Anna and Belle are different versions of Symbian^3, so not the same.
All the best.

You Sir are mis-informed. Nokia did not introduce Symbian in the 1980's. It was established on 24 June 1998 as a partnership between Ericsson, Nokia, Motorola, and Psion (who were the original developers of it's predecessor, EPOC). So, what was once a brilliant OS has now become a sick joke in the mobile phone world due to all other manufacturers abandoning the platform in favour of newer more modern OS's, i.e, Android and BADA. Even Nokia themselves have realised it's out of date now and have moved to Windows Phone OS.
When will you people learn that Symbian has had it's day and is dead. As for your Windows analogy, that's completely irrelevant. The different versions of Windows over the years are different to each other in terms of the GUI, functionality and hardware support. Windows today can support multicore CPU's and 64 bit architecture. Windows 98 couldn't.
Just so you know, I also use Linux on my PC and not just Windows.
You stated that Symbian is the most customisable OS available! Where have you got this idea from? Have you ever seen or used an Android phone with a cooked ROM installed. Something like Darky's ROM on the Samsung Galaxy S. I have, because I tried it out on my own SGS. There are several other custom ROMs available too.
Finally, you very good at giving out criticism but can't take it in return so it's you who should grow up.
Enjoy your dead OS while you can.

Let me tell you why I'm against Nokia these days.
Nokia have lost their way in the smart phone business and are unable to produce a phone that is equal to or better than the top Android phones today. The closest thing they've got is the N9, but they will not be supporting the N9 so it's effectively dead on arrival.
Also, as previously mentioned, they will discontinue support for Symbian devices by 2016 and the updates for existing Symbian devices are pathetic.
Take Anna for example. That was supposed to arrive in the first quarter of 2011 as P.R. 2.0, but it got shelved and renamed as Anna then scheduled for release in the third quarter of 2011. So, they were working on the update from late 2011 and released it in August (for most of the world) but they still haven't fixed certain issues that have plagued the N8 since launch.
The browser is still rubbish, T9 input still doesn't learn certain words, you're still limited to three home screens and cannot add individual shortcuts to the home screen. They have to be added as a block of four.
As I've said before, developer support has dropped and it won't be long before it stops altogether.
Enjoy your N8 for as long as you can but don't expect anything good from Nokia or third party developers in the future.
All the best.

At what point in my original response t... more@ Ray,
I am a user of N8 & first of all, "keep N8-ing" is NOT a silly slogan, but was introduced by me as it came from my heart when I first started to use it.
Second, I don't know, why do you use Windows OS? That is more than few more decased older than Symbian. Maybe you don't, as I have noticed lack in your judgement. But 90% people around the world uses Windows OS. That is, because with time, the maturity becomes higher. Similarly, Nokia introduced Symbian in early 80's, true, but through time it became more mature than ANY OS available at present. Remember, Symbian was the first OS for mobile to introduce the word multitasking in phones. Symbian defined the word smart-phone in the dictionary. I can go on and on. Maybe at that time you even didn't see a smart-phone when I used one. You can't change the fact that for an OS, older means maturity, not outdated. I still am in love with Symbian, it IS the most customisable OS available (silver medal goes to MeeGo). What I miss is that recently Nokia is NOT working on Symbian anymore as they are planning on Windows phones. That is where Symbian is getting neglected & not getting enough tests & crashing on the way of use. Believe me, I started using Symbian Since 6600 & those were the golden phones. Even now, the selling record of 6600 was broken ONLY by N70, which, my friend, is also a Symbian phone. Only iPhone4 could break that record because they could create a hype, not because the OS itself is superior to Symbian.
Some of us try to learn, others keep on shouting. One other thing, if you hate Symbian THIS MUCH, who the hell asked you to visit this page? If you can't give some constructive opinion (good or bad, but constructive, not hitting someone's feelings, like saying: silly slogan), stop writing here. Hope you are old enough to learn. I'll see that in your reply. Please, grow up.
Take care.

Like I said, stick with your N8 if it's makes you happ... moreyep u r right, camera update didnt cum wid anna but its not only available at beta ladbs. Its available ovr d web. People who uses smart phones are bother about its features and most of them are bother about its update. Even apple didnt support ota update since these days. And how people wil knw update is available until dey chek web, and to update it must be connected wid pc.
Camera udate only suportd wid anna not wid symbian^3. Dat y i am said its major. Other mobile manufacturers cnt make higher dan 8mp bt nokia can. They did it. Hey it is fast going world and megapixel cameras are esential in smart phones and dnt stick on cheap 8mps. Even iphone is upgraded its camera from 5mp to 8mp.
I m n8 fan. I used both n8 and iphone(not mine). I knw the limitations on iphone lyk restrictions on blututh, only micro sim suport, no flash suport in browser etc. But its os is cool. All other features are best in n8, dat y i luv it.
U said dat ur nt apple fan. And i dnt knw y u against nokia even u knw d limitations on iphone.

Like I said, stick with your N8 if it's makes you happy. Fanboys are hard to reason with.
If you really think Anna was a major improvement then you truly are a Fanboy. By the way, technically you have to install a Beta app to get CAF in video recording so that didn't come with Anna as promised. Many people are actually unaware of the camera update from Betalabs, and wouldn't bother with Beta software anyway.
I wish people would stop going on about the N8's camera. I've taken some very good shots with mine but so what. It's camera on a phone and will never compete with a dedicated SLR. In fact, the camera is mostly a gimmick just to sell the phone. It's one of the main reasons why most people got an N8 in the first place.
Also, ask yourself why no other mobile manufacturer has bothered to try and outdo the N8's camera. I'll tell you why. They just don't care because 8 MP's on a mobile phone camera or already more than enough and 12 MP's is pointless.

At what point in my original response t... morehey r u talking about symbian s60? But im not. I m talking abt symbian anna. U didnt knw 1 thing dat symbian s60, s60 v2, s60v3 and finaly s60 v5 are old i agree wid u. Even older versions of ios are old bt ios5 is new same way symbian anna is brand new. It is major update because it not only brings improvd ui but also provids some grt software update for its camera as it got 30fps at continuous auto focus in video camera. Symbian is not outdated, as u said nokia wil suport symbian til 2016. Its true and nokias suport 4 symbian is clear.
My frnd, metal is betar dan glas for protection. Even iphone 4s cnt beat n8 in its features lyk 12mp camera, hdmi, usb on d go, fm transmtr, blututh, pc connectivity, hot swapble memry crd slot, dolby digital via hdmi and aftrel all it is a nokia, world leader in mobile phone manufacturing.
