JayXxX, 05 May 2010This would cost like 23000 in the philippines... I have see... moreSo, if 5800 sucked, why shud N8 be good enough for you?

N8 is a very small evolutionary step, wait for Meego models, or get N900 now. More than 20k for N8? And N900 is onli 29k pesos, a real computer in the pocket, instead of "just another Symbian smartfone"...

LoL, 20k+ for 640x360 and Symbian, thats the worst deal ever... Heheh, suddenly that 3310 withn Pocahontas cover doesnt seem so bad after all, at least it would be reasonable priced hahah

So when the galaxy gets released it will be the first with Blutooth 3.

Anonymous, 05 May 2010meego.. i look forward to it, i love Maemo5, its almost sad... moreIntel just announced their Moorestown or Z6xx series chip for Smartphones. It can run quake3 @ 100FPS.

I would say that by late September Nokia will launch an intel atom based Z6xx series smartphone with Meego as OS.

It will be a great step for Nokia.

[deleted post]This would cost like 23000 in the philippines... I have seen this in an expo and it wow-ed me. Based from what I had seen, it didn't lag. Well, I had 5800 and after 1 month of using it, I sold it for half it's original price. 5800 sucks. I love this phone.

Jean, 05 May 2010N8 won't need a 1ghz cpu. Come on, it's symbian... it's a v... moremeego.. i look forward to it, i love Maemo5, its almost sad it will be swallowed by meego, since meego is not based on Debian.... But its good the giants Intel and Nokia can do a joint effort, it will speed up the process of bringing us Intel arcitecture to celfones, in a few years time we will be running the same binaries on our cellphones as on our Linux PCs. and our graphics chips will be from Nvidia =) The future is bright! But i will miss the "Debian way" of Maemo...

I want a 3.7 inch amoled Nokia running meego at 800x480, with the graphics of N900 and a 1GHZ cortex A8, minimum 512MB RAM. Basically i want a "Nokia Nexus One" with meego =)

No doubts it is a good phone, but I will be more happy if Nokia will make a symbian^3 phone with at least 800 mhz cpu and 5 mp carl zeiss optics, 3.5" display...

Anonymous, 05 May 2010And 1ghz cpu?Current 1GHz ARM CPUs are good, for example the snapdragon platform's Scorpio core is quite similar to Cortex A8. And Samsung makes a 1GHz Cortex A8 core. Very good performance.

For those who are more used to PC prcoessors, its different for ARM processors, there are several manufacturers for the same cores.

Note that Snapdragon is not a processor, its a platform, consisting of processor core (Scorpio) and a chipset, where for example Wifi and GPS are part of the Snapdragon chipsets used in for example Nexus One. But most people seem to refer to the processor core when they talk about Snapdragon.

And for people that are asking for a real smartphone from nokia. Meego is still under development, you'll have to wait at least till august.

shani, 05 May 2010what u will say guys if we compare N8 with Google NexusI like to compare them, and then N8 appears as more of a media phone than the nexus. Im tempted to say that N8 is a Nokia N-series for teenagers.

The higher resolution of Nexus One is the important for me, this is the great weakness of N8. I still have a Nokia 5800 but not using it, 640x360 is not enough. Still, N8 has more features than Nexus One, and it is a Nokia, so surely it will be the more popular.

Nexus One isnt for everyone, it doesnt have that good photo/video, and no FM radio, no FM transmitter. And.. Nokia cellfones are smooth, easy to live with, they didnt become this big by not knowing what people want. Who cares what people need, does anyone here buy what they need? No, we all buy what we want, and Nokia knows too well what people want....

Anonymous, 05 May 2010hey i am really glad you helped me out but why N900>>... moreN900 - Maemo5 is Linux, based on Debian.

N900 use 600MHz ARM Cortex A8 processor, easily beats the 680MHz ARM 11 of Nokia N8. Higher IPC is the key, Instructions Per Clock. Average IPC of A8 is said to be 0.9, which is EXCELLENT for an in-order execution processor. Thats real-life, not a theoretical number..

Cortex A8 is more than 50% faster at similar clockspeed, and the NEON instruction set can make it 200% faster for media application. For example cache latency is only 1 clock cycle, vs 2 clock cycles on ARM 11, and branch prediction accuracy is up from 88% on ARM 11 to 95% on the A8.

In a worst case scenario there is 40% improvement at same clock speed.
