at least ALL other nokia phones but I think sunlight legibility can be improved.
2. I couldn't use all the camera features due to this early unit but the photos I took in auto looked pretty good...unfortunately I couldn't find any panoroma, blink detection or anti-shake option. The video quality is the real game here. Even the video with the pre-release unit looked quite good but I think the frame-rate is still a issue in this one which my brother said is getting fixed still.
3. To my great disappointment, I saw just one speaker in N8. No stereo. The single speaker is quite loud still.
4. The responsive ness of the touch screen managed to to keep its promise as a capacitive unit. It responses at slightest touch and response is better than Nokia X6. But certain lags especially in app menu still persists.
Finally the phone gave me pretty good intentions as a ex-user of N95 and now samsung omnia HD. If u guys have any question about this phone I'm here to answer.

Change that battery to 1500 mAH and it will be the best phone ever, at least at this price point.
Camera is awesome, talktime and playback time are surprisingly good considering the 1200 mAH battery and the OLED multitouch screen will be great.
I am almost ok with the UI of 5800 XM so i guess i wont have much problem with N8.
Certainly my next phone.

The N8 screen resolution is not the best, but also not that bad---iphone have resolution of 320x480 for 3 freaking generation people, and everything seems perfectly fine displayed on it.

I have had the Nokia 5800 touchscreen mobile since it first came out, its had glitches and a few problems and it occasionally crashes, but what phone does`nt, but I still love it.
I have been looking to upgrade to something a bit more modern, functional and nice looking.
I was looking at HTC desire, Sony X10, and even Samsung`s upcoming I9000 all using Android, which to be honest I had my heart set on.
But you start reading a few reviews about these phones, short battery life, hundreds of apps but do you really need them!.
Then I saw this little beauty, come on guys and girls its metal, scratch resistant screen, 40 hour playback on music, 12 meg camera with xenon flash, even the new Sony is not sporting a decent flash etc etc, its going to be 100 if not 1000% better than my 5800 which does everything I really need it for.
It may not have the 100000 apps that the Iphone does, but it will take superb pictures, the music player will rock as mine currently does, I will get my sms and be able to browse the net and email and it will look the coolest bit of kit in my pocket for a while to come.
Decision made, roll on shipment date your customers are waiting Nokia.

i think nokia should launch the phone as soon as possible to shut down the comments of the people & deffinetly will hit the market with its response.
