these all translates to low power consumption hence 1200 battery will do: oled, symbian os, wifi toggle, 3g toggle. usage is also a main factor.

Great phone with excellent specs, but by being Nokia it would come with a price tag in excess of US$1K+ as alot of other Nokia phones are highly priced than what they're worth. but still a great phone if you can afford it.

Guys, haven't you noticed it yet? Nokia N8 has a brand new set of icons. It's different from OVI touch icons found in N97/5800. Look at the screenshot from the actual device reviewed in mobile-review.com as well as the image on this page.

very nice phone and its packed with tons of features i've always looked for in a phone, more power nokia! unfortunately, i cant w8 for its release, i think il go for the samsung wave instead and then replace it with the n8 upon its release, of course, still depending on my budget :)

Recently there was a Q & A session held where Nokia representatives answered many interesting things. Hopefully this will answer many of the repetitive questions asked on this site...

Concerning the built in battery, Nokia wanted to create a robust, one-piece device that feels good in the hand, therefore the integrated battery that can not be replaced by the user. The solution regarding phone "freeze up" requires the press and hold of the power button for 8 seconds. Upon doing so will shut off the device much like a laptop.

The Nokia N8 is running on the ARM-11 680MHz processor and have a graphics accelerator next to a main processor. They claim some screens are running already now at 60fps on pre-production devices.

The camera sensor size is 1/1.83 and have 28mm wide optics from Zeiss with no cover. The materials on the camera are highly scratch resistant. Nokia's stand on omitting the cover was because they wanted to make the use of many social applications as seamless as possible. The camera does not have "Touch Focus". The slight touch of dedicated camera key activates the focus. Features such as "Face Detection" and "Red Eye Removal" are present. There is no video LED.

The actual available user memory in the ROM, device user memory, is 145MB.

The Nokia N8 has a unique USB feature called OTG (On The Go). Nokia will provide an adapter inbox to connect your USB memory sticks and hard drives. There is obviously a power limitation that the Nokia N8 can supply so some of the bigger hard drives will need an external power supply. You can copy big files from hard drives without PC. The max file size is 4GB.

The Nokia N8 will be running Flash Lite 4.0. This version of Flash Lite will be Flash 10 compatible.

Regarding the High Definition capabilities of the Nokia N8, video is recorded in stereo but only playback through HDMI (High Definition Media Interface) will be in 5.1 Dolby Digital Plus. The Nokia N8 will be able to play .mkv extension video files.

When i first saw video ad about this fone i was like WOW...but after i read the specs, i was like oh...ok. Don't get me wrong, I still like my N95 a lot if it's not so laggy most of the time. But N8 has a smaller battery then N97 and only 16GB compare to 32GB on N97...come on...why is the specs going downward? Don't even get me started on the design. I'd still get it but more likely will not be as happy with getting a N97.

It has 1500 mAh battery, 2.36" screen and people don't use 3G much as the screen is too small for web browsing, you tube, facebook and all that. It should last a day with 3G on.

So how long do you think N8 will last with 1200mAh battery, 3.5" screen and intensive web usage?

Chad, 29 Apr 2010Okay, what's innovative about the specs?don't you know? Nokia is so innovative in making 2 versions of the same model phones.

for example, N95 and N95 8GB, due to N95's unusable small battery, Nokia took the lens cover out and put a bigger 1200 mAh battery in N95 8GB . lol :D

Hopefully, it will be the same of N8. Let's name it, N8 second edition. ha ha ha....

1200 mAh is simply not enough. For example, iPhone can last a day or 2 even with wifi on if you turned the 3G off. With 3G on, iPhone only last half a day.

Well, if you have to turn the 3G off to save the battery, what the use of today's smartphones then?

Well, I can guess N8 will last maximum 10 hours if you use push mail.

Okay, what's amazing about this? Forget that it's from Nokia and compare it to everyone else. The UI is lackluster, all the features have already been done before and this is coming out late in the year, and Android/Apple have MUCH more apps. What's the point of this device besides to give diehard Nokia fans a decent phone?
