Hi, can anyone here help me please? should i buy this phone or go with android instead? i am currently using a nokia 5530.The reason I consider getting this phone is because of the aluminium body, superb camera ,excellent headphone sound(that is based on a lot of reviews)and wide vid codec support

You are correct in your guess. My phone is not 'Network locked' or unbranded as you said. I have already downloaded a step by step tutorial about flashing and NaviFIRM and phoenix, but the fear of bricking my phone is keeping me from my first attempt, and a wee bit complicated for a newb to attempt, especially since this is my only phone.
By the way, i have probably read the same reviews on the Lumia 800 and plan to get that phone as an upgrade somewhere in the future or the rumoured N8-01 if and only if WP7 gets improved. I dont much care to have billions of apps either like on other OSes but the ones that work like they are supposed to.

1.want to know if some 3rd party app like Mobishie... more @ N8 and me
I used to use Netqin mobile guard on my N8 and can confirm it doesn't have any negative impact on the phones performance. I'm not sure if it's fully compatible with Symbian Anna because the latest version is designed for S60 devices (Symbian ^1).
However, there is Netqin Mobile security 5.0 that is fully compatible with the N8 and is free from Nokia store. Howver, you really don't need Antivirus software on your N8. Symbian is pretty much immune to malware.

The usual culprits for eating C: drive memory are SMS/MMS, Emails and the web browsers cache. Try clearing all privacy data from the browsers cache and transfer your SMS/MMS to a PC or laptop.
For your "Phone startup Failed: Contact the retailer" error the only known fix for this is to perform a three fingered reset by pressing volume down + camera key + menu key and pressing power button until the Nokia handshake appears. Sadly, this will wipe everything from the phone including maps and Nokia store so you will need to visit a Nokia care point to get them back. If that procedure still doesn't get rid of that error message you will need to visit a Nokia care point anyway to get the problem resolved. My advice is to go there anyway and have them fix the problem for you. Hopefully you have a recent backup of your important stuff because, as I mentioned the phones memory will be completely wiped.
Good luck

1.want to know if some 3rd party app like Mobishield and NetQuin have any wrong effect on our phone.
2. Regularly c drive accumulates some garbage memory, how to clear that garbage without any app. I use the above mentioned app to do the same.
3.and why sometimes on restarting the phone i get this error "Phone startup failed, contact retailer." and simply phone dont respond anything.
Thanks in advance.

My own thoughts on upgrading to Belle were that I wasn't going to bother but curiosity will get the better of me so I'll probably do the upgrade in the end.
Belle itself looks like the OS the N8 should have had at launch and reports from people who have flashed with the leaked version are positive and encouraging.
Out of interest, is your N8 an unbranded SIM free model? Or is it a network branded one? I'm guessing the former for those two dates to be identical.
My best guess based on recent activity on Navifirm is that Belle will be released sometime in December, but that is only a guess.
I'm of the same opinion as you with flashing leaked/custom firmware on my N8. I don't want to run the risk of bricking it. It's a different story with my Samsung Galaxy S though. I've flashed that one loads of times as the procedure is less complicated and the phone is virtually un-brickable. I actually did brick it once but the procedure to un-brick it was easy and effective.
Microsoft and Nokia will have to make a few improvements to WP OS before I consider getting a WP phone. That being said, the Lumia 800 has had some positive reviews with Engadget saying it's the best WP phone on the market today and a 4 out of 5 star rating. The phone certainly looks good with decent enough hardware inside.
All the best.

Thanks man. I did the check like you said and saw that both dates were Identical. I remember with the Anna update it was just anounced/released and the next day I did the SWUpdate check and it was there. That was August 25/26 if I'm not mistaken, or it might have been September.
I've read some of your posts here and would like to know what your thoughts and expectations are of Belle as an OS, as we do know that the n8's hardware can not af upgraded.
I have toyed with the idea of trying those custom Belle releases but decided against it as i DO NOT want to run the risk of bricking my gem.
Thanks for the time you took to reply to my posts. It seems to me you are an N8 'God' for all the knowledge you have.
I'm a nokia fan and will probably own a WP Nokia someday due to the whole fanboy thing lol

My network provider, Virgin mobile UK typically take around two weeks to approve firmware for my phone.
But what happened last time with Anna was Nokia held on to the update for a month after Virgin approved it.
You can check how long your network or region take to approve the firmware by dialling *#0000# and comparing the dates of the firmware version and custom firmware version.

Anyone know how long it 'normally' takes for a firmware update to be released to the cellphone service providers after it has been released on Navifirm? Ray H, do you perhaps have knowledge of this process? Cos it seems like we all waiting anciously for Bell(a)e to arrive on our N8's! From what i have heard/read it seems that Belle has a smaller footprint which means that it leaves more ram available for other processes, and that it uses the C: drive of the phone as some sort of cache. The big Question though: is Belle too little too late? I am keeping my fingers crossed and hoping it gets on my phone before 15/12/2012.
KEEP N8ing
