You've most likely got yourself a swap device which means you will have to visit the Nokia Care Point to get your phone updated. Please backup your phone before submitting it to the NCP because they will wipe all data during the update.

I can't stress enough that you do not need any antivirus software running on your N8. It is absolutely pointless installing antivirus software because no viruses exist for Symbian^3/Anna/Belle devices. Furthermore, on the off chance that some snivelling moron does write a virus, the only way for it to infect your phone is for you to give it permission to install. And only a moron would do that. As such, nobody bothers to write viruses for Symbian/Nokia OS because it's pointless.

I do remember you, hope your keeping well.

I've checked your product code and it seems there is no Belle update available for your device but there is the update for all other Greek N8's. This is possibly due to your phone being a swap device. What this means is that at some point the phone was submitted for repair and Nokia changed the motherboard. If this is the case then you will have to visit your nearest Nokia Care Point and they will update the phone for you. Make sure you backup all your important stuff before taking it to the NCP because they will wipe all data from the phone when updating it.

I can't answer any questions about Belle because my network operator are still working on writing the update for my phone so I haven't updated it yet.

I've run both. The main difference I've noticed is the official uses less memory, I highly recommend it. To update used the most recent PC Suite, plug in via USB, and use the "reinstall" option. There will not be a prompt for the official Belle update as they are the same version. PC Suite will back up your settings for you and update you. Please note, you will have to install your apps again.

Hello there,

It's good news and bad news I'm afraid. At the moment there isn't an official Belle update for Australia but Nokia are in talks to get an update available at some point. Have a read of the following thread from the official Nokia support site.

Hello...My N8 is not getting detected while Plugging in PC.Getting "USB Device not Recognized" error.Tried with diff s/m and with diff mobiles..All went fine except my N8.So the issue mya be N8's..What to do now???..Imm responses are always appreciated..Thanks in advance

2. With Anna_OS as we all know there is the "continuous auto-focus feature". What happens with Belle?

You have two options to restore your phone. Since you mention your laptop switching off while updating it means your update did not finish. You can either take your phone to a nokia care point for them to reflash your phone, or you can download the firmware via navifirm, and then refurbish your phone via phoenix. Then there might be the option of doing the 3button reset to see if that helps.

If you have further problems i would be glad to try and help you.

updating to belle now. haha any upsides/downsides to using belle? coz anna was not a huge step away from the original symbian ^3 OS.. thanks guys.
